RCW: Talking part 2

Mission: 3531 AL
Timeline: M3 D17

As he had suspected, K'ron didn't sleep at all. He was up early and slipped down to the Dining Cavern to grab some food and drinks for everyone.

Once he had everything back in the weyr he walked out on the ledge with Tyreth, his own mug of klah in hand. Thankfully Koda was still sleeping with Raen so he could think for a bit.

Nerlyn had woken confused and alone in bed despite knowing that K’ron had been there with her last time she had woken up. She had hoped for a nice morning wake up to try and get rid of the sadness that had seemed to surround them last night. She slowly got up and cleaned up before wrapping her robe her around herself as she stepped out of the bed chamber.

She spotted the food and raised an eyebrow as she slowly slipped out to the ledge. “Have you actually slept?” The woman wondered leaning against the entrance out of the ledge.

K'ron started a bit at the voice while Tyreth crooned at her. The bronze loved Nerlyn almost as much as his rider. K'ron sighed softly before taking a sip of his klah. “I tried to but no not much,” he reluctantly admitted.

“And sighing at my questions… well this does not bode well.” Nerlyn said leaning out to scratch Tyreth just where she knew he would like this early in the day when he was still trying to wake up.

Tyreth nuzzled Nerlyn's outstretched hand. “Sorry,” K'ron said. “It's been a long night.” He pushed to his feet, not wanting to seem rude. He knew he was worrying her.

Nerlyn smiled at the bronze before turning to look at the bronze rider. “What is going on Kiron?” She demanded. Her voice was soft so as not to wake Raen but she was worried.

K'ron ran a frustrated hand through his dark hair. “Are you sure you want to hear?” He asked quietly as Tyreth curled back up. K'ron really didn't want to do this, but shd deserved to know. 0

Nerlyn had not seen him like this in a long time. “Got to be better than what is going through my head right now.” The woman became confused as she pulled her hand back from the bronze rider to look at him.

K'ron nodded. That might be true but he still hated it. He handed her his klah so she could warm up while they talked. “The Weyrleaders called me to their office yesterday,” he started.

Nerlyn nodded. “Thank you.” She whispered, wrapping her hands around the mug, enjoying the warmth that went through her in the early morning light. She should have put on something more than her robe “Okay?” She stated not sure why that would lead to him looking like he would rather be anywhere else.

He knew that didn't make any sense. Talking with Lana and A'ren didn't always mean something bad. “That didn't explain it well,” he said, looking up at her, his eyes showing sorrow. “Lana wants to go north and look at their records. They want me to accompany her.”

“North?” Nerlyn murmured as she listened to what he said. “Why does she want to go north?” She wondered, thinking that she might already know deep down.

K'ron nodded slowly. “To see about timing,” he whispered. What a total mess. This wasn't something he had ever expected. “I don't want to go,” he said.

Nerlyn blinked several times as she sat down on the dragons couch as she felt the strange sensation hit her hard when her mind reached out for Leaneth. She closed her eyes and shook her head. “Why…” she whispered softly. “Why does the Weyrwoman want to delve into this?”

Tyreth turned around to rest his head next to Nerlyn, crooning softly. K'ron shook his head as he knelt in front of his mate. “I don't know,” he admitted. “I just kept arguing i can't go.”

Nerlyn opened her eyes to look into his stormy eyes and shook her head. “This is ridiculous.” The dolphineer said quietly putting the mug down and watched her hand shaking before she lay it flat.

K'ron scrubbed at his face. “I don't know what to do, Nerlyn,” he admitted quietly, agony written across his face. He didn't want to leave her but he could only argue with the Weyrleaders so much.

“You are a rider. You have to do what the Weyrleaders need you to do.” Nerlyn whispered looking at the agony across his face.

He looked up at his mate in surprise. “But i can't just leave.” That timing thing had thrown Nerlyn for a loop and he had thought for sure he was going to lose her. He couldn't just leave now.

“Why not?” She questioned softly wrapping her arms around herself as she tried to stop her mind wandering. She glanced to the dragon and saw his eyes whirling with the same emotions as his rider.

“I am not leaving you and Raen,” K'ron answered simply. “Especially not now.’ No he was not taking that chance. Tyreth moaned softly, clearly not understanding everything.

“You can’t tell the Weyrleaders no. So … it’ll be fine.” Nerlyn assured quietly as she thought through what she needed to do for the next few days. “Me and Raen can go to dolphin hall for a few days.” She decided. It would allow them to be safe and easier for her duties.

“And why can't I? This is our lives. How do I just walk away?” He didn't want to but he knew she was right too. He couldn't say no.

“You’re a rider and…” she pushed. “.. the Weyr and this big guy come first and your Weyrleaders need you to do this.” Nerlyn said softly sratching eye ridge.

Tyreth nuzzled her hand. K'ron sighed in frustration. “There are other riders that can go. Why me?”

“No one else knows what I did.” Nerlyn looked away from his frustration. “You are getting punished because of me being too full of pride and duty and you wonder why I feel like a screw up.” Nerlyn whispered, shaking her head. This was exactly what she knew was going to happen, someone she loved was going to be punished because of her.

Tyreth's eyes whirled in worry. He didn't know how to comfort either of them. “You're not a screw up. You' were helping the Weyr the only way you knew how to,” K'ron sighed in defeat. He knew there was no getting out of this. He would have to go.

Nerlyn just nodded. He had to go and do his duty. “When do you leave?” She finally asked in a whispered voice.

K'ron sighed in frustration. “Two days,” he answered quietly. He didn't want this. He didn't care that he was one of the few who knew about Nerlyn. He wanted to be with her.

“Okay.” Nerlyn said, closing her eyes as if sealing herself. “Plenty of time.” She decided as she rose to her feet and stepped around the man.

“Plenty of time?” K'ron was confused. Nerlyn was taking this, having to leave a whole lot better than he was. Tyreth crooned softly at Nerlyn.

“I am not going to be able to stay here so I need to organise staying a couple of nights at dolphin hall.” She pointed out gently as she heard the subtle noise of Raen waking up and talking away to Koda.

And that was just one more reason why K'ron didn't want to go. “I still don't like leaving you and Raen,” he said quietly, smiling slightly when he heard their son.

“I know but being a rider comes before me and Raen.” Nerlyn reminded him with a sad smile. “I’ll go get him up.” She stated.

K'ron hated when Nerlyn threw that at him. He knew being a rider came first but his family was important to him. Especially keeping Nerlyn sane.

“What?” She challenged as she saw his look as she gathered herself to get Raen up and face the day with knowing that K’ron was leaving.

He shook his head a bit. “I just hate when I'm reminded how my duties have to come before my family.” And this would be why the riders didn't raise their children, but things were different for him and Nerlyn. “Sorry that sounded harsher than I meant it to. It's just hard as i want to be there for you guys and Ty.”

“No it’s exactly how it should sound.” Nerlyn said softly as Raen appeared at the doorway stopping Nerlyn saying anything else.

“Mummy and daddy are up.” He said confused and sleepy as he held a stuffed bronze dragon to his chest. Nerlyn smiled and crouched to to lift the boy awkwardly into her arms.

K'ron opened his mouth to protest but Raen showed up, effectively ending that conversation. “Hey buddy,” he smiled as Koda glided in behind Raen. “Hope we didn't wake you.”

“No.. I woke up from a dream.” the boy yawned as he snuggled into Nerlyn as she propelled themselves up.

“I hope you are hungry as your dad went and got breakfast early.” Nerlyn said quietly as she glanced to K’ron.

The bronze rider hoped the dream was a good one at least. “I tried to get something everyone likes,” he promised his son.

“Stonefruit!” The boy yelled as he spotted the juicy fruits he liked the best.

“You will turn into a stonefruit if you are not careful.” Nerlyn commented kissing the boy before she sat down with him on her lap.

K'ron laughed a bit. “Well at least he would be a cute stonefruit,” he smiled, sitting down across from them. He rewarmed Nerlyn’s klah and poured himself some as well.

“Thank you.” Nerlyn said politely as she picked up the klah and took a soothing sip as Raen grabbed up the stonefruit and started devouring it. At least one of them felt like eating.

And this is why K'ron hadn't wanted to say anything, but then not telling Nerlyn had been driving him mad. A slight smile touched lips as Raen dug into the Foos. Koda joined them a few moments later.

Nerlyn sighed as she looked at the clock. “You eat up. I need to get ready.” She said scooping the boy up and putting him on the chair. She quickly left the pair together and disappeared to the bedchamber to start finding clothes to wear for bell watch.

K'ron watched his mate disappear. He sighed softly. This was a total mess and he didn't know how to fix it. ):you will,:( Tyreth crooned.
