Lana returned to her weyr well after the glows was lit and sighed as her feet felt like they had when she had been a weryling and trying to understand the change of her life from Crafter to Dragonrider. She had gone to bed every night exhausted from the mental and physical toil and that night felt like those times and it had been turns since she and Kalaith has been weyrlings.
}: You are tired? :{ Kalaith asked from her bed as she watched her rider pass her. She watched with whirling eyes. She did not like her rider exhausted as it meant she would get poorly and Kalaith wanted her well.
*** I am. It has been a long couple of days. *** Lana explained smiling as she scratched the great queens eyes ridges. *** But I am going to bed. I am hoping A’ren is asleep so one of us is rested.***
}: A’ren is awake. :{ Kalaith said, making the Weyrwoman raise an eyebrow as she realised the Dragon remembered the man’s name. That had not happened before he was always Zarminath’s rider or Weyrleader.
*** He is called A’ren now? *** Lana wondered.
*** He is your choice. *** Kalaith said before snorting and moving her head away from the woman’s reach as she lay it on her forearms. Lana smiled and just moved through to where indeed A’ren was hunched over his desk. She moved over and leant her hands on his shoulder and squeezed.
A'ren had completely lost track of time. After drills and checking in with all his wingleaders he had grabbed some hidework and headed for his weyr. He had every intention of making sure Lana got in early but of course that didn't work.
Zarminath snorted. }: Keep telling yourself that. You never sleep.:{
A’ren glared at his bronze but when he felt Lana’s squeeze he knew Zarminath was right. “Hi,” he said, looking over his shoulder.
Lana moved her hands from his shoulder wrapping her arms around his shoulder and just breathed in the familiarity of him. “Hello Weyrleader.” She breathed leaning forward to look at what he was trying to work on. “You have spelt Calarya wrong unless you have a new wingsecond called Cafarya?” She wondered putting it back down on the desk.
“What?” He asked, quickly looking back at the charts. “Oh Shards,” he groaned. Apparently, he had been staring at the hides too long that he had missed that. Ooh, Calarya would have a fit if she knew.
The woman chuckled and squeezed him a bit as she stared at the hidework mistake with him. “So no more hide work for you my love.” She told him wondering why he was still awake when she had advised him not to wait up for her. “You should have gone to bed.”
“That's probably a good idea.” He shook his head. “And I said I wasn't going to until I knew you were here,” he pointed out. Apparently, they both needed to go to bed.
“Stubborn mule.” She murmured against his neck softening her words with a kiss there before she squeezed him and stood up straight unwrapping her arms from around him. Lana held out a hand to him when he finally stood up.
He laughed tiredly. “I can be,” he agreed. No sense in denying that. “Mmm that feels good though,” he whispered, setting his hand in hers. He was tired.
Lana shook her head and led the man through the dark weyr to their room. She noticed that a drudge had been in and had tidied up the space a little and turned the glow over so that a soft light lit the room now. She would have to thank the woman as Lana had not made the bed or tidied up the chaos of the last few days. “Bathe or straight to bed?” She questioned sitting on the bed to lean over to undo her boots.
A'ren quietly followed his mate. He smiled a bit though when he saw their room. When had the drudge even been in here? They owed her. The Weyrleader hid a yawn. “As much as I would love a bath with you, I don't think I can keep my eyes open.”
Lana smiled at the man and shook her head. “Bed it is.” She declared chucking her boots and socks away to the corner before starting on the rest of her clothes. “Can you keep your eyes open enough to undress or do you need help?” She teased turning to him as she pulled her tunic over her head.
“Is that an offer?” He asked, grinning. He was tired but actually having a few moments with his mate would be great. He started tugging his own shirt over his head.
Lana tugged off her clothes leaving herself just in chest band and underwear and came over to him. She easily pulled his shirt over and kissed his bare shoulder. “Always.” She whispered wrapping her arms around his neck and just hugged him close.
He chuckled huskily as she beat him to his shirt. “You're making it very hard to think about sleep,” he whispered, holding her close. He kissed her hair, not wanting to let her go.
“Not so tired hmm?” Lana teased as she wiggled against his chest for a moment just enjoying the warmth from him. It had been days since they had, had a moment like this and even longer since they had, had time to savour it if they wanted to.
A'ren shook his head. “Definitely starting to wake up,” he chuckled. He couldn't even remember the last time they had had any time together. “You're a temptress,” he whispered, nuzzling her neck.
“I am just a woman who needs to show her mate how much she values him.” She responded reaching between them to undo his belt.
“Is that so?” He asked, shifting just enough to let her closer. “Well I could definitely get used to it,” he grinned, kissing her lips.
The woman kissed him back as she worked the belt free and chucked it behind her with a proud look as she pushed him slowly back towards the bed pushing down his trousers and underwear as they went. “It’s not been that long?” She wondered.
He laughed, tumbling back on their bed with her in his arms. “It's been a while but we’ve both been busy,” he assured her, running his hand up her back to get rid of her chest band.
Lana nodded accepting his comment as he had meant it as fact not a poke at her or the state of their relationship. They had been busy, the north had offered assistance as they were over crowding with several large clutches and the South needed fresh riders untainted by Dragon Hold shenanigans so it worked out but it had meant a lot of late nights and planning for weyrleaders, weyrlingmasters and wingleaders. More time spent with bronze riders than she cared to think about. “I am just glad it’s just this bronze rider now.” Lana murmured as her chest bad was loosened and removed.
It had been busy. Neither of them had really gotten much time to stop and eat let alone spend any time together. Tonight though despite being tired that was going to change. “And dear gold rider you are not getting rid of this bronze rider,” he whispered, kissing her bare shoulder.
