Mission: 3531 AL
Location: High Reaches
Timeline: M3 D27

K'rei had hated seeing the River Cove Riders leave. They had been interesting to talk with but he couldn't blame them for wanting to get back and make sure their fellow rider was alright.

The early morning found him headed for the dining cavern for a quick bite to eat the following morning after the riders left. He had watch duty later in the day but he couldn't stop thinking about riders. He quietly found a place to sit and enjoy breakfast.

Riana smiled as she spotted K’rei sat in the corner and wander over. “Are you okay?” She wondered thinking the man looked gloomier than normal. He was normally the person she relied on to cheer her up.

K'rei looked up from his meal and flashed Riana a smile. “Morning Riana. Yeah I'm good. Just thinking about everything that has happened.”

Riana pushed her hair behind her ear and smiled a little more as she thought she could understand that. She had not had the opportunity to speak to Lana but she had seen Neilla. “Not your fault. Not mine either. You know what this place is like.” She reminded softly.

The blue rider nodded a bit. “I do and I don't like it. That should never have happened. I just hope that other rider is okay.” Rylin cheeped softly in agreement.

“K’ron is still alive, otherwise we’d have Nerlyn standing in the bowl demanding the man who had killed her mate. I know Nerlyn very well.” The green rider assured quickly. “But you cold leave K’rei… There is nothing holding you here.” She reminded him quietly.

K'rei cringed. He hadn't thought about the possibility of K'ron's mate showing up. at least he was still alive. “Sharding T'han. What was he thinking?” He looked up at Riana in surprise. “I guess not. I never thought about leaving permanently,” he admitted.

“T’han will be punished. He will never make Wingleader, never make Weyrleader. He will never make anything of himself now. He was not thinking. He was emotional and not thinking with any of his brain other than his ego.” Riana reminded him rubbing her stomach as the baby kicked hard. “You have the option. Could go to Rover Cove. It is an amazing Weyr. I only left because I just could not stay there with Dragon Hold trying to kill me because of who my Weyrmate was and my child was.” It had been many turns for her to move on so she did not mind talking about it now.

K'rei nodded. The bronze rider had certainly messed up his life. “I hadn't considered that,” he said. Maybe he would. “How are you feeling?” The blue rider blinked. “Seriously? That is insane. “

“You must have been too drunk last time I told you.” Riana laughed a little. “I am okay. This pregnancy is so much better for me.” She assured him. It was thanks to a flight but she would not change it all. “What did you think of Neilla? I saw her dragging you in here.” She teased him trying to get the conversation somewhere else.

He wrinkled his nose. “That's a possibility,” he finally agreed with a laugh. He would have thought he would remember something like that. “Glad to hear that.” K'rei considered her question. “She is interesting. I would have liked to meet her on better terms then a knife threatening me.”

“Interesting hmm?” She wondered, laughing a little. Was she really using Neilla of all people to tempt him to leave the Weyr and save himself whilst he could before the new queen riders got there. He had never been happy in the deep north and it had been even worse been his mate and babe had died.

“I wasn't with her long, but the Weyrwoman was very nice as were the two bronze riders with her,” he said. He had had a little bit of a chance to speak with V'ros and K'ron before the whole fiasco. “But if I leave who's going to watch over you?” He asked softly. Riana had become a good friend.

“Oh I do not need anyone watching over me. I do have other friends.” Riana liked the blue rider as someone who had kept an eye out for her. It was not always easy for her to trust without a sexual element to a relationship but she was trying here. The pregnancy was thanks to a flight. “Get your chance to get some sunshine. And if you ever meet a man called V'lik, be extremely kind to him as a fellow blue rider because I put him through a lot.”

He laughed a bit. He had no doubt that Riana could take care of herself. “Maybe I will. You have definitely given me a lot to think about.” K'rei couldn't imagine Riana being cruel to anyone. “I'll do that.”

“I normally do give blue riders a lot to think about.” She grinned at him knowing he would be a good fit. "There are dolphineers and no snow.” She teased him a little knowing he would thrive better there.

K'rei rolled his eyes with a laugh. He would miss Riana. She had made things a bit easier after losing his mate and baby. “Okay that is hard to pass up on,” he grinned. He would love to be around the dolphins again.

“You have a second chance.” Riana advised gently. She could never go back there but she would always send people who would appreciate how special the place was and the people were. They needed people who were like them.

He smiled. “I'll look into it. It sounds like a great place and I could use a change.” It had been different when Talyn was alive. Now nothing was really keeping him at High Reaches.

Riana nodded. She knew her pushing would not help any longer so she stayed silent and just sat there enjoying the company. She would have to savour it because she knew he was going to take the chance and she wished him all the luck.
