RCW: A Moment Together 2/2

Mission: 3531 AL

Nerlyn sighed happily as she sat on the shore of the small pool watching K’ron swim around. Barely any words had been spoken since they had gotten there, both letting the other have a little space to do their own thing for a moment. Nerlyn stood up finally and pulled the thin dress off over her head and looked around the pool for the easier way in before just gave up and dived forward.

K'ron laid on his back, just floating in the water. It felt good to just forget everything for a moment. Tyreth and Koda were with Raen and R'kig and Nerlyn seemed happy. He quickly sat up though, sinking into the water as Nerlyn dove in. He laughed a bit.

The woman dove under the man and appeared on the other side. She could have gone longer but thought it might scare him. “Thought I’d finally join you and cool off.” She declared as she swam the last couple of meters to him.

He smiled as she resurfaced not far from him. “I’m glad you did. The water’s nice.” It was nice to be like this, just the two of them enjoying each other's company.

“You looked lonely.” She teased as she joined him and treaded water by him. “It’s not deep either, which is nice.” She admitted thinking she could easily dive down without a rebreather to get pretty rocks for Raen without worry as she was no longer able to dive distances.

“Maybe a little bit,” he teased back. “But not now.” He was enjoying this easy banter they were having. “That's true,” he agreed. They didn't need deep as the dragons weren't there with them.

“Can dive down for rocks.” She grinned mischievously as she bobbed in the water for a moment before diving down into the water tickling him as she did.

“Hey!” K'ron laughed as she tickled him. He tried to move out of her reach but even with her being pregnant she was still a better swimmer then he was.

The woman grinned as he escaped her clutches as she dived deeper looking for rocks. Nerlyn appeared several minutes later breathless but clutching several rocks in her hand to show him.

He shook his head as she finally reemerged. “I don't know how you stay down there so long,” he chuckled. It always amazed him. “and what did you find down there?”

“3 turns of practice.” She assured him. “With a rebreather I can last longer.” She blushed feeling proud that he was amazed by something she did. “Just pretty rocks for the tumbler me and Raen are building at the hall.”

He chuckled a bit. “That is insane,” he smiled. That was quite a talent. He looked at the rocks she had collected. “That sounds fun. I'll be curious to see what you guys do.”

Nerlyn bit her lip at the retort that she wanted to say insane like her at points but she was trying to be kinder to herself. “Just using water to tumble rocks. It‘s just something daft we are doing together to see how it works.” Nerlyn shrugged a little as she swam to shore and put them with their items of clothing.

K'ron saw her bite her lip. “Did I say something wrong?” He asked. He hadn't meant to. He was impressed by what she had learned over the Turns. “That sounds like fun though.”

“No… I had a self-deprecating retort about being insane and I stopped myself.” She said as she swam back to him. “Trying to be kinder to myself.”

“Ah and I'm glad you are. You do need to be kinder to yourself,” he said, still treading water where she had left him.

“It is hard sometimes but… I know I need to be kinder to myself.” She assured looping her arms around his neck.

K'ron smiled, wrapping his arms around her waist. “you do cause I love you and I want you to be nice to yourself,” he whispered, kissing her softly.

Nerlyn closed her eyes at the soft kiss and kissed his back. “Yes, bronze rider.” She said with a slur on how she said bronze rider as usual. “Thank you for loving me until I was able to love myself a little better.”

He couldn't keep a smile from his face, loving how she said bronze rider. “anytime. I’ll always love you,” he whispered.

“Mmhmm.” She whispered kissing him again before she unlooped her arms and indicated the waterfall. “Wanna see what’s behind the waterfall this time ?” She wondered quietly.

He was reluctant to lose her presence but followed her finger. “That sounds like fun,” he agreed. they hadn't done that last time they had been here.

The dolphineer grinned and started across the cool pool to where the river trickled into the pool. She stepped under it and laughed at the sensation of the water trickling against her skin.

K'ron followed behind, soon being hit by the water's spray. He grinned as they got to the other side, water dripping from their hair and bodies. “Well that will wake you up,” he laughed.

“I wish I had something like that every morning. I’d defo be better at waking up at the moment.” She grinned as on the other side of the waterfall there was a small alcove and Nerlyn pulled herself up onto and sat there.

The bronze rider raised a brow. “You want to get splashed with water every morning?” he asked curiously, leaning against the wall beside the alcove she now sat in.

Nerlyn burst into laughter. “Well I do that as a dolphineer K’ron but it’s refreshing.” She explained. It made her feel fresher somehow. “Coming up?” She wondered wriggling a little backwards to make more than enough space for him.“Hmm you have a point. Wasn't thinking about that.” He nodded and jumped onto the ledge with her. “Much better,” he agreed.

Nerlyn continued to laugh a little as she lay her head on his bare shoulder as she shifted a little forward. She sighed happily as she closed her eyes just listening to the river fall in front of them.

K'ron was very content where he was. It was nice to sit and enjoy Nerlyn’s company without anything else being in the way. Sometimes it seemed like they were their own worst enemies.

After a very long time Nerlyn moved her head and pressed a kiss to his shoulder. “How is the clutch?” Nerlyn ventured having realised she had never asked in all the excitement of R’kig that morning. She had been tempted to sneak a look but had not gotten that far in her morning.

He glanced over his shoulder, giving her a smile. “Really well. Zalyith is very protective of them but i do believe Jena said this are 38 eggs,” he commented. The clutch had looked really good.

She wanted to know about that part of him, she just worried that it would set something off in her.
“Good number.” She smiled back feeling a sense of relief that she had finally asked and it had not been that difficult.

K'ron nodded. “It is. Ty wants to go down but Zalyith isn't ready to share yet,” he chuckled. The gold hadn't been happy with him there.

“I am sure when she is ready she’ll share.” Nerlyn promised kissing his shoulder again. “Is… is the Weyrwoman’s 2nd doing okay?” she wondered quietly. She did not see the woman often but whenever she did the woman apologised for flights which made it more awkward but Nerlyn appreciated that she went out of her way to reassure her.

“You're right,” he agreed, shivering at her gentle touch. “She's doing well. K'vin keeps her company most of the time,” he answered. He liked Jena. She made a good gold rider and thankfully she didn't expect more either as he refused to leave Nerlyn.

“Good.” She said finally. “Sounds like it is all leading to a great hatching and impression.” It was nowhere as awkward as it could have been. She needed to ask these questions and probe that part of his life as it was not something she could keep not asking about properly.

K'ron smiled a bit. “It does. I hope it all goes well.” He leaned back against her, hoping she was doing okay. He knew talking about the dragons was hard for her.

Nerlyn smiled sadly as he leaned back against him. She wrapped her arms around his shoulder and kissed his neck. “You better save me a dance.” She was wanting and willing to go to the celebration if he wanted it.

K'ron shifted enough to be able to see his mate, his eyes dancing. “Little Bird, all my dances are for you,” he assured her. “I just promised Jena one then I am yours the rest of the night,” he promised.

“I just need one dance, K'ron. You are a bronze rider who’s hatching it is.” She said loosening her arms so he could shift to look at her. She offered a softer brighter smile to him. “I want to support that part of you just like you support me and Dolphineering.”

She did have a point but that didn't mean he wanted to go far from her. “Not sure I'll ever get used to that. Ty siring a clutch,” he chuckled, happily staying against her. “Thank you. I want you there with me.”

Nerlyn nodded. Already thinking of the dress she wanted to wear to change the memories associated with it. “I am sure you will.” She said with a roll of her eyes and a laugh.

“Maybe,” K'ron laughed. He was just as happy if Tyreth didn't win those flights. He was grateful though that Nerlyn wanted to go with him. He had been afraid to ask because he hadn't wanted to bring up bad memories.

Nerlyn loved hearing his laughter and he had not laughed that much since the gather. “Just don’t win Kalaith’s flight hmm.” She offered as a suggestion ducking her head to kiss him properly.

K'ron shivered at the thought. “Not a chance,” he chuckled. He certainly didn't want in the middle of that one and he didn't want to be Weyleader. He leaned into her kiss, happy to see this side of her.

Nerlyn pulled from the kiss with a soft sigh and kissed his cheek. “Sorry I know the dragons decide.” She added with a soft kiss to his cheek.

The bronze rider shook his head. “It's fine and trust me I don’t want to be Weyrleader,” he assured her. “I am quite happy with you and Raen.” He really didn’t want for anything else.

“Oh we will always be around.” She smiled a little more as she caressed his cheek before kissing him again. “K’ron I am trying to be supportive towards you. I am not always the best at that so I am trying to be kinder all around to all of us.”

“You better be,” he smiled before leaning into her kiss. “And I thank you for that. If there is ever anything that is too hard to handle, please talk to me. I want to help.” He loved that she was trying but he also wanted her happy too.

Everything some days was too much to handle but she got out of bed and tried her best. “I know that’s why I stayed and I am currently kissing you behind a waterfall.” She mumbled against his lips.

He chuckled huskily. “And I am really liking this waterfall,” he smiled against her lips, turning to be able to wrap his arms around her.

“Be careful.” She whispered smiling at the way he wrapped his arms around him. It had been nearly a month since before High Reaches that they had kissed like that.

K'ron pulled back just enough to look into her eyes. “Of what?” He asked innocently. For the first time in a while he felt like they were going to be okay and not have walls between them.

Nerlyn looked at him confused before she narrowed her eyes at him pretending to be innocent. “Your shoulder.” She murmured rolling her eyes as she pulled him into a kiss again.

He laughed a bit and wrinkled his nose at her. “Yes ma'am,” he promised, being pulled closer again. He returned her kiss, not wanting the moment to end.
