Rena sighed as she woke to the urgent feel of the baby bouncing on her bladder. It was not unusual but she still was not used to how different her body felt this time being pregnant. She opened her eyes confused at the strange bedroom and the sensation of someone against her back and an arm over her waist. These were not her rooms? It was cooler than she was used to and she was normally alone.
She glanced back and smiled a little as she realised it was Bensen still sound asleep. It did not help her bladder issue which made her slip out of bed and disappear off to the bathroom to take care of what she needed too.
Bensen had actually slept better than he had in a long time. He shifted a bit though when he felt the warmth that had been curled against him. He opened his eyes part way just in time to see Rena's retreating back.
The woman returned ten minutes or so later feeling a little relieved. She looked at the man still asleep in her opinion and moved to the fire, it was still lit but it was chilled in the room. She chucked on another log and watched intrigued as it started to light and warmed up the room.
“You okay?” He asked softly, not wanting to scare her. He did enjoy watching how the fire played across her hair, but he also wanted to make sure she was okay.
Rena turned as she heard the soft voice and smiled rising awkwardly from the floor coming back over. “I did not know you were awake. I was going to sneak back to bed.” She said softly slipping back under the fire. “I am fine. Just needed the bathroom.” She laughed a little.
He gave her a sleepy smile. “haven't been awake long,” he answered, shifting as she joined him in bed again. “Ah as long as you were okay.”
“Of course. I was hoping to be gone and back before you notice. I did not want you to wake up alone.” She said, smiling back at him and how sleepy he looked. “Go back to sleep Ben.” She prompted him leaning in to kiss his cheek.
“Saw you slipping into the bathing chamber,” he answered. He had known she wasn't running. He had just wanted to make sure she hadn't needed anything. Bensen yawned again before giving her a smile. “Are you sure you're okay?”
“Good. I do not want you to think that about me. I am not Lenya.” The woman smiled and moved close to him and lay her head against his arm. “I am sure I am okay.” She promised.
That hurt a little but Rena knew what Lenya had done to him and he was grateful to hear she wouldn't do the same. “Thank you. That means a lot. And as long as you're sure. You let me know if you need anything.”
She knew that hurt had run deep, she could remember the morning he had stormed around and admitted everything. She had never let anyone else know about it. “I am.” She assured, smiling at how sweet he was despite how sleepy he sounded. “What could I possibly need in my husband's bed?” She wondered teasing ever so slightly
Bensen hadn't meant to rant and rave that day to Rena but he had been grateful for his friend. Also now she could understand a little of his hesitance from time to time. He chuckled a bit, not awake enough to catch the teasing. “Umm,” he mumbled.
Rena smirked at the man and leaned forward pressing her lips against his and caressed his cheek. “Sleep Ben.” She whispered watching him carefully trying to work him out and why this felt so nice.
He wanted to argue and stay up to talk to her, but her gentle kiss and soft words were lulling him back to sleep. He just nodded sleepily, letting his eyes drift shut again.
The harper smiled as she watched him for a long moment sleeping before turning away to lie there and just enjoy the closeness. The soft sounds of the breathing next to her and the crackling if the fire did not send her back to sleep but it did settle her down and relax her enough that it was the first time in seven months.
