Jena smiled as she returned from the bathroom and saw K’vin was dancing with a harper who had grabbed him as he had been abandoned by her and her bladder. She shook her head and disappeared off to grab some wine for them more, she knew once he finished dancing he would find her again or she would eventually find him. Her dress was a soft shade of red and tight enough that she was feeling it after several long candlemarks wearing it now but she knew she had to be a diplomat so had to look the part.
K'vin finished his dance and thanked the harper. it had been fun but not as fun as having Jena in his arms. He had lost track of her when she had first disappeared but soon spotted her and wove through the crowd, straightening his crisp white shirt as he walked. “Hello beautiful,” he smiled.
Jena turned at the voice as the harpers took a break and voices could be heard. She smiled at the man grinning at just how perfect he looked. The Weyrwoman 2nd was still not sure how she had gotten that lucky to have the bronze rider in her life. She had expected her life to be fleeting encounters and flights. “Hello yourself.” She greeted back holding out a glass of wine to him.
The bronze rider took a seat beside accepting the wine. “Thank you,” he commented, taking a drink. “I forgot how exhausting dancing can be.” It wasn't something he did often.
Jena grinned as the harper watched him for a moment before she rolled her eyes and walked away. “That is because we both prefer a different kind of dancing.” She teased him as she adjusted his knots along his shoulder before putting her hands in her lap.
K'vin actually laughed at her words. “you just might be right,” he grinned at her. He wasn't ashamed to admit it. “Thank you. I never seem to be able to keep those straight,” he admitted.
“Oh I know I am right.” She chuckled at the way he grinned at her. “We normally just have them on our jackets and forget about them. Here we cannot hide, especially in that striking white shirt.” She assured looking at the white shirt. It looked great on him with his tan.
He rolled his eyes with a chuckle. “That's true.” They all did forget about their knots quite frequently. He smiled softly at her. “I had to look nice to be able to be seen with my beautiful mate.”
“You look perfect. Harpers certainly seem to enjoy your company.” The queen rider commented grinning. She was not one bit jealous of the attention he gave to other women because she was very self assured in being a rider and being his mate. Who could not be when she had Zalyith? She had been chosen by a queen dragon above all others?
K'vin glanced over his shoulder. He really didn’t pay attention to other women. Jena was the only was one for him. “Do they?” He asked, really not realizing it. He really could be oblivious at times.
Jena snorted at the older man and shook her head at his obliviousness. It was what made her love him even more if possible. “Mmmhmm.” She teased as the harper who had been dancing with him waved.
K'vin returned the harper’s wave, a smile still on his face. “Hmm guess I didn't notice,” he answered. It wasn't unusual for him to not notice.
The gold rider laughed and shook her head. “That's okay. Don’t want your ego to explode. A queen rider and all those harpers are enough to turn your head.” She nudged laughing still as she put her braid over her shoulder.
K'vin grinned at his mate. “I definitely don't want a big ego,” he agreed. He was glad he had Jena in his life.
“So what are we doing? Dancing? Going for a walk? Help me work out where the Weyrwoman is?” She wondered if she needed to make another circuit of the room and be diplomatic again or if she had time to steal a moment with the bronze rider.
“I just saw Lana and A'ren in the corner,” he answered. A grin touched his lips. “Shall we dance?” he offered, standing up and offering her a hand.
“Well then in a corner is worked out and I do not need to figure that out.” She said smiling as he rose and offered her his hand. She was surprised by the invitation but eagerly took it. “Lead the way handsome.” She approved as she saw I’han twirling Tanly around grinning.
“Of course,” he smiled, pulling her onto the dance floor. He didn't dance often but this was a special occasion and Jena deserved to show off her gorgeous dress. He sent her into a spin before pulling her back into his arms.
Jena bit her lip hard to avoid letting out a squeal as she was pushed away then pulled back to her. She was so surprised she nearly forgot the next step in the dance but K’vin led her perfectly. She shook her head laughing at him still. “You are far to perfect.” She assured him grinning.
K'vin chuckled as he wrapped her back in his arms. “I am far from perfect,” he told her. “But thank you.” He was having fun and it seemed like Jena was as well.
“No bronze rider. You are perfect from your the top of your head to the bottom of your boots that you leave in doorways.” She laughed as his hand stayed on her waist. If this was the Weyr it would have been a lot less formal but he was being the perfect bronze rider trying to be diplomatic especially as this ball was celebrating them.
He just shook his head. He definitely wasn't perfect but he liked how it sounded coming Jena. “And you are beautiful and kind and i love you,” he said, kissing her forehead so it was a bit more appropriate for where they were.
“Lots of big declarations from you recently.” She teased, knowing after nearly four turns together, nothing he did surprised her much, other than the big declarations he made. She was not used to them from him, as when he said them they were heartfelt.
“Perhaps but they are all true,” he assured her. Jena was the best thing that ever happened to him and he wanted her to know that. She kept him sane.
Jena squeezed his hand as the music finally stopped and they were left in their space, just looking at each other. “You do not need to declare. I know.” She finally answered, seeing his affection for her written all over his eyes.
He nodded a bit. “Shall we take a walk?” He suggested. He definitely wasn't ready for the night to end.
Jena nodded. That sounded good, they had come in through the gardens but had not had time to experience them really before they had been pulled into the wedding. “I should like that wingrider.” She said formally as a holder passed them.
K'vin held his arm out to her. A slight smile touched his lips. It felt odd to be so formal, but he had seen the holder too and understood why she had done that. “Good. It is a beautiful evening for a walk.”
