Bensen leaned on the rail to watch Star in the pasture with her foal. The two were doing well. Hope was growing like a weed and starting to grow into her long spindly legs. Star had been a great mother and she was willing to let himself and Brenna mess with the foal. Not all runners were as sweet natured as the mare. Now just hopefully her foal took after her and not Thunder.

Rena smiled as she watched her husband and sided up to him but did not climb up onto the rail. She’d not be able to with the bump safely. “You were up early today.” She greeted turning her smile on him before looking back at the pasture watching the runner with her foal.

He turned at his wife's soft voice. Shards he loved being able to say that. Bensen smiled and lifted an arm to slip around her waist. “Thought I'd get a little work done before coming down to see how the runners were. I wanted to work with Star and Hope a bit,” he answered. And maybe get Thunder out but he didn't say that yet.

“Far too busy for barely sunrise. Did you defeat the hide work?” She said, yawning. She had barely woken up after him but he had been gone before she could say anything. She really needed to have an earlier night to try and catch up but it would be impossible that day with a celebration of their marriage happening that afternoon.

He chuckled a bit. “Never enough time,” he admitted. “But yes, for this moment I defeated it,” he grinned. Bensen really would have rather stayed snuggled in bed with Rena a bit longer but there was still a lot to do before the afternoon.

“Good for you.” Rena had to teach harper lessons in a candlemark but she had wanted to have some fresh air beforehand to wake up better than anything else. “So what do you have planned for these 2 then?” She wondered.

Bensen turned back to watching the mare and foal. “I'm thinking about seeing how Hope does on a lead rope. Hopefully Star will be okay with me trying that,” he answered. He loved working with the youngsters.

“She’s not too young then?” Rena wondered as Cadence appeared and fluttered down onto her shoulder and curled around protectively. She was become a little more relaxed around Bensen but still did not like her pet being out without her.

“No. It will just be a couple steps so she gets used to it,” he answered. He wouldn't make Hope do a lot but the more she could learn as a foal the better of an adult she would be.

The woman nodded in understanding. She really had a lot to learn if she was going to have a chance to do anything to assist him and honour Oseben. “Make sense.” She commented, touching his hand around her waist still. Why did this feel so natural?

He turned just enough to kiss her hair. “There is a lot to learn but it is enjoyable and so far Hope has been a great example. I feel safe letting Brenna help with her and Star,” he smiled, liking having her close.

“So much and I am meant to be a Harper. I should know how to learn new things.” She grinned a little at that statement knowing there was a big difference between harper and beastcrafter for a big reason.

Bensen chuckled a bit. “We’ll get you to know the basics,” he smiled. “Besides Bre and I will help you,” he teased. He knew there was a lot to learn but he liked teaching and working with the runners.

“Well, she does belong to her family of beast crafters. I do not believe there’s any harper blood in her.“ Rena said with a roll of her eyes as she turned her gaze back to the runner and foal. She really did hope that this child was more like her secretly as she wanted someone in her family to continue the tradition.

“Oops,” Bensen chuckled as Star came over to nuzzle them. “I could try to talk up the Harper craft with her if you like, but it will be hard. I love being a beast crafter,” he grinned, reaching out to scratch Star’s nose while Hope watched them with big brown eyes.

Rena rolled her eyes again and leaned up to stroke Star’s neck. “Like I would take away her passion and the passion of the people who love her.” She said smiling. “You better be kind to my girl Star.” The woman said stepping away from Bensen to lean up.

He chuckled a bit. He knew Brenna’s interests could change as she grew up, but if learning the beast crafter trade was what she wanted then by all means he would teach her.

Star burred softly as she nuzzled Rena's shoulder as if she was promising mother to mother to be good to Brenna. Hope whickered softly, putting her velvety nose through the fence for Bensen to rub.

“Thank you.” Rena took the runners' behaviour as she was going to be good to her daughter. She had to admit this runner was a lot nicer than her last experience which was a blessing. “Well on that note I should really head back.” She admitted thinking of the class she had to run that morning.”

The mare bobbed her head, causing Bensen to grin. “Not all runners are man eaters,” he promised. “And you should see Bre with Star. It is impressive.” Star was certainly a picture perfect runner in all respects. If things went well with Hope, he was hoping to gift the little filly to Brenna. “Already?” He asked.

Rena did not believe that all runners were like Thunder but he was the only runner she had had much experience with until the pair in front of her. Rena turned to look at him. “Yes?” She asked, making it sound like a question in her surprise at his question.

He was glad that Star was being her sweet self with Rena. Maybe with time Rena could learn more from the mare. “I just can't believe time has gone so fast. I was enjoying the company.”

“Well unfortunately dear husband I have a class of very excited children to teach soon.” She laughed leaning out to touch his shoulder. “But the company wishes she could stay longer.” She soothed smiling at him wishing she could stay longer but she had duties much like he had.

Bensen nodded. He knew she did. And honestly he still had things to get done before the afternoon. “And I would rather you could stay but I understand. I have a few things yet to do too.”

“Should have stayed in bed.” She teased him softly leaning up to kiss him quickly on the lips finding the affection easier and easier between them.

“Good point,” he smiled, leaning into her gentle kiss. He was glad that they both seemed to be relaxing and getting along now.

“At least tonight we get to have a few dances.” She reminded him with a smirk as she quickly stepped back before the kiss became deeper and they both got distracted.

He laughed as she stepped out of his grip. “And I plan on enjoying those dances,” he grinned, his eyes dancing happily.

“I’ll hold you to that.” She squeezed his hands before wrapping her cardigan around herself more against the morning chill and started back to the main hold. It was going to be a great day she could just feel it.
