Jemm smirked as Emalee potted around the kitchen, cleaning up the evening meal as Leisa put the children to bed. Normally, she would have left by then to annoy someone else, but that evening, she wanted to talk to them both and get their help in getting her away from Far Site Hold and to one of the Weyrs. Holder life was not for her and in the last several sevendays, she had realised that more and more, she was going to cause herself mischief or worse get Emalee and Leisa dragged into trouble, which for all her attitude she was thankful for them.

Leisa smiled as he finished tucking the children in. His life had changed a lot over the Turns and this time for the better. He was still in a pretty decent mood as he walked back out to check on his wife and her sister. He still wasn't sure about Jemm and her intentions.

“Are they all asleep?” Emalee wondered as she saw the man sneak back down the stairs and appear in the small living area. She knew their baby would not stay asleep all night but it was nice for Almee to give them a little time together.

Leisa nodded. “For now,” he answered, walking over to Emalee. He knew they would be up again but at least for the moment they were asleep. “Do you need a hand?”

“Not in the slightest.” Emalee assured turning to look at him. Everything was drying on the side to put away later on and the sides were clean.

“Em might not but I do need a hand… well help… I want to leave Far Site Hold.” Jemm commented.

Leisa turned, not having realized Jemm was there. “You want to leave Far Site?” He repeated, considering her words. “Anywhere you want to go?” He hoped this wasn't just some trick.

Jemm smirked as the man turned and looked at her, surprised. “Not exactly fitting in here. The Weyr… any Weyr. Much more me don’t you think Le?” She wondered, knowing he wanted rid of her.

He narrowed his eyes a bit. Jemm really did irritate him but he was trying for Emalee's sake. Leisa slowly nodded. “Okay. Think we can do that.” He didn't really know which one to send her to though.

“Maybe you just need a little more time to adjust?” Emalee attempted to say and quickly looked back to the sink when her sister rolled her eyes.

“Emalee, you know it is not me. You are being simple if you think I will ever fit in here. I am not you, I cannot do all of this…” Jemm said, indicating around. “I am not nice.”

Leisa wanted to agree, but he didn't want to start any kind of arguments. “And you think you'd do better at a Weyr?” He asked, knowing some of them did. He was just curious on her thoughts.

“Yes.” She said simply. “We both know I am never going to make a holder after Dragon hold, so I might as well try to become someone, and I think the Weyr is most likely the only place I can achieve that. You don’t want me here…” She pointed out quietly.

“I know the Weyr has been good for a few others,” he agreed. The ones he didn't think would ever change were leading great lives. He sighed softly as he glanced at Emalee. “I just know you're not happy here either.”

“Because these people are not people I will ever have anything in common with. You guys have built lives here and that is not something I can see for myself here. I do not want to be like you…” Jemm said, trying not to upset Emalee, but she could see the tinge of hurt just a little, which might be for the best to allow the woman to let her go with the minimal amount of fuss.

“Well I guess your mind is all set on it then.” Emalee commented.

Leisa slowly nodded. “Alright then. I can talk to a few people and see about getting you into the Weyr,” he said. It was probably for the best.

“Okay, well, I am going to have an early night as this is all decided.” Emalee declared putting down the cloth she had been holding and nervously picking at.

“Em…” Jemm said gently as the woman shook her head and left the room. “Who do you think she is crosser at right now? Me or you?” Jemm wondered, wishing she did not have to hurt her sister to make it all possible.

Leisa watched his wife disappear. That didn't bode well for him later on. He shook his head. “Not sure honestly. Although I will hear about it later.” He turned back to Jemm. “And you are sure about this?”

“Rather you than me.” She said gathering up her stuff to make her own exit. She did not want to stay there without Emalee being awake, it just meant they’d just start snarking at each other. “Yes. You hate me being here and I will only get more annoying the more I am forced to act like I want to be all pleasant and …” She indicated around them all.

He couldn't argue there. He did hate her being there as she kept causing problems. “Fine I will help you get to River Cove,” he assured her. Emalee would be mad but he couldn't help that.

“Thank you.” She said politely before grinning at the thought of River Cove if she could get there. “For the best. Em might be cross right now, but we both know it’s for the best. You get away with being from Dragon Hold because you are a man, and Emalee was always sweet and kind.”

Leisa shrugged a shoulder, not really sure if that was true. Well, the part about Emalee being sweet and kind was. “Alright then. Do you want to leave this evening or in the morning? I can get one of the firelizards to take a message.”

“Morning will do. I can behave for one night.” She promised, rolling her eyes. “Who are you going to talk to?” She demanded, finally wondering just who he knew that would help her.

Leisa nodded. Morning would be easier but he had wanted to leave it up to him. “My sister and her brown rider are there,” he answered.

Jemm raised an eyebrow. “You have a sister?” She asked, looking confused. She had not having known that, but now it intrigued her and explained how they were able to get back to Far Site so easily.

Leisa nodded. It had been a shock to him too as he hadn't seen Lenya in Turns. He wasn't about to explain all that though. “They helped Em and I a lot when getting people out of Dragon Hold.”

The woman smiled a little at the way he shortened her sister's name and said it with such affection. “Who is she?” Jemm wondered interested in who this woman could be. Surely she would have to be from Dragon Hold.

He narrowed his eyes a bit. He was hesitant to answer but if Jemm was going to River Cove she would find out soon enough. “Lenya,” Leisa finally answered.

The woman paled as she processed the name of this man’s sister. “I am sorry for what she went through.” She said finally. All her bravado gone as she remembered the woman and the fact she was used as a warning to everyone.

Leisa nodded a bit. “She is doing better now.” He knew she was strong, but how she had survived that he would never know. Actually both her and K'yar should be dead.

“She won’t have my venom.” They had never known each other well, but the woman deserved her respect for surviving so much more than she could have ever done. She had spent more of her time using her wiles to secure herself with soldiers to avoid getting into more trouble.

“Thank you. I wouldn't push her lover either. He's very protective of her.” He sighed softly. He had no idea why Lenya had been picked as an example.

“I am sure a rider can cope but I will try my best.” She said gently. “So I’ll see you both in the morning.” She murmured thinking she needed to pack up her stuff and say some goodbye to a few people she had made friends with.

Leisa nodded. He didn't know if Jemm would keep her word, but he knew Lenya was safe with K'yar. “We'll see you then,” he agreed, wondering if Emalee was still talking to him.

Jemm quickly let herself out of the small cottage and smirked to herself as the dork was locked behind her. She was going to have such a better time at the Weyr than at Far Site Hold. She was sure she could make it all work now that she had a start.
