RCW: Catch up

Mission: 3531 AL

Nerlyn sat alone in the dining cavern looking tired and washed out as she surveyed the food on her plate with mild disgust as it was not appealing. She had missed lunch due to an injured dolphin so she was getting the dregs of what was left. She really did not want to ask Tula for help when she was obviously busy so she was trying to force herself to eat it because she was hungry and tired, she really just wanted her bed after dawn survey of the water gauges which meant being up just after the third candlemark and sleeping at Dolphin Hall.

K'ron quietly walked into the dining cavern as Koda had shown him that was where he would find his mate. Now the little brown happily perched on his pet’s shoulder while K'ron managed to pull a few strings and get some fresh bread. He then walked over to where he saw Nerlyn.

“Coin for your thoughts?” He asked, sliding the fresh bread toward her.

The woman looked up at the fresh bread from moving pits around her plate and offered a smile to the man. “Thank you.” She said, “Nothing to share really K’ron just struggling to eat.” She admitted picking up the bread roll and smothered a piece in butter.

He took the seat across from her so he could see her. “Baby making it hard to eat?” He asked gently, remembering how she had been with Raen. He hated seeing her that way. “And no problem with the bread. You looked like you could use something warm.”

“This is not the best either, which isn’t helping my tired brain and nausea.” She said pointing to the dry veg and wherry. She took a bite of the bread and made a happy sound as it tasted amazing compared to what she had been trying to force down.

K'ron glanced at her meal. “It was much better when it was fresh.” It didn't look appetizing at all. “Do you need anything else?” He would do what he could to find food if that was what she needed.

Nerlyn suspected it had been as Tula would have never let it out of the kitchens like that. “This should do. Thank you for offering.” She said quietly still picking at the bread but she looked a bit less glum at the prospect of eating now.

He nodded. “As long as you're sure,” he said, taking a sip of his klah. “Must have had a pretty busy day then if you missed the fresh food,” he commented.

“Injured dolphin so never made it back until now. Sorry if I worried you and missed us lunch together after being missing last night.” She admitted knowing she was meant to meet him for lunch but she could not exactly just up and leave even if she was tired and hungry.

“It's okay,” he assured her. “Koda let me know you were okay,” he promised as the brown puffed out his chest. “Is the dolphin alright?” He didn't know if their bonds were exactly like with the dragons but he knew you still didn't want to see your partner hurt.

“Course he did.” She said smiling at how proud the little fire lizard looked. “It was an un-partnered pod member. Seems she got hurt on one of the wrecks.” She said with a shrug. A few days and she was sure the dolphin would be okay. It happened from time to time before not normally quite as sever.

K'ron chuckled. “you know he loves keeping an eye on you and Raen,” he answered, scratching the flit's chest. Koda cheeped happily. “Ouch. Poor girl. Glad she will be okay.”

“I know but you do not need to worry.” She reminded quietly looking at the plate in front of her and continued with the bread and butter.

“And I am never going to stop worrying,” he told her. He had told her that countless times and it wasn't going to change. He would always worry about her.

Nerlyn just offered a sad smile before she looked away. She was not going to argue. “How did healers go yesterday?” She wondered not having caught him before she had dropped Raen off to Tula and gone down to Dolphin Hall.

K'ron knew she wanted him to stop worrying but it just wasn't in his nature. He did grin at her next question. “Stitches are out and Thalia gave me some exercises to do so I can work toward getting back to my wing.”“

“Well that’s positive. Feel looser or easier now?”
She wondered looking up again, smiling at the grin on his face. It made her heart flutter and remind her how attractive she found this man even in little moments like this.

“It does. Not such a pull. Still a bit tender and the exercises aren't fun,” he laughed. “But it's nice to have some freedom again.” He knew it would take time yet.

Exercises were never fun and she could remember them from a few injuries that she had received. “You look happier.” She assured licking her fingers to get the butter off of them from the roll.

“I am. I don't feel quite as useless and I'll be able to get back to my wing soon. Not to mention I don't need the sling and Thalia prescribed swimming so guess what? I get to spend more time with you and Raen.” He didn't really have any reason not to be happy.

“I am sure Raen will be thrilled for us to go swimming together.” Nerlyn knew their son was desperate to get them all happy together doing things again. “Maybe once you are able to ride Tyreth again we can go to the islands
Like we promised.” She suggested slowly thinking it had been the promise to Raen before things had gone wrong.

K'ron had no doubt Raen would love it. He nodded. “I think that is a great idea. I should be able to fly straight soon enough.” Between was still a question but at least getting back on Tyreth would be good.

”So make sure you can do that by doing the exercises so that can happen soon enough.” She pointed out smiling a little more as she finished up feeling a little happier now that her stomach was no longer growling. “What have you got planned for this afternoon?” She wondered if she might be able to persuade him to join her in bed for a little bit.

He nodded. “I'll do that.” K'ron shook his head a bit. “Not a whole lot today. Just my exercises but G'len has the wing under control so i’m pretty free right now,” he admitted.

Nerlyn smiled sadly. She knew he was desperate to get back to his wing and do what he did best but he seemed less anxious and annoyed about it all now which was nice. “Come back to bed with me?” She wondered hopefully.

K'ron was definitely feeling better. At least things were going in a good direction. A smile touched his lips. “I can most definitely do that,” he agreed. That sounded like a perfect idea.
