Mission: 3531 AL

K'rei quietly walked around the Weyr, Rylin on his shoulder. The blue rider was still trying to learn his way around and for the moment his dragon was sleeping down on the beach. Mantith was taking advantage of the warm weather while he could.

“Lana wasn't kidding when she said this was a maze,” he whispered.

“Are you lost blue rider?” Neilla wondered as she came out of her wing room and spotted the man walking towards her. She had no idea where he was meant to be but she suspected it was not there.

K'rei turned at the voice and smiled at his fellow rider. There were still a lot of riders he didn't know. “Just a bit. I'm just trying to get my bearings so I don't walk in circles all the time,” he answered as Rylin watched Neilla suspiciously.

“Can’t be that much different from High Reaches other than being cold.” She laughed a little. Their were always stables of every Weyr no matter where you went across Pern. Not that Neilla have been to many places other than High Reaches to bring back the Weyrwoman.

The blue rider rolled his eyes with a laugh. “You would think not but yes it is different from High Reaches. The Weyrwoman warned me it would be like a maze for a while.” This was definitely going to take some getting used to.

“Well this area is the wing meeting rooms and I do not think we are in the same wing but where were you trying to go?” She wondered softly. She might not be impressed with anyone from High Reaches but this man had been kind and helpful.

K'rei did remember meeting Neilla at High Reaches after the whole mess with K'ron getting injured. “Ah okay. I'll try to remember that. I was honestly just trying to remember where the important areas are from my weyr. Mantith is down at the beach so I started there.”

“Well nothing down here other than lower caverns and wing leaders' offices. Who’s your wing leader?” She wondered deciding to help him and repay the debt from him helping her get all K’ron’s items home.

Shards, he definitely got himself turned around then. “The Weyrwoman,” he answered.

The woman raised an eyebrow. “You are in the Queen’s wing?” She wondered why he would be there and not in one of the higher level wings.

He nodded. “I am.” He didn't know if that was good or bad but he didn't have any reason to argue the point. “Is that odd?”

“Well you are fit and healthy. Blue riders are very much needed but maybe the Queen’s wing needs assistance due to Jena being tied to the sands.” Neilla said quietly wondering if she was overthinking it all. She knew there were many former high reaches riders there and none of them had shown the same attitude.

“Oh,” K'rei said thoughtfully. He didn't know what Lana's reasoning was. All he knew was that was the wing he had been put in. “Well thanks for noticing,” he chuckled.

“What that you are fit and healthy?” Neilla said smiling more as she indicated that he should follow her to at least get out of the depths of the Weyr.

“Yes that,” he laughed, turning to follow her. He really needed to pay attention to where he was. Just so he didn't get himself turned around again.

“Hard to miss blue rider.” She laughed a little at him as she walked backwards. “I can stop admiring you if that makes you uncomfortable?” She challenged grinning.

K'rei raised a brow at her. “Don't think I was complaining,” he grinned at her. “Besides what man wouldn't want a beautiful woman noticing them?”

Neilla just stared back at him. “Oh there’s the blue riders flirtiness I know and love.” She laughed, turning back and around to face the proper direction. “Thought you were just pretending to be a blue rider.” She teased as they got to one of the entrances to the bowl.

He laughed a bit. “Nah, no way Mantith can be any other colour,” he grinned. “All blue rider. Shall I prove it?” He teased her. It was a lot easier to flirt here then it had been at High Reaches.

Neilla laughed and relaxed properly. He was nothing like the riders she had met in High Reaches, he no longer looked like he was carrying a dagger and he had a great smile. “Maybe later.” She assured.

“I'll hold you to that,” he grinned. When he had first met Neilla, she scared him. Of course, she had been angry about her bronze rider being injured and maybe worse.

“Promises… promises.” She said slowly to make her point very clear. She smiled as she looped her arm through his and encouraged him to keep following her. “So, anywhere else you want to try and see?”

K'rei laughed. “Oh I keep my promises,” he assured her with a smirk. He kept pace with her as she led the way. “Well I think I finally figured out where my weyr is in regards to the Dining cavern,” he laughed. “Any other important places i should know?”

Neilla shook her head at the smirk. That was more the cocky northern rider that she expected. “Hatching ground? Feeding ground? Weyrling barracks? Healers?” She offered suggestions.

“Ooh healers might be a good thing to know,” he grinned. “Although maybe the Weyrling Barracks as well so I can tell Laliy hello.” He hadn't had a chance to check on the young gold rider.

“I am sure you’ll find them if you ever need them, " she assured, but pointed to the lower main cavern entrance. “The new Queen Rider? She seems to be doing well. I have seen her a couple of times when I have been on watch.” She indicated the other side of the lake and where the wooden barrack buildings were.

Neilla had a point. The healers weren’t usually hard to find. He nodded. “That's her. I knew her from High Reaches. Glad she's doing well.” He knew High Reaches had tried but poor Laliy had been put through a lot.

“Our Weyrwoman and Weyrwoman 2nd will get her into shape and up to speed.” Neilla assured. Lana had barely got through half her weyrlinghood when they lost their former Weyrwoman but she had been so much older than the girl they had brought back from High Reaches. Lana had been able to control the bronze riders and control the political landscape. “And I brought her back so I know she’ll be fine.”

K'rei nodded. “Glad to hear. She definitely got the short stick at High Reaches.” He didn't know Jena but he had no doubt Lana would take care of her. “Ah so you got to be her ride.”

“It happens.” She shrugged looking around them. It was early evening so most people were either in the dining cavern or settling down for the evening. “So… what have you got planned for your evening?” She wondered thinking he had to be bored being in queens wing with less active status.

It did. He was just glad Laliy would finally get a chance to thrive and grow. He raised a brow at the green rider, a smile tugging at his lips. “Did you have something in mind, green rider?”

“Oh me. Never. Was just wondering how bored you are?” She leaned out and rubbed her thumb over his eyebrow to stop him raising it anymore.

“Hey,” he laughed as her thumb trailed across his eyebrow. “Very bored if you want the truth,” he answered. There hadn't been much to do.

“I bet. Come join me and my wing mates?” She offered pulling her hand back as he laughed. “We do not bite… well unless you are into that type of thing.”

“I like the sound of that.” He could do with meeting some new people. “Hmm yeah not really my thing but one never knows,” he laughed. He had heard some interesting stories.

“Tonight might surprise you.” She offered as she turned on her heels and started across the bowl. “Come on then, blue rider. Fun is this way.” Neilla declared. She knew she was having fun once in a while with R’kig, but they weren’t exclusive or had even discussed what they were other than friends.

“Is that so?’ He asked curiously, wondering just what kind of surprises she meant. “Fun sounds great,” he agreed, following her across the Bowl. After two Turns, he finally felt like himself and was no longer guilty all the time.
