RCW: Let's go on a trip

Location: River Cove Weyr

Nerlyn gave it ten minutes but she could not delay things forever which was why she changed into some comfortable clothes and set Raen off doing some of his harper homework to distract him. He was not at all happy about it as he wanted to go on his adventure but Nerlyn had assured him it was still going ahead; they just needed to solve a few issues. She had an idea on how they could all have a nice day but whether the pair would agree to it would be another thing. She ventured out into the dragon weyr.

“Do you think it is safe to approach them, Tyreth?” She wondered absently as she stood by the bronze dragon glancing out to the pair. Neither was yelling so that seemed positive.

Tyreth turned his head as Nerlyn came up beside
him. He crooned softly at her, letting her know it was safe. His rider didn't seem mad or in pain. He seemed sad if anything which confused the bronze a bit.

Nerlyn smiled, taking that as it was safe to approach and scratched his eye ridges before going out onto the ledge to speak to the pair. “Safe to approach?” She wondered quietly keeping her voice low just in case Raen came out.

K'ron turned at his mate’s voice and smiled. “It's safe,” he assured her, although his brother still looked torn up. How had he missed all that? And why hadn't R'kig said anything? It didn't make any sense to him.

R'kig gave Nerlyn a weak smile. He was trying.

Nerlyn approached better and looped her arm through K’ron’s. She did not like ledges much but it was okay with them with her. ”So what is our plan because I have an idea. Why don’t we all go to the east island? You and Raen can go off and do adventure stuff and me and K’ron can have our own adventure. We are close but not that close.”

K'ron kept close to his mate. He knew she didn't come out on the ledge often so he definitely didn't want to be far from her. He shook his head. R’kig hadn't really said anything about a plan.

R'kig managed a shaky smile. “That sounds like a good idea,” he agreed. With the way he felt having them close was probably a good idea.

Nerlyn smiled back and leaned out touching his hand for a moment. She knew how he felt to admit that he had a problem but she was not about to give up on him. “What about you K’ron?” Nerlyn wondered looking up at the man. They could properly talk about it all and their son could have a nice day.

K'ron nodded. “Sounds good to me,” he agreed. they could all do with a day away.

R'kig tried to give Nerlyn a reassuring smile. He was trying. It just wasn't easy.

“Well then. You both sort out your dragons and I will sort out Raen.” Nerlyn instructed, which was why less than an candlemark later the group were descending to Nerlyn’s favourite of the four islands that were about a mile or 2 off shore. Nerlyn wrapped her arms around the Bronze rider tightly and lay her head against his back happy to be up high and feeling the wind through her hair.

Both brothers nodded before R'kig turned to jog off to get Rizerth ready. Once in the air Rizerth stayed on Tyreth's left wing catching the thermals from the bigger bronze. R'kig kept a tight hold of his nephew as Raen looked around at everything.

K'ron reached down and gently squeezed Nerlyn’s hands around his waist. He enjoyed times like this but he knew how it brought memories back for Nerlyn too.

“I’m happy.” Nerlyn yelled against the wind as she glanced over at Raen hollering with happiness at riding the blue dragon. He had refused to fly with them and Nerlyn could not help but see the happiness on his face.

“Good,” K'ron said over his shoulder. Things were looking good today. Now if they could just get R'kig feeling better.

R'kig laughed as he watched his nephew. The boy was so happy and it was hard to be anything but happy around him.

Nerlyn let go of him and held out her arms just enjoying the sensation for a moment before she snuggled back against him. She felt good sat there with her bump between them as they started to circle down to the familiar beach.

Tyreth was even more careful in his landing this time so he didn't jostle Nerlyn.

Rizerth landed a few seconds behind Tyreth, lowering to the ground to let his riders off. R'kig quickly undid their straps before helping Raen down.

Nerlyn easily climbed down despite her bump after a few moments to snuggle against K’ron still. “Thank you Tyreth.” She thanked the big bronze already taking her sandals off as she watches Raen shooting off towards the ocean.

Tyreth inclined his head with a soft chirp. K'ron certainly wasn't opposed to the extra couple moments of cuddling. He landed beside her and started laughing as his baby brother had to jog to keep up with Raen.

“This was a wonderful idea, Ner,” he smiled, tugging his own boots off.

Nerlyn let out a piercing whistle that made Raen instantly stop a step before the water touched his toes. “Sorry mama.” He called as he remembered to put in his life preserver before he went any further. Nerlyn smiled at the boy and nodded at him before she turned back to her mate.

“Thought we could all use it.” She shrugged.

R'kig turned at the whistle as well, smiling a bit when he realized it was Nerlyn stopping Raen. He gave her a grateful wave as he had a moment to pull his own boots off to chase Raen into the water.

K'ron nodded at his mate. “Yeah you are definitely right. We can.”

Nerlyn smiled keeping her eyes on the boy until he was done with his jacket. She knew the dragons especially with Raen’s ability would be fine with the blue rider. “We are going to go for a walk you two. Stay out of the rip tides in that direction.” she said pointing to where months ago she had put markers to avoid anyone getting caught up in the currents.

“Will do!” R'kig promised as Rizerth padded down to join them in the water.

Tyreth happily curled up in the sand, watching Raen in the water. K'ron smiled at his mate. It felt good to get away from the Weyr for a bit. Although he had a lot to think about now.
