R’kig quietly crept down to the infirmary, wanting to check on his brother. It had killed him to stay away the previous day but the healers needed to concentrate on K'ron's injury.

He peeked around the corner, sighing softly when he heard his brother mumbling and he still looked pale. R'kig hated this.

Nerlyn looked up from where she was watching over K’ron as she thought it was Nikolai coming to kick her out or Terliyn offering some klah. She offered a teary smile to the blue rider. “Hello R’kig.” She breathed.

He managed a smile for Nerlyn. “Hey Nerlyn. How is he?” The blue rider asked, stepping over to take a seat. K'ron looked awful on his opinion but maybe Nerlyn had heard something.

“Talking nonsense and feverish.” She whispered. She let go of her mate's hand for a moment to give R’kig her attention. “Are you okay?” She wondered hoping he was okay as she thought he would have come last night but maybe he had when she had been sedated.

The blue rider sighed softly. That's what he had been afraid of. He nodded. “Yeah. Well as okay as can be expected with my brother like this.” K'ron mumbled incoherently as if in response to the voices.

“He’ll be okay.” Nerlyn whispered softly. “He has to be okay.” Nerlyn was sure nothing would keep the man down. He just needed to fight the fever from going to between.

He sighed before nodding. “You’re right. He's too stubborn to quit. It's just hard seeing him like this.” He looked over at Nerlyn. “Are you okay?”

“I have been better.” Nerlyn commented, turning her gaze from the man to look at K’ron. He was pale and feverish but he was not a quitter at all.

K'ron mumbled again as he shifted, groaning in pain. R'kig cringed as he watched his brother. “I'm sure, but I know he'll never leave you and Raen.”

Nerlyn nodded as she grabbed up a flannel from the bucket and rang it out to wipe K’ron’s face. “Shh it is okay.” Nerlyn soothed as she nodded at R’kig’s words. She knew that but she also knew he would never leave them willingly.

K'ron slowly settled back down, sweat still clinging to his body despite the shivering. R'kig winced. He hated seeing his brother like that. “Do you need anything, Nerlyn?” He asked gently.

Did she need anything other than K’ron waking up? Not at all. “No… no I do not need anything.” She assured quietly as she lay her hand on K’ron’s bare chest.

The bronze rider seemed to settle slightly at the familiar touch as he mumbled again. R'kig nodded, completely understanding. He had to ask though. “He'll come back,” R'kig said, squeezing her shoulder in hopeful comfort.

The woman nodded. “But what if he doesn’t?” Nerlyn wondered, her voice trembling at the thought of it. She wanted him to wake up so she could reassure herself. This was all her fault. “This is all my fault.”

R'kig leaned over and squeezed her shoulder. “You can’t think that way. He'll be okay.” R'kig was confused by her words. “Why was it your fault?”

Nerlyn sighed. “He was in the north because of something I did that I cannot discuss.” She wished she could but R’kig more than anyone else she knew did not need to know that Dragons could time. It would do him no good even if Kalaith banned the usage of it.

The blue rider frowned a bit, being totally confused by those words. “Umm, okay,” he said softly. “I won't push, but I can assure you this was not your fault. You didn't make that other rider attack K'ron.”

“No but if he had not been there because of my actions none of it would have happened.” She sighed, touching his hand on her shoulder. She could see the confusion written all over his face. ”I am okay. I just feel sick to my stomach over it all.”

That still didn't make sense to him, but he would keep quiet about it for now. If Nerlyn wanted to talk she would. “I’m sure. And I am also sure that he doesn't blame you.” He knew K'ron would never blame Nerlyn.

Nerlyn nodded. She knew that. It was one of the reasons why he was far too good for her. “I know he won’t.” Nerlyn assured quietly looking at her hands on his chest feeling his heart beating under her skin.

“Ner,” K'ron mumbled, sighing softly. R'kig shook his head. He didn't know why Nerlyn always seemed to act like she didn't deserve K'ron. He knew his brother loved the woman.

“Shh. I am here Bronze Rider.” She soothed leaning over to stroke his hair away from his face. “You are home and safe.” She added quietly wishing she could do more to sooth him.

K'ron settled back down, his body relaxing a bit. R'kig sighed softly. He hated seeing his brother like this. It was even worse knowing they really couldn’t do anything to help him.

Nerlyn took a few moments of caressing the man’s face before she sat back. “Do you want some klah or something?” She wondered standing up rubbing her bump trying to get the baby to stop kicking her bladder.

“I can get it,” R'kig offered. He didn't want her over doing it or having to leave K'ron's side. He was worried about both of them.

“If you do not mind.” Nerlyn said taking several deep breaths as she paced a little back and forth. “The baby has taken to bouncing on my bladder.” She admitted knowing this was the first sevenday where she was really feeling the baby.

R'kig cringed. “That doesn't sound pleasant, but I'll be right back.” He got to his feet to go find some klah for the both of them.

Nerlyn watched the man walk away and smiled. It was not pleasant but the woman would not change anything about her pregnancy. It was just not the time she wanted her bladder to be kicked.
