Talomin managed to finish up a bit early and was able to pick up Lea. After he had his daughter he headed for the infirmary knowing his wife should be finishing up soon and he wanted to make sure she was doing okay. It wouldn't be long before their little one made their appearance.
He stepped inside and looked around. Lea had snuggled against her father and was watching around.
Terlyin heard the footsteps and waddled out to see who was coming in and broke into a big smile as she was met by the pair. “Is this my escape party come to rescue me.” She wondered moving over to them leaning up to kiss her husband soundly before kissing her daughter's chubby cheeks. “You have no idea how happy I am to see you after today's fall. I smell so bad thanks to numbweed and a dragonet tipping over Marblood sap onto me.”
Talomin smiled brightly as soon as he saw his wife. “That's us, huh Lea?” he grinned as the little girl giggled at the kiss. “Was it a bad Fall?” He asked. He hadn't heard any keening so that part was at least good as there were no deaths.
“Just a busy fall. Lots of numbweed used which is great in grand scheme of things.” It was the kind of day that left the healer who decided her specialty was Herbalology recently very busy. “So what brought you both here?” She wondered not often met at the end of her shift by them.
He nodded. That sounded like a decent fall at least. If it was only numbweed that was good. “I got done a bit early so I thought i’d grab Lea and come meet my lovely wife.”
“Lovely wife.” She made an aww face and teared up a little as she looked at him. They had been through so much that sometimes he said things that struck her hard. “Well I am free now I guess.” She said watching as Thalia started checking through files and reports taking over. It was so much easier now it just was not her and Nikolai. There was a schedule and a master now which made things easier. And on a thread day the people of the lower cavern helped more than ever.
Talomin gave her a gentle smile and held his other arm open for her. He had gotten used to her little fits of crying but it was still hard. He loved her and they had gone through so much. “then let's get out of here.”
“Mama,” Lea said smiling as Terlyin came closer again and leaned into Talomin’s arms. The 3 turn old wiped her hands over the tears that fell. “Happy tears. Your daddy is being sweet.” Terliyn promised quickly. She glanced at Talomin seeing the patience written all over his face and rubbed her thumb over his cheek. “Change clothes and then food.”
“Of course daddy is being sweet,” he said, pretending to be offended by then smiling. Little Lea had thankfully grown up no worse for wear over her beginning. “We can do that. Off to our room then.”
“He is the sweetest man I have ever had the pleasure to be married to.” She teased a little just enjoying the moment. Terlyn squeezed him for a moment before she allowed him to lead the way. She was a lot slower than the pair so it was easier for her to chase after them. The trio soon made it their room and Terilyn soon reappeared wearing a light dress. “Only thing that fits other than work clothes.” She laughed.
Talomin chuckled. Even with their ups and downs he couldn't imagine life without Terilyn and Lea in it. He kept his pace slow to stay close. “won't be long,” he said gently.
“I know.” She sighed, rubbing her stomach where the baby had taken that moment to kick her. “Why I am not going to the gather as I am already due. I am not going into labour at Kymos.” She joked as she picked Lea up from the floor where she had wandered to play whisky the healer was getting changed, balancing her on her bump. ”you two better bring me back all the wonderful pastries from Theeressa and Riklan’s.”
“We will definitely do that. We'll miss you but I understand why you're not going,” he assured her. He just hoped he could actually be there for her this time. He didn't want to miss another birth. “Is there anything else you would like?” He offered.
“Nope just you both happy and healthy.” She declared grinning as she danced around the room with Lea for a moment before she winced at the kick. “Ow… I am too big for that right now.” She laughed gently as Lea snuggled close.
“Mama perfect.” She declared.
“Thank you precious.” Terilyn smiled and stroked her hair away from her face.
“Mama is very perfect,” Talomin agreed with his daughter. “Is our little one acting up?” He asked, seeing Terliyn wince.
“Our little one certainly is.” She sighed gently rubbing the spot where she had been kicked or punched. “You would think with the limited space they have in there they would give it a rest.” Terlying smiled weakly and put Lea down with one last kiss before taking her head. “Come on food.”
“You would think,” Talomin grinned, knowing not to laugh. “Alright, food.” He held his hand down to Lea so they could be on their way.
Terliyn was quiet as they walked, got food and sat down in the empty cavern. “My favourite. Stew and dumplings.” She sighed happily as she handed a spoon to Lea and started to fish out bits to cool down for her.
Talomin carried the bowls to the table and helped Lea into her seat. “Mmm sounds good and smells good too,” he commented taking a bite.
“It is yummy.” Lea declared making Terliyn smile as she watched her daughter carefully. She had been doing it for weeks trying to see any sign that she was his daughter but she was not able to see any signs at all which made her hopeful. It was like a block of ice in her stomach sometimes worrying that this baby would prove on way or another and she wondered if it was why she was not in labour yet.
Talomin ruffled his daughter's hair. He knew there were still times that Terliyn wondered but he didn't care. Lea was his no matter what. The little girl was his pride and joy. “Do you get a bit of rest now, Terli?”
The healer blinked a couple of times coming out of her thoughts at the soft words. “I am rest unless there is an emergency other than fall and if I have not given birthday by 4th Nikolai and Thalia are evicting this little one.” She said forcing her voice to sound a little more chirper.
“They can do that?” Talomin asked curiously. He knew what had happened to Lenya but that nearly killed her. He knew Nikolai and Thalia wouldn't do that.
The woman nodded. “We can talk later about it.” She promised leaning over seeing the shadows of memories pass his eyes. “I am in the best place though.”
“I know you are,” he agreed. He knew she was safe in the Weyr. Nikolai and Thalia would never let anything happen to Terliyn.
Lea ignored the pair too distracted by tearing apart a dumpling to eat. Terliyn leant over and ran her thumb over his knuckles. They weren’t teenagers experiencing all of this for the first time but it was scarier as they didn’t have the innocence of the first time.
He gave her a gentle smile. A lot had changed since that first meeting at Far Site. They had been so young then. “Love you,” he whispered.
“Love you more.” She assured gently knowing she really did love this man more than anyone else other than the little girl sat between them quite happy with her life.
