Mission: 3531 AL
Location: River Cove Weyr
Timeline: M2 D20

The tiny feline raced through the Weyrbowl, hiding behind bushes as her young owner chased her. She stopped every so often to wait.

“Fluffy!” Kiyna cried, losing sight of the feline.

Lenya looked up from her book and smiled as the feline finally got the better of the little girl and got out of her sight. “She’ll be back,” Lenya promised softly thinking that the feline was the worst and best thing K’yar had ever gotten in his attempts to make up for the last turns beginning. The feline was affectionate but she did choose the best moments to wake up and zoom around the weyr which seemed to only wake her up.

Kiyna returned to her mothers side. “Why won't she come back?” the little girl whispered. She loved the little feline.

Fluffy slowly started to creep back when she realized her young friend wasn't behind her.

“She sometimes needs time apart but look there she is.” She said pointing to the slim black feline who was creeping back towards them. “Have some juice first before you run off again.” It was nearly getting too hot for them to be out in the middle of the day but a few more minutes would do no harm. It was nice to be sat there reading a book whilst Kiyna and Fluffy chased around. It might bode well for a calmer afternoon.

Kiyna's eyes lit up as the feline crept closer. She nearly jumped to her feet when Lenya said to have some juice. “Okay momma,” she said, sitting back down. She still watched Fluffy though wanting to snuggle her feline.

Lenya watched the girl smiling before she glanced up as several dragons flew above them. “I think that might be daddies and V’lik’s wing.” She commented trying to see which riders were sweeping down across from them sitting on the edge of the bowl.

Kiyna looked up at the dragons. “Daddy?” She asked, trying to spot Kylith. Once the girl was distracted Fluffy crept over and curled up on the little girl's lap.

“Maybe.” Lenya laughed as the feline came back knowing it was safer with them than facing a huge dragon. “We can just wait and see. He was due back around lunchtime.” She was sure that his sweep ended around then today but she might have misread his schedule in the bedroom as she had been distracted within moments of him putting it up.

Fluffy yawned widely and was soon asleep. The feline was quite content. Kiyna stroked the feline’s back, watching for her daddy.

Kylith landed easily and folded his wings to his back. ): yours are over there,:( the brown commented.

K'yar looked over and smiled. His family seemed very content. He worked at getting Kylith's straps off before going to see his family.

“See,” Lenya said happily rising to her feet, putting the book down to greet him properly with a kiss. “Hello, you. V’lik not with you?” She wondered having been hoping to see his brother and have a catch-up with him over lunch if he was free.

“Hello beautiful,” he smiled, returning her kiss. “And hello to you too, sweetheart,” he said, kneeling in front of Kiyna. “He should be behind me. Was just finishing up with Terilith I believe.”

And as if he heard them talking V'lik walked up. “Hey guys.”

“Hello stranger.” Lenya greeted the blue rider. “Coming for lunch with us?” Lenya offered wanting to include him in her little family as he should be if he wanted. She wanted K’yar and V’lik to be close again.

“V’lik.” The little girl cried but was unable to move thanks to the sleeping feline.

V'lik smiled at his niece. “Hey cutie. Do you mind if I join you guys for lunch?”

K'yar chuckled as he lifted Fluffy into his arms so Kiyna could get up. He moved over to stand with the love of his life, a sleepy feline in his arms.

“You are family and we are having a family lunch.” Lenya stated. “Always carrying sleepy women.” She teased as the feline purred and tried to escape. “Let her go, she'll find her own way home. She always does.” She chuckled as the feline raced off to find a sunny spot away from the dragons and noise of the bowl without her owners.

“Yes. Lunch.” Kiyna declared dancing in front of the group as Lenya looped her arm through V’lik’s and pulled him along.

“Is that a bad thing?” K'yar laughed as he sat Fluffy down to go enjoy the sun. He knew the feline would be safe. The dragons would leave her be.

V'lik smiled as Lenya snagged his arm. “Lunch it is then,” he agreed.

Lenya kept him close. She had lots of questions for the man after he missed their breakfast catch up. “So where have you been hiding and why were there six riders lying all over your weyr when I came to grab you for breakfast yesterday?” She wondered as Kiyna laughed having seen it.

“T’mil was snoring daddy. It sounded like when Kylith roars at wherries.” Kiyna laughed.

K'yar started laughing. “Really? He was snoring that loudly?”

Kiyna nodded. She had no idea how Cathlyn had slept through it.

V'lik groaned. “Cause we had all drank a little too much,” he admitted. “And got playing cards. We kind of all passed out in my weyr.” He wasn't sure if he was ready to say anything about Thalia. “I was with a friend.”

“A friend.” She glanced at K’yar and nodded. “Good for you. I would like to meet them when you are ready.” She said, squeezing his arm. She was happy for him as she knew he had been in the same type of mental agony as her over everything that had happened. She did not care if they were male or female as long as they looked after him. “Well it seemed like you had a good night as no one was in any state to answer the door when I banged and then ventured in to check on you.”

K'yar would have to pick on T'mil about that one.

The blue rider chuckled. “Yeah, maybe a bit too much of a good time,” he agreed. He didn't remember much from that night. V'lik nodded. “You will,” he promised. He just wanted to take a bit more time with Thalia before he started introducing her around.

Lenya could see the nerves around him and whoever the person was. She glanced at K’yar and shrugged a little, leaving the subject there. He would share more when he was ready to she was sure of it. “Well I am glad you did. You deserve it and more.” Lenya said with one last squeeze before she let him go to scoop up the little girl before she caused mischief in the caverns.

K'yar shrugged a shoulder. He didn't know who his brother's new friend was and normally V'lik talked. Of course they had been through a lot recently and only just getting back on their feet.

“Thank you,” V'lik smiled. Thanks to Thalia he was really starting to feel normal again.

Lenya nodded at him just happy to see him looking a little brighter even as they stepped out of the sun into the lower caverns. He had been destroyed by it twice over as it was his mate and his brother. Riana had been her friend but it was not the same brother. She shook away those thoughts as she was in a good place now. She was not feeling like she was constantly second best or second choice.

“So how was the wing sweep?” She wondered moving Kiyna around in her arms as she retrieved trays for them all and passed them to the men.

V'lik accepted the tray before plucking Kiyna out of her mother's arms. He loved spending time with the little girl.

“It went well. Nothing out of the ordinary,” K'yar answered as he started to dish food out for everyone.

Lenya was surprised by the blue rider taking the girl and the tray but did not comment. He was strong enough to carry it all and then some she decided with a grin as K’yar piled the food up On her tray. “That’s enough.” She laughed. She was not a rider who needed to eat loads. “That is good. F’cone good?” She wanted to use the word behaving but thought better in the cavern.

K'yar flushed a bit. “Sorry,” he apologized. He was used to how much the riders had to eat. The brown rider chuckled. “He's doing okay. We're all getting used to the new riders in our wing.” So far F'cone had been behaving himself.

She grinned at him and shook her head. She did not need fattening up. “Good.” As long as they wingleader behaved it meant that K’yar’s life was easygoing and slightly less about babysitting F’cone and more about the wing. She indicated a spot near the entrance that was free where they could sit. ”And you little girl need to sit on your chair and eat your meat rolls.” The woman instructed knowing she would be quite happy to sit on V’lik.

“It has been peaceful,” he assured her. He wasn't sure why but F'cone seemed at least semi-happy. He nodded and led the way over to the table.

V'lik started to open his mouth but then stopped. “Your mama's right, kiddo,” he said, sitting Kiyna in her own seat.

Well, that was something, F’cone was either super calm or super causing chaos in her opinion but she could not judge after all the things she had done over the Turns. Lenya saw the older man start to open his mouth to argue but smiled when she saw him slam it shut defaulting to her. She mouthed thank you as she popped the little girl next to him and she happily grabbed the offered meat roll off her mother's plate seeing she had 3. “But next to you is okay.” Kiyna decided was nearly good enough even if her parents were on the other side of the table.

K'yar shrugged a shoulder. He didn't know why F'cone was in a good mood and he wasn’t asking for fear it would set him off.

V'lik smiled at his niece as Lenya put her in the chair. “Just as good,” he agreed.

“Just as good is sometimes better than perfect,” Lenya commented lightly picking up her own roll and started to eat slowly. She was eating more but she still knew she would not be able to eat what was on the plate even with Kiyna’s help.

V'lik glanced over at her as K'yar grinned. “Are you saying I'm not perfect?” He teased his mate. The brown rider knew he wasn't perfect but it was fun to tease.

“If the shoe fits dear…” She commented smiling at him and glanced at V’lik and winked. The man was far from perfect but thankfully he was hers and she loved him for it.

V'lik rolled his eyes. “I can vouch for the fact he's not perfect.”

“Hey!” K'yar laughed, taking a bite of his meat roll.

“Not at all but I do love him. I’ll keep him.” Lenya said, smiling still at him. It was all good natured thankfully, it made up for when that type of comment would have caused resentment and anger.

“And me.” Kiyna declared.

“Oh no little one. You are perfect.” The woman declared back to the little girl.

“Now that is true,” K'yar agreed and V'lik smiled. It felt good to be laughing and teasing each other again.
