RCW Right person

Mission: 3531 AL

Mantith bugled in delight when he caught sight of the glistening water just below him. He barely stopped long enough to let his rider off before splashing right in, nearly looking like a big fish himself.

K’rei laughed as he dismounted quickly. He couldn't really fault the blue. He loved to swim himself but the north was extremely cold. Down here though was as nice as Riana had told him it would be.

“Typical blue,” Nerilyn commented as she pulled herself up the ladder of the dock from where she had been checking some nets to keep the dolphins from under the pontoons. She smiled at the man as she passed him, not at all phased by the fact that the blue had splashed above her. There were so many new riders and dragons now that she could not keep track.

The young man jumped a bit, not having seen Nerlyn there. “Yeah I'm pretty sure Mantith is part fish. He even went swimming the lake at High Reaches,” he commented with a shiver. “Oh I'm K'rei,” he introduced himself.

“Sorry, I was under the dock on the pontoon making sure the anti-dolphin nets are in place otherwise, they take the pontoons.” It was a nightmare to persuade them to bring them back, and she did not want to ask a favour from the riders all the time to help. “Now that is cold. I’m Nerlyn.” She said, raising an eyebrow as he said High Reaches.

“Oh yes. Dolphins certainly love that little game. I remember trying to convince them quite frequently.” He chuckled. “Yes it is cold. It's nice to meet you Nerlyn.” Mantith bugled a greeting from the water where he had found some dolphins.

Nerlyn smiled at the blue as some of the pod dived under the blue making friends. “You used to be a sea crafter?” Nerlyn wondered raising an eyebrow as she realise this might be the blue rider that K’ron and Neilla had made friends with at High Reaches.

Mantith happily played with the dolphins. The blue had always liked dolphins.

K'rei nodded. “Dolphineer actually,” he answered. “Planned on making that my craft until Man came along. Although he loves the dolphins nearly as much as I do.”

“We’ve swapped places.” Nerlyn admitted gulping back the tears. ”I used to be a rider and now I am a Dolphineer.” She added for context as a dolphin squeaked in her direction making Nerlyn smile as Oceania made her presence known.

K'rei's eyes widened. “Wait, you’re that bronze rider’s mate? Umm K'ron was his name right?” He hadn't actually expected to run into her. He smiled broadly when Oceania appeared. “Hey pretty girl.”

“Certainly is his name.” Nerlyn assured. “Whatever you have heard is all lies I swear.” She added assured kneeling down to smooth Oceania nose as she clicked in Nerlyn’s direction checking on her.

The blue rider smiled.. “Just that you were a dolphineer and he mentioned you guys have a little boy. Thinking those are true?” He grinned. He held his hand down toward the dolphin. “What's your name pretty lady?”

“Well those things are true.” Nerlyn mumbled quietly as she grinned herself. “I’m very much a dolphineer. This is my partner.”

“Ocea…nia.” The dolphin told him as she whistled at Nerlyn.

“So no lies,” K'rei chuckled. “Were you the one who drew the picture of the little boy?” he asked. He had seen the picture when he had helped gather K'ron's things after the incident.

“That is a pretty name, Oceania. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

The dolphin squeaked again before returning to her pod with a flip of her fin. “No lies. Never tell which bronze rider you heard about me from. I did. If I had not become a rider I would have been an artist.” Or that’s what she told her self to soften the blow.

K'rei chuckled as Oceania returned to her pod. Mantith crooned happily. “I didn't get a chance to speak with the other bronze rider much. He was down with our Weyrwoman.” He nodded a bit. “I can see that. That picture was lovely.. Was it your son?”

That sounded like V’ros and why he was there other than A’ren other protectiveness and worry which was justified. “Thank you. Yes unless K’ron had another son that he carries a picture of. No judgement of riders after all.” She said with a wink.

The blue rider chuckled a bit. One never knew when it came to riders. “I highly doubt that,” he grinned. “Especially when all he talked about was you and your son.”

“Course he did.” Nerlyn rolled her eyes and shook her head. “So what brought you down here, blue rider?” She wondered thinking it was an unusual route to take for a walk but maybe he had gotten lost.

K'rei chuckled a bit. It had been sweet. He shrugged a shoulder. “Guess my old life still hangs on. I love being near the water and Mantith wanted to swim anyhow.”

Nerlyn could appreciate the call of the ocean. It was hard to ignore especially if you had that spark in you. “Certainly came to a good place for the call of the ocean.” She commented quietly as she pulled out her binoculars to look out across the ocean.

“Reminds me a bit of home,” he said. “But definitely much warmer here. I don't mind dangling my feet in the water,” he chuckled as Mantith still happily played in the warm water.

Nerlyn smiled a little. River Cove was her home and despite how sad it made her to think how it no longer felt like home sometimes it was where she belonged.. “You should find some new friends and head out to the islands. You’d enjoy it.” She suggested softly.

“The islands huh?” K'rei asked. That sounded like fun and he did like to explore. He also doubted Mantith would mind as long as there was water to play in..

“Ask your new wing mates. I am sure they would love to show you properly.” She said holding out her binoculars to him so he could see them in the distance.

He accepted the binoculars and smiled when he saw the islands. “Shards, those look gorgeous. Thank you for the suggestion, Nerlyn.”

The woman nodded as he handed the binoculars back to her and she stashed them back on her belt. “Anytime. I am full of suggestions.” She had a lot to experience growing up at River Cove Weyr before and after being a rider.

“Guess I met the right person then,” he smiled. He was looking forward to getting to know the Weyr and the new riders.
