G'van stretched a bit after getting back to their weyr. Sweeps had gone well, although he wouldn't mind stopping for a bit. He collapsed on the couch and stretched his arms above his head.
“Well, that was fun,” he chuckled. “I've never known a child to be so quiet, selfless, and sure of himself. His little sister though, reminds me of Calvan at that age,” he chuckled. The children had been fun to be around. Even Leith and Dystath seemed to enjoy themselves.
Calarya wandered around drying her hair as she listened to her mate. “It was scarily direct. I can see F’cone in his mannerisms, but it’s not toxic.” She said almost sadly before she smiled at the mention of Calvan. “She does. Though Calvan gets just as excited now he just contains it better.” She chuckled a little.
G'van looked up at his mate. “I have to agree.” Mian definitely acted like F'cone. “No not toxic. Thankfully. True,” he laughed, thinking about their son. Calvan was growing way too fast.
“Can Thank Faranath for that,” she said stopping to look at him. “Are you just going to lie there or clean up?” She wondered, smiling. They did not often get to do sweeps together but it had been nice to watch him on Dystath being a rider.
He looked up at his mate with a grin, his stormy eyes dancing. “Haven't decided yet. I'm pretty comfortable,” he teased. It had been nice doing sweeps with Calarya. It definitely wasn't normal but very nice.
The woman rolled her eyes and stalked over to him, throwing the towel to the side. If he wasn’t going to move, she would sit on him. “Did the mean green rider boss you around and make you work hard today?” She wondered, sitting on his stomach, grinning more.
“Oof. And the mean green rider isn't as light as she thinks,” he teased, shaking his head a bit. Leave it to Calarya. They certainly never had a boring day.
Caalrya rolled her eyes as she looked at G’van, daring him to continue. “Oh, suddenly, brown rider, you can’t pick me up?” She demanded poking his chest as she wiggled on his stomach before making a move to shift off of him.
“Oh no you don't,” he laughed, catching her around the waist before she could move. “Never said I couldn't still pick you up,” he grinned, keeping her pinned on his chest.
Calarya gasped as she was grabbed and brought down to him properly. “You said I wasn’t light.” She said, grinning back at him as she stroked his sweat-soaked hair off his forehead. .
He grinned. “Maybe not but I can still lift my mate,” he assured her, his eyes dancing as she moved his hair off his forehead. “You know though you're gonna need another bath.”
Calarya was not sure how to take that, she had always thought she was dainty compared to other riders. “Oh am I huh?” She wondered looking down at the smudges on her shirt and rolled her eyes.
“Hey now,” G'van said as he realized how that sounded. “That didn’t come out right at all. Sorry.” He definitely didn't want her thinking she was fat or anything. “And you are. I'm still dirty and sweaty after all.”
“Seen you in the worst states.” She said shifting a little off of him to wiggle free and stand up. “But you have dirtied my shirt that I was planning to wear to bed.” She laughed a little, brushing away what he had said wrong.
“That's true,” he agreed with a chuckle. They both had looked much worse. Threadfall left you like that. “Oops,” he said, clearly not repentant. He did really need to clean up too if he was honest.
The woman offered a hand to pull him up from the couch. “I’m clean enough. Just need to change my shirt.” She decided with a shrug not wanting to have another bathe.
G'van accepted the help this time as she pulled him to his feet. “I still need to get cleaned up. I don't want to get our bed all dirty. That definitely wouldn't be nice to sleep in.
”Rather you did not do that.” The woman nodded. “Enjoy.” She said, pushing him toward the bathing chamber as she slipped into their bedroom to change her shirt.
He rolled his eyes with a laugh. “Okay okay,” he grinned. “Be back soon.” He slipped into the bathing chamber to get cleaned up.
“Take your time.” She assured thinking it would be nice to have a moment's peace and quiet without anyone around her. She changed her shirt into a thinner one and sat back on the bed leaning her head against the wall.
G'van took a little extra time to get all the sweat and grime off his body. It always surprised him how sweaty they could get just sitting on the dragons. After he was sure he was actually clean he pulled on a loose pair of pants and went to find Calarya.
Calarya smiled as she saw him come out and opened her eyes from where she was just sitting there thinking about the day. “Feeling better?” She wondered gently.
“feel much cleaner,” he answered, running a hand through his still wet hair. “Now hopefully I won't get our bed all dirty.”
“You’d be sleeping in it alone.” She commented with a smirk as she looked him over before returning to her eyes closed and just enjoying the moment.
“Well that wouldn't be any fun,” he smiled, laying down beside her. He put his arm behind his head. “It was a good day,” he commented. He loved seeing the kids.
“It has been,” Calarya said quietly, glancing at the man with a smile.
}: Yet you are troubled? :{ Leith wondered sleepily.
***Nothing for you to worry about, dear*** Calarya quickly assured as she looked at the man waiting for her to come snuggle down with Him.
G'van smiled before shifting to snuggle against her. “Reminds me of all of Calvan's questions. Although I was surprised by Mian. I didn't realize he was so quiet.”
“He thinks deep like the ocean. Not every child in the Weyr is like our boy.” Calarya said gently as she shifted down so they were close and she could smell the sweet sands on him instead of the dragon smell from earlier. “Calvan is certainly one of a kind,”
Calarya was right. No one child was the same. “He is. And he is our one of a kind,” he smiled, rubbing her arm after she snuggled down next to him.
Calarya nodded quietly as she settled down and just lay there enjoying the warmth. “I’ve been thinking… been thinking about the fire head incident.” The woman ventured.
G'van glanced over at his mate. He could see something was on her mind. “You have?” He asked quietly. “What about it?” He had hated that. He hadn't been able to help her at all and then the loss of the baby only added to the awfulness of that whole time.
“The miscarriage and the fact that we never really spoke about things after that time.” She admitted, gently hiding her head. “The little girl today would be about their age.” She decided gently.
The brown rider closed his eyes tightly at that thought. “They would have been,” he agreed. “I was just so happy that you were alright that I was trying not to think of what we lost. Might not have been my best idea,” he answered softly.
“I was similar. I was working so hard on trying to not push you away after that initial day that I never spoke on it all either.” She reminded him for a moment remembering the way she had screamed for him to get out as she did not want him seeing all the blood.
He sighed a little. He remembered that very vividly. She wouldn't even let him close to at least to comfort her. “Yeah, don't think you've ever yelled at me like that before.” He honestly wasn't sure if it was the blood or the violent reaction from Calarya that had scared him worse.
“I do not believe I have ever yelled at anyone like that. I was terrified between the fireheat and miscarriage, I was not even sure in that moment if I was not in a nightmare or something.” She felt very vulnerable in that moment as she spoke about it all.
He wrapped an arm around her to keep her close. “I've only ever been that scared once in my life and I hope to not ever repeat it. I thought I was going to lose you and when you showed your fighting spirit and came back around I think the baby just slipped from my mind. You being safe and alive had been all that mattered,” he whispered.
“The runners?” She wondered softly, thinking of his fear of runners from when he had been a teenager. She smiled a little as he whispered to her that her being safe and alive had been all that mattered, it made her shiver a little and remind her of his most attractive quality- his heart.
He nodded a little. “Yeah,” he whispered. It was actually a bit odd if he thought about it as he now rode a dragon, but he was never afraid of Dystath. G'van looked down at his mate, glad to have her in his life.
The whispered words made her wrap her arms around his a little more. “Never going to happen again. I am sorry you thought that.” She said gently caressing her thumb over his hand on her stomach.
He closed his eyes briefly. “Good because I don't want to lose you,” he whispered. G'van shook his head briefly. “It's okay. Just something in my past that creeps up from time to time.”
“Only thread will ever take me from you.” She said honesty. “I am stronger than I look. The past sneaks up on us all why I was thinking about that day.” She admitted just having been thinking about how that child she lost would be around Falayna’s age.
He nodded. None of them could control Thread. “Oh I know you are. Never doubted that,” he smiled. “It does. You just never know what will trigger the past. Are you okay though? I hadn't thought about how hard it might have been to be around Falayna.”
“It was not until it was just us two here that I had thought about it. But yes I am okay. It was just a moment where I thought about that lost child.” She had been careful in not getting pregnant since if she was honest with herself she did not want to go through that again even if fire head was unlikely to hit them.
“Okay as long as you are okay,” he answered softly. That had been a scary time in his life that he never wanted to repeat. Firehead had been bad enough without adding the miscarriage. “It was fun to watch the kids though with all their questions,” he smiled.
“I am. It was meant to be at that time but today has been a good day.” Calarya was not one to dwell on that. She had been lucky to find out about the baby before she had gone between to many times and caused an abortion. She
“It was a nice day,” he agreed. Watching the children had been fun and getting to do sweeps with his mate was an added perk. That wasn't something they got to do too often.
“Let's hope tomorrow is just the same.” She whispered before she turned around to look at the man. “Thank you for always being the man I need when I need him.” She said quietly, smiling.
“I agree.” They could use some good days. G'van gave her a smile as he played with her hair. “Always,” he promised. “No matter what I'll always be here.”
“I know. You are mine.” She said simply. She was not going to give him up for anything after all this time. She had never trusted to let anyone close until him and Lyna was right once it hits you, you know how to fight for that person.
