Halia woke up and looked around. She had been sound asleep on the sofa but here she was tucked up in bed. She could hear S’lie humming away in the bathing chamber and smiled a little staggering up wrapping a robe around herself feeling chilly. “You put me to bed like a child. Thank you.” She greeted hoping that Tanly had left before he had gotten there but she was sure that the rider hadn’t.
S'lei had been grateful for his sister staying with Halia while he had finished up with his duties. When he did get back to the weyr he couldn't help but smile as he saw Halia sound asleep, but he was sure she wasn't comfortable so he had carefully moved her to bed and then went to clean up himself.
He turned at her soft voice. “I did. I wanted to make sure you were comfortable.”
“Thank you.” She repeated with a small smile as she watched him. “You are as gorgeous inside as you are outside.” She assured him as she crossed to the mirror and set about brushing her teeth feeling like she could do so without throwing up now thanks to the herbs she had half asleep take before going back to sleep.
S'lei grinned at her. “Why thank you, love. I try my best.” He watched her a bit, glad she didn't look as pale. “You look a bit better. How are you feeling?” Tanly hadn't really said anything as they passed in the door way.
“Very pregnant.” She admitted as she spat out the cleaning paste and washed her mouth out. She turned to look at him and shrugged a little. “Journeyman Nikolai confirmed it and gave me something to stop the sickness this morning.” She admitted not knowing what had been said or not.
The brown rider froze, a smile spreading across his face. “You are?” He asked, trying not to be too excited. “That is great Hal.” He stopped for a minute. “Isn't it?” He wasn't sure of her feelings yet.
The woman smiled a little as she saw his excitement and smile spreading across his face and the way he froze as he considered her reactions and what she needed. “I do not know. I am still pretty wrought from this mornings throwing up and having your sister call for help.”
He nodded a bit. “I understand. It is a lot to take in. I'm glad Tan was able to stop by though.” He had hated leaving but he hadn't had much of a choice. “Give me a minute to finish and I'll be out.”
“It is okay. Take your time. I want to clean up too.” She assured smiling at him as she went back out to the bedroom and sat on the bed. She was relieved that it was all out in the open now and they could work out if it was something that they wanted or not.
S'lei nodded. “Alright,” he smiled, watching her go. He wanted to be excited for this new adventure in their lives but he still didn't know how she felt about things.
Halia slowly set about getting out of the clothes she wore to bed and pulled on a long dress that covered her and made her feel less vulnerable. She wandered out to the living area and leaned against the wall to watch the dragon. “What do you think Redeirith?” She asked the dragon before laughing at herself. The brown had never spoken to her before.
Redeirith yawned a bit as he looked over at Halia. He crooned softly at her and stretched his neck out to say hello.
S'lei finished getting cleaned up and then got out to get dressed. He felt better after getting cleaned up. But he was a bit nervous about the talk with Halia they would have to have.
Halia was surprised that the dragon was acknowledging her and smiled at the brown and lent out to scratch his eyeridge. “Hello Rederirith. What do I owe this too?” The woman wondered not hearing the man come out.
The brown crooned again softly. “You found his favorite spot,” S'lei commented, smiling at his mate and dragon. He was glad Redeirith was being friendly.
The blonde was surprised by the brown but it was nice to not be ignored completely by him now. “Just surprised as he normally just ignores me.” She laughed softly as she turned properly to look at the man. “Feel better?” She wondered quietly.
S'lei shook his head. “Sorry about that. He can be like that with me sometimes too,” he chuckled. It just depended on the brown's mood. “I do. Much cleaner,” he chuckled. “How bout you?”
“No need to. It’s a privilege to have a dragon acknowledge you.” She stepped over to him properly and pressed against him looping her arms around his neck. “Better now journeyman Nikolai has made me stop throwing up.” It had been draining that morning but it made sense thinking on other options.
Redeirith grumbled a bit at the pair before turning to curl up again. S'lei gently wrapped his arms around her waist. “I am glad you are feeling better.”
“Me too.” Morning sickness was not something she had enjoyed at all that morning when it had left her so weak and exhausted. She glanced back at the dragon and smiled a little at his grumbling but felt extremely honoured.
He kissed her hair. “I'm glad Nikolai was able to help. Is that a common thing that lasts long?” S'lei didn't really know anything about morning sickness. And he didn't want her to have to suffer that every morning.
“Not a clue but possibly your sister said she had experienced it.” She admitted looking up at him. “He gave me stuff as it left me lying on the floor still wanting to be sick despite nothing left in me.” She admitted before she shrugged a little. She was not really sure but she also did not want him to do this. “Are … are you happy with this?” She wondered quietly. “This won’t be like before or like your sister. I’m not a rider.” She quietly reminded him as if she needed to do that.
S'lei frowned a bit. “Ooh hadn't thought of that. Might have to ask her more.” He hadn't even thought about the fact his sister had been through this. He nodded as a smile touched his lip. “I am, but I want you to be happy,” he said softly. “Very true. I must admit I had never thought about being able to raise my child,” he admitted.
“I am happy. I am just nervous that we will change or that … There are so many worries. I never thought I would do this between us let alone anything else.” The woman admitted.
The brown rider nodded slightly. “I know what you mean. There is a lot to think about but no it won't change us. We'll get through it and be happy still,” he assured.
“So I think we have a little time.” She said, stroking his cheek gently as she stared up at him. She loved this man and did not want to change their lives and make him unhappy.
He gave her a gentle smile as she stroked his cheek. “I love you, Hal, so whatever makes you happy makes me happy.” That was all he wanted. To make her happy.
“So we think and we go from there.” The woman said softly, smiling at the way he looked at her. She would never have gotten that from the holder who her parents wanted her to marry for her own safety. Having babies would never have been her choice, it would have been decided for her and no choice about it.
He smiled at her. “That sounds good to me,” he agreed. S'lei wanted to make this work. He had never met anyone like Halia and he didn't want to ever lose her.
“Okay then.” She smiled stepping back thinking that it had to be late enough in the morning that she should look at trying to gather herself for her afternoon classes and look at her evening set.
