Bensen held a finger to his lips as he walked with Brenna into the bedroom. He held the tray in his hands but left the waking up to Brenna. He had no doubt the little girl would enjoy waking her mother up.
Brenna giggled as she snuck up to where her mum was still sound asleep and jumped up onto the big bed waking Cadence who was asleep on Bensen’s pillows with a start. “Mama.” Brenna squealed before the green lizard could chirp and help. Rena woke with a smile as the small girl launched herself at her. The woman wrapped her arms around the little girl sitting up awkwardly. “Hello.” She whispered sleepily.
Bensen tried not to laugh as he did feel bad too. Although Rena's sle3epy smile made him smile more. “Morning beautiful,” he commented, sitting on the edge of the bed to keep the tray out of danger.
Rena blushed as she peppered the girl in kisses and then looked at the man. “So what did I do to deserve all of this?” She demanded as Cadence chirped confused and disappeared between appearing above Osena’s crib and settled to curling underneath as it seemed safer.
“Do we have to have a reason to pamper the love of our lives?” he grinned, feeling bad for upsetting the little green. He hadn't thought about that. Although he could see their surprise had worked.
Rena blushed even more at that phrase from him. They really did need to have a peppery conversation about feelings but she nodded feeling a little teary over him declaring that. “No but this is lovely. Thank you.” She whispered trying to not let the emotions come out as she snuggled Brenna closer so the man could come and join her again
Bensen sat the tray on the nightstand so it wasn't knocked off. He could see the emotions swirling in her eyes and he felt bad for nearly bringing her to tears. “you're welcome,” he answered, sliding back up on the bed beside his little family.
Rena smiled as he came to join her and she shifted a little cuddle against him. “You both need to stop getting up early.” She teased the pair.
Bensen laughed as he put an arm around Rena's shoulders. “Hazards of being related to the Lord Holder,” he chuckled. He barely had time to sleep in with everything that needed done.
“Not entirely sure if that is a thing. But I can see I need to change my sleep pattern. And what is your excuse, hmm little one?” She wondered looking at Brenna who just giggled as if to say I just woke up.
Bensen just grinned. He had always been an early riser. “Nah that just means we get to surprise you like this,” he answered, chuckling as Brenna just giggled in response to her mother.
“Do not believe my heart could cope. But I will get back to being an early riser once I am fully recovered.” She promised. “Now someone pass me that klah before the baby wakes up and needs feeding too.” She declared happily laying her head against Bensen’s shoulder for a moment.
“You take as long as you need,” Bensen told her. He didn't want her rushing anything. He laughed and carefully reached back to grab the klah. “Well we definitely don't want that happening.”
Rena did not think she could rush things even if she wanted to. “Thank you Ben.” She whispered, taking the mug as Brenna moved to lean over to look at the baby sound asleep still
“You're very welcome.” He pulled the tray down with him, having collected breakfast for all of them. “Hungry Bre?” He asked, picking up his own mug of klah. This was certainly nice.
The little girl agreed by grabbing up a piece of fruit with a nod to prove her point. “Slowly sweetheart.” Rena said smiling as she tucked the little girl's curls behind her ear before it got caught up in juice. Brenna grinned as she stayed where she was which allowed Rena to lean back against the headboard and just wake up a little better.
Bensen chuckled. He loved watching the little girl. She was so full of life and always so happy. “Feeling okay this morning?” He asked Rena as he sipped on his klah.
“I won’t be riding a runner any time soon but I do feel better.” She promised knowing she still was bleeding a little and feeling exhausted but she was truly feeling better than yesterday. She just wished she had a little more energy.
Bensen shook his head. “No, I'm thinking the runners are out for a while,” he smiled. “But I am glad you're feeling better.” She did look better. He just hoped she continued to take it slow.
Rena stared back at the man and smiled. “You have both taken good care of me so of course I am feeling so much better.” Rena reminded as she picked up a slice of toast and nibbled on it.
“Bre has been a big help,” Bensen smiled. The little girl was a great help and they both wanted Rena back on her feet. He hated seeing her still looking pale from time to time.
“You have Bre.” Rena smiled at the little girl as she looked at the pair proud of herself. She loved helping her uncle and mum.
“I help mama so she can help me.” Brenna declared taking another piece of fruit from the pile. The little girl loved her fruit.
“And it sounds like you have been doing a wonderful job,” Bensen smiled. Shards he loved the little girl and her mother. He missed Oseben terribly but he also loved his family so it was hard sometimes.
“But soon I will be back to feeding you breakfast and we can go back to our proper walks.” Rena promised the little girl smiling. She hated how she always felt so tired when Brenna finished her harper lessons so could not do much before dinner and bed. “I have a healer appointment tomorrow so I am sure they can help me get some energy for our evenings.”
Bensen felt bad. He knew the two loved their evening walks. “Well until then she is more than welcome to help me with evening feed with the runners,” he offered. He wouldn't mind having the little girl’s company.
“Can I?” Brenna begged. Rena looked at the pair shaking her head like she could deny either of them.
“Only if you promise me that when you come home you have to tell me all about it. And make sure you listen to Bensen.” She said leaning forward to rub her nose against the girls who laughed wildly.
He laughed a bit. “I'll keep an eye on her,” he promised. He would make sure they only fed the calm runners like Star and Hope. they would be keeping their distance from Thunder.
“I know you will.” Rena touched his hand smiling for a moment before Osena let out a small cry as she woke up and could hear her family. Rena laughed as she finished the piece of toast and quietly stood up to sort the baby out.
Bensen smiled at her gentle touch before he heard Osena. “Well guess she has good timing,” he chuckled. At least Rena had gotten to eat.
Once she had changed the soiled cloths and popped the baby in some fresh clothes she came back to bed holding the baby close. “Someone is a little happier now.” She explained as Brenna came over to say good morning to her sister.
“That's good to hear,” he chuckled as Rena sat back down. “Hey baby girl,” he crooned at his daughter, smiling as Brenna crawled over.
Osena looked at everyone before she promptly screwed up her face and screamed. “Or not.” Rena said, rolling her eyes. “Come on then little one let’s go find you a bottle.” She sighed wishing she could breastfeed as it would be so much easier.
Bensen laughed a bit. “Wish we could get away with that when we're hungry,” he smiled. “I'll grab it. You stay with the girls.” Bensen was off the bed before she argue and headed off to get Osena her bottle.
Rena smiled as she watched the man leave. Brenna giggled as she watched her mama. “He makes you happy again.” She declared stunning the woman as her 3 turn old saw what was going on. Rena nodded.
“He does. Is that okay?” Rena wondered quietly as she rocked Osena.
“I want mama happy. Daddy would be okay with it too.” She added sadly before she climbed over and cuddled close.
Bensen hadn't heard anything the two had said as he had been too far away collecting the bottle. A smile warmed his face though when he returned and saw his three girls cuddling together. “A man could certainly get used to this view,” he smiled at them, handing Rena the bottle.
“Better get used to it Ben. All yours.” Rena said gently as she shifted Osena a little to get her into a better position but the baby quickly started sucking on the bottle. “Thank you.” She whispered as Brenna snuggled against Bensen as he returned to give her mama and sister a little more space.
He smiled. “I love it,” he assured her, returning to the bed. Bensen wrapped his arm around Brenna. “Hey sweetheart,” he smiled, kissing Brenna’s hair. He was happy his little family was healthy.
The little girl smiled up at him as she grabbed a piece of toast and started on that. She wanted every morning to be like that one.
