Emalee was not at all sure how to explain Jemmada being back in her life at all to Leisa as she watched him slowly coming through the gather crowds towards them. He looked calm after sorting out his wrongdoings towards Theeressa so that was positive but how would he feel about her twin being there. It was not like she could handle things how she normally did when she had to tell him something that could change things. She rose from the blanket and stopped him a few steps away from the children and Jemm.

Leisa was definitely in a better mood after having talked with Theeressa and Riklan. He was trying to get his life in order again. He was caught off guard though when Emalee stopped him. “Yoy okay, Em?”

Emalee blocked his view of the blanket for a minute as she shrugged. “I am physically okay but we have a new guest so mentally not so good….” She admitted. “…You are not going to like it at all.” He was going to not like it, like he distrusted Ciy staying with them for a bit. The only thing that going for her was the fact that Jemm was her sibling and not sometime who Emalee had been in love with.

Leisa wasn't liking her words or tone of voice. “Why am I not going to like it? What is going on?” He was very confused and his wife wasn't helping him feel any better.

“Because it is my sister that has turned up. amd it’s not the sister you like… Jemmada got found by R’kig which you can imagine cause a bit of trouble. So see you really are not going to like it.” Emalee whispered quickly to him in the worried tone of hers when she was nervous.

The man’s eyes narrowed. That sister. And just what was she doing back? “Yeah I imagine that wasn't good,” he agreed, thinking about R'kig running into her. “What is she doing here?” He growled lowly.

Emalee saw the narrowing of his eyes and put both hands flat on his broad chest. “Looking for a fresh start. She got caught pickpocketing and was beaten up a little.” She added trying to soften the blows a baby’s cry broke the moment as Emalee turned back to her barely four month old her had stirred.

Leisa took a couple deep breaths. He was sure the girl had deserved it but he was tired of seeing people beat up. he finally blew out a breath when his daughter started to cry. “Go to her. I just need a moment.”

Emalee paled at him and the tone he used but nodded, turning back to where her daughters and sister were waiting. She plastered a smile on her face as she sat back down, Elsa was happily eating a sandwich ignoring the woman and the baby was brawling her eyes out whilst Jemm attempted to soothe her.

“He looks pretty mad.” Jemm commented.

“It is fine.” Emalee assured picking up the baby holding her against her chest realising she was hungry. She shifted, pulling out a cloth to cover herself as she breastfed.

Leisa paced for a bit, needing to calm himself down again. He needed to remember that they could all change. He had so maybe Jemm had as well. He would just tread lightly as he didn't want to be caught off guard.

Once he was sure he was calm he walked back over to where his family was sitting. He nodded to Jemm before sitting down by Elsa. “Hey Els,” he smiled.

“Leisa.” Jemmada said softly, looking at him unsure. He looked different than she remembered, the desperate look that they all used to have being from.

“Hello daddy. You missed the puppet show.” The girl chastised in her little voice making Emalee smile. “Mummy laughed lots. Amisa slept through it.”

“I'm sorry, baby girl. I'm glad you liked it and that is good that mommy was laughing.” Leisa looked over at Jemmada. “Good to see you're still in one piece,” he told her. they didn't know what had happened to most of the people of Dragon Hold.

Elsa smiled and moved from her position to climb over to her dad and sat herself on him. “Pern keeps trying to break me but I persist.” The woman stated softly. “Good to see you too, Leisa. Very surprised to see you with Em.”

Emalee raised an eyebrow but said nothing as the baby suckled and it was hard enough to sit without support.

Leisa smiled at his daughter as she climbed onto his lap. The little girl was certainly his pride and joy. “I know that feeling,” he agreed. “Perhaps things will work out better this time.” Leisa looked over at Jemmada in confusion. “Why's that?”

Jemm did not care if they worked out for her at Kymos or not at the moment. She was just happy to have a breather and take a rest even if it was with people who did not overly trust her or care much for her. “Just never seemed your type.” Emalee rolled her eyes but said nothing.

Leisa gave Elsa a hug, holding her close. Next to Emalee the girls were the best thing that ever happened to him. “We all change,” he answered, giving Emalee a smile. They had all been different in Dragon Hold.

“Not everyone. Some of us are quite happy to fall through life .” Jemm said quietly, giving him another look before she looked at Elsa and offered a smile. Elsa smiled shyly but said nothing. The woman looked like her mother a little but also like her aunty Cassine.

Leisa frowned. Yeah maybe she hadn’t changed. He was trying to be at least kind for Emalee's sake, plus his children were there. “You've got to want to change,” he pointed out as he held Elsa.

Jemm looked away stubbornly. She had gotten this far being her. Other than getting caught today she had managed so far without injury. Elsa frowned as she looked at the adults all looking a little strange in her opinion. “There is auntie Lenya and Kiyna.” She said breaking the tension as indeed Lenya was working her way across the picnic ground with Kiyna.

Lenya smiled as she took in Emalee and Leisa looking a little off but soon realised the source when she saw Jemm. “Long time no see Jemmada.” Lenya said quietly.

“It is good to see Lenya.” Jemmada said, truly feeling happy to see the other woman. She had never forgotten that night when the riders had come to Dragon Hold to rescue her.

Leisa wasn't going to fight. If that was how Jemmada felt than so be it. He couldn't change that. He looked up though when Elsa commented on Lenya and Kiyna. “Hi Lenya, Kiyna. Where's K’yar?” the brown rider wasn't usually far from his family.

“Oh he is part of the display team so he’ll catch up eventually.” Lenya said, plopping herself down on the edge of the blanket touching Emalee’s hand in a sweet gesture as Kiyna jumped over to Leisa and sat on him to talk to her cousin.

“Seems you are a couch now Le.” Emalee said, finally breaking away from gazing at Amisa.

Leisa laughed as Kiyna sat with Elsa. “I see that,” he grinned, clearly quite content with the two girls on his lap. “Oh so we should watch all the dragons see if we can pick him out?” He smiled, refusing to pay any attention to Jemmada.

“Brown rider right?” Jemmada wondered trying to at least include herself even if Leisa was irritated by her presence. Emalee had forced her to stay and it was not like she had other options.

“Yes. He also will have black insignia with being in Onyx wing.” Lenya advised as Kiyna murmured something about knowing Kylith. Lenya smiled slightly at her daughter mentioning the dragon so easily to identify her dad now.

“There will be lots of browns up there.” Lenya said knowing fall well that Kylith was big enough to spot easily why K’yar was wingseocnd.

Leisa nodded as he listened. So a brown with a black insignia. Well that should be easy to pick out. Not really. “Alright Kiyna you'll have to point out your daddy when you see him.”

Emalee smiled as she watched the man’s face showing exactly how he felt as she moved the baby. “Pass her over Em. I’ll burp her.” Lenya assured and smiled as the baby was easily passed to allow Emalee to sort herself out. She winked at her brother knowing he would have normally stepped in but he had the girls and she suspected that Jemmada would not even attempt to hold the baby.

Leisa gave his sister a grateful smile. It was a bit hard to do anything with the girls on his lap. They seemed happy though he knew Lenya was fine with the baby. He wasn't so sure about Jemmada.

Emalee thanked her gently and rolled her neck and leaned back to her the knot out of her back. Jemm smiled at the easy going relationship that the 2 women shared and for a moment she felt jealousy in the pit of her stomach at how she missed out on this type of thing.

“There they are!” Kiyna cried as the crowd as a whole realised the aerial Dragon rider show was about to start. Lenya looked at the baby and focused on her. She had seen the practice enough and heard K’yar telling Kiyna about it for last couple of days to not be impressed anymore.

Leisa followed Kiyna’s indication. He smiled as he watched the dragons. They were certainly a sight to see. “Your daddy is very impressive, Kiyna.”

Kiyna nodded. She never got old of watching the dragons. “Kylith.” The girl yelled happily as she saw a brown dragon dived down. “Course my daddy is.”

“I much prefer Hold guards and thread ground crew.” Emalee flirted, making Lenya laugh a little as she bounced the baby a little to burp her. Lenya looked down at the baby and smiled. Whilst Jemm was jealous of the connection between the women, Lenya was jealous of her brother's little family. Lenya would give anything to have another baby And not have the trauma she had, had with Kiyna.

Leisa chuckled as Kiyna got excited. It was easy to see the little girl adored her father. He glanced over at his wife with a grin. “I am glad to hear that cause I'm partial to my little family,” he smiled. He had no idea that Lenya and Jemmada were feeling jealous of anything.

“Give it a rest you two otherwise I won’t trust you to look after Kiyna tonight.” Emalee grinned at Lenya’s words and shook her head.

“Can’t help but agree.” Jemm laughed blushing a little at the display.

“I just love your brother Len.” Emalee responded looking away to see a green dragon roll over in the air.

“I bet that was Calarya.” Kiyna stated proving just how much a child of the Weyr she was.

“She knows everyone.” Lenya said with a roll of her eyes.

Leisa laughed. “It feels good to be able to act this way though,” he grinned. He was impressed by Kiyna’s knowledge. “It seems that way. Very impressive.”

Emalee grinned and glanced at her sister and offered a smile as she looked thoughtful. Jemm smiled back as she realised she was caught staring. “I think Kiyna attends far too many wing meetings with her father. But she is not wrong, I do believe that was Calarya.” Lenya laughed looking up again. She was impressed with her daughter's memory though.

“Could be worse,” Leisa chuckled. “At least she is learning good things and she does have quite a memory.” He couldn't imagine trying to remember all those names. “What do you think, Elsa? The dragons are impressive aren't they?”

“They are Daddy but they are a lot bigger than I thought they were.” She had only ever met the little green weyrling dragon who had given them a lift to the gather.

“Sometimes too good,” Lenya commented with a fond smile as the baby in her arms burped and then promptly fell asleep to happy to be fed and in the sun to do anything else. “I am good to keep holding her Em. Get some food or something.”

Leisa smiled at his daughter. “They are big,” he agreed. “I bet if you ask Kiyna and Aunt Lenya they would let you meet K'yar's brown. You can see how friendly they are.” He was starting to truly respect the dragonriders.

“I am sure we can speak to daddy.” Kiyna assured already making it her mission to get Elsa to meet bigger dragons. Elsa snuggled back just content to watch the dragon display.

“Maybe you can come to the Weyr sometime.” Kiyna as she heard the music from the harpers became her favourite harper Ballard about dragon wings.

“Not sure Uncle Leisa can go to the Weyr.” Emalee teased her husband a little.

Leisa hugged his daughter, laughing a bit as Kiyna offered for her to come to the Weyr. He raised a brow at his wife. “Now wait a minute,” he smiled, glancing at his sister. It had certainly been a while since he had stepped foot in the Weyr.

“Maybe if he asks permission this time he’ll be allowed.” Lenya grinned and slowly handed Amisa to Emalee. All this talk of the Weyr made Jemm think it might be the best place for her away from Leisa and his disapproval of her.

Leisa frowned, shaking his head. “Yeah that hadn't been a good idea,” he slowly agreed. He had messed up a lot through the Turns but was trying his best to make things better.

Lenya leaned over and ruffled his head. “The Weyr guard no longer have you on the watch list.” She teased him. Emalee shifted over to him and lay her head on his shoulder.

“You know I would not mind a night at the Weyr if you wanted to see your sister more if we planned things.” She whispered.

“Are there any positions open at the Weyr?” Jemm asked Lenya making the older girl shrug.

“I do not know. Not my area of expertise but if you want to see I can take you back with me when I go back to change before the ball.” Lenya offered kindly.

Leisa playfully glared at his sister as she ruffled his hair. “Well that is good to know.” He smiled as Emalee leaned against him. “I would like that. We will have to plan something soon.” He'd love to see Lenya and he had no doubt Elsa would love it.

“Then we can decide when I come and get Kiyna tomorrow,” Lenya assured smiling. It seemed everything and everyone were finally moving forward even Jemm.

“Sounds great.” Leisa was looking forward to it.
