Location: River Cove Weyr
Timeline: MD 2 D20
Kelsa shifted the tray in her arms so she could push the door open with her booted foot. Okay trying to juggle everything hadn't been the neat idea but she wanted to surprise S'ven.
“Hello?” she called, stepping into the weyr. “anyone home?”
S’ven looked up from looking through the weyrling records for the riders they were going to be joining the wing and smiled as he heard her voice. He got up slowly and moved to help her with the door. “Hello, Green Rider.” He greeted surprised to see her as he thought she had a few more candlemarks of sweeps.
A smile touched her lips when she heard the blue rider’s voice. “Hello, love. Hungry?” She asked, setting the tray on the table.
The man closed the door behind her and wandered after smiling at the food aroma that filled his living space. He nodded quickly not having realised he was which meant he had most likely missed several candlemarks zoned out and it was a lot later than he thought it was. “I think I could be as I thought it was a lot earlier. Have you finished sweeps for the day?”
Kelsa picked up a plate and turned to hand it to S'ven. She raised a brow. “I finished about a half candlemark ago,” she answered. “Losing track of time?” She questioned with a smile as she handed him the plate. She then grabbed up one of the two mugs.
“Seems so.” He frowned frustrated with that but he sat down and accepted the plate. “Thank you Kels.” He did appreciate the fact she kept him fed and watered some days when he forgot to focus on anything other than Dareth.
}: You would never forget me:{ Dareth praised happily making S’ven laugh.
“Dareth declared that I would never forget him when I was just thinking about how thankful I am to have you when I forget everything other than him.” The blue rider explained picking up the meat roll.
“Of course,” she smiled, sitting down to enjoy her own meal. “Gotta keep my man fed,” she chuckled, taking a bite of cheese.
The green rider shook her head. “No we can never forget our dragons,” she agreed, glancing out toward the ledge where their dragons were. “How has your day been?”
The blue rider stretched out a little under the table and nodded. He was certainly her man and he liked how that title sounded if he was honest. It was a relief that she declared it not just to him but in public too, she was not ashamed of him. “Long sweep across the ocean. We loved watching the ships.” It was fascinating to see the sails and steam vessels moving with dolphins following.
Kelsa smiled as she took a sip of klah. It was nice to just spend some time like this. There were days that went by where they only managed to pass each other on their way to other assignments. “That sounds like a nice day. the ships are amazing. The dolphins are always entertaining.” Sweeps like that were always enjoyed.
“They are. I want to see if I can get a tour or something of one of the ones in the port sometime” he admitted with a smile, thinking about his childhood dreams a little. He had wanted to serve on a ship but search riders had different ideas. “I have never been out into the ocean, mostly always been inland but it was nice and the sun was shining.” It was always nice when he could find a nice thermal and just follow it.
“That could be fun. Maybe I can go with you,” she suggested. Or did he want to do that himself? She wouldn't take that from him if that's what he wanted. “Mmm sounds like a perfect day. My sweeps weren't nearly that interesting,” she chuckled. “Just boring sweeps over the Holds.”
The man laughed at her statement around sweeps over boring holds. There was nothing boring about Pern and where they lived at all but S’ven was feeling privileged to be a dragonrider and have the time he had. Even with its ups and downs. “Holds are not boring. I bet you saw the preparation for the gather?” She wondered, smiling at the suggestion of her coming with him. He nodded eagerly thinking to ask someone tomorrow could not think of anything nicer.
A grin touched her lips. “You are right. That was pretty fun to watch.” She hadn’t thought about how fun that had been, watching everyone. Kelsa nearly clapped. “Oh this Will be so fun,” he exclaimed.
“So come on then tell me what you saw.” He chuckled, finishing off the meat roll happily feeling better now he had something in his stomach.
Kelsa considered what she had seen. “Oh, there was so much going on!” She exclaimed. “People were everywhere. Some were setting up stalls while others were running around with supplies. It was like a story,” she grabbed, showing how young she still was.
S’ven smiled at her and sat back in the chair watching her. He loved moments like this when he got to see the woman’s truth, it made him thankful that things had happened the way it had with her. He was glad that he had hauled that arrogant bronze rider into the corridor and stopped him hurting breaking her heart. “Then I really cannot wait to go with you if you will have me.”
The green rider stopped her animated speech and looked at the blue rider. “Really? Do you want to go to the Gather? I would love to!” She exclaimed. This would be so much fun. Gathers were always great fun and then to have S'ven with her would be even better.
S’ven raised an eyebrow at her. “You did not think I would want to go?” He wondered gently taking a sip of the juice she had brought with her. It was sour but refreshing and certainly perked him up a bit compared to the stupor he had been in when she had first come in.
“Honestly I had hoped so but we hadn't really talked about it,” she answered. She hadn’t wanted to just assume he would want to go. Not everyone liked big crowds or lots of noise.
The man frowned as he realised that she had not thought that he would want to go when he had assumed that had been the plan. “I… I am sorry Kels that you thought that. I want to go with you because I want to spend that time together.” He said leaning across the table to touch her hand. “I had assumed that was the plan anyway. I should have asked before now.”
Kelsa shook her head with a smile. “I shouldn't have assumed you didn't want to go. Guess we should have talked,” she laughed, turning her hand over to twine her fingers through his.
He squeezed her fingers just smiling at her happily. He had not been to a gather in turns and it would be very nice to go with her and just show her off. “Very much but I am very glad that you want to go with me.” He mused, wondering his schedule for the day thoughtfully. He knew he had volunteered to ferry passengers but he had not heard anything around it yet.
“Of course, I want to go with you,” she smiled. She just hadn't been sure he would want to. She was nearly bouncing as she thought about it. “This will be so fun,” she said excitedly. “I love all the different stalls set up.”
“Have you been to a gather before?” He wondered seeing the excitement in every word she uttered to the point she had stopped eating. “I went to the one where … where things went wrong. I can remember F’cone and Calarya being shot with arrows and him being part of the group that had flown back with Leith. So I very much would like some new memories at a gather.” he was thankful he had not gone last Turn.
“Only a couple when I was younger,” she admitted. Her eyes widened as she stared at him. “Those are awful memories. We need to make better ones.” She couldn't imagine having those as the memories from a Gather.
“That is why there have been no more in the south.” He reminded her as he repressed a shiver at the memories hoping that everyone else involved in that awful day would be able to move on. “I cannot wait to make many more memories with you.”
“Ooh right. I had forgotten that.” She didn't want to think about that time. It was bad. very bad. “Well we will make lots of good memories,” she assured him.
“You would have been just a weyrling and we fought hard to make sure despite R’kig and Cassine being taken that you were protected from emotions that could damage you and the dragonets.” He said quietly. “Anytime with you are good memories.” She had made so many memories with him already that just made him smile and think about her more and more.
That was true. She nodded a bit. That had been a trying time. A smile touched her lips again. “Good because I like spending time with you,” she grinned. “And making memories.”
How could he have become so lucky to have someone who wanted to spend time with him and declared it so openly? He was really thankful for the flight he had one that had put him into her orbit that day. “You, my little green rider are some of the best memories I have.” He happily declared pulling back his hand with one gentle squeeze to return to his food.
She flushed a bit. “Thank you. Don't know what I would do if I hadn't met you.” He had certainly saved her from making a mistake she wouldn't have been able to fix.
“You are an amazing woman. You would have been fine but I am glad you were there when I needed you, not the other way around.” He said quietly watching her blush. He loved that tinge to her skin sometimes as it meant he got to her as much as she got to him sometimes.
“I wouldn't want to be anywhere else,” she assured him. S'ven made her feel important. She had needed that.
S’ven just smiled and nodded his agreement. He wanted her nowhere else and one day soon he really hoped to be able to take that leap. “So what do you have planned for the rest of your evening?” He wondered
The young green rider thought for a moment. “Honestly hadn't planned anything past bringing you food,” she admitted with a sheepish smile.
“Well I really enjoy the sentiment of that but you have a choice I can clean up and we can go to the cavern or I can clean up and we can stay here. Maybe read those books we keep muttering around never quite finishing or play a game of cards or anything your heart wishes to be fair.” He said quickly changing his mind about being bossy. S’ven just wanted her presence if he was honest.
“Hmm,” Kelsa tapped her chin thoughtfully. “I'm all for staying here and figuring out something. Like a bath and a book?” She asked cheerfully. Honestly, anything with him sounded great to her.
“Okay, well, seeing you brought all this here, I will get rid of the dishes. Make yourself comfortable.” He encouraged finishing up his meal, smiling that they were going to have such a relaxing evening after he had stressed her and himself out two nights back.
Kelsa stretched a bit. It would be nice to just relax. they both needed a day just to relax. “I certainly won't argue,” she grinned.
“I won’t be long.” He promised placing a quick kiss on her cheek as he gathered everything easily on one tray and disappeared out the door. He was going to return with wine as well he decided thinking they both were going to unwind and just have a nice evening together without anyone else. She deserved that.
