Mission:
3531 AL
Location: River Cove Weyr
Timeline: MD 2 D24
Nerlyn jogged across the Weyrbowl half half-dressed in her Wet Suits with it wrapped around her waist and a light shirt. She had forgotten all about the appointment it was only when she had returned to Dolphin Hall from teaching the Weyr brats about water safety had she remembered when Koda appeared chittering and showing her K’ron confused and waiting. She sped up as she got to the lower cavern entrance and managed to avoid 2 brown riders by pure chance.
“Where’s the thread Ner?” One of them asked and Nerlyn turned.
“I am on a promise H’eta.” She called back making the man roll his eyes as she skidded to a stop outside of the infirmary and could hear K’ron talking inside already to someone. She bowed her head and took a deep breath. “Sorry.”
K'ron of course had been early for their meeting. It was just in his nature but when she was later then normal he finally sent Koda to find her. He knew Nerlyn had a lot going but this was important.
He turned when she came in. “You're here. That's what matters.”
“I lost track of … everything. I was doing water safety with weyrbrats.” She shrugged and reached up to kiss his cheek before looking at Nikolai narrowing her eyes as the journeyman just grinned at her. “What have you two been talking about hmm?” She wondered looking between the pair.
The bronze rider shook his head. “That is a lot to think about,” he agreed. Koda reappeared and landed on Nerlyn’s shoulder, chittering at her for being late. K'ron bit back a chuckle as he glanced at Nikolai. “If you would have been here on time you would know,” he teased, feeling like himself again.
Nerlyn shook her head and glanced at Koda rolling her eyes. “Don’t you join in this men ganging up on me group.” She whispered pressing a kiss to her finger and then placing it onto the little flit. “I jogged from dolphin hall and look at me.” She indicated the miss match of her clothes and the fact she still had her equipment on her belt. She normally kept her lives there and at the weyr separate changing before she came back.
“Okay before you 2 have a domestic. Not that I would not enjoy watching Nerlyn tame you shall we step into the office?” Nikolai wondered grinning wildly as the pair sounded just like they had when they had both been riders.
Koda cheered again and snuggled against Nerlyn’s neck and shoulder. The little brown was quite content.
K'ron laughed. “I see that.” He raised a brow at his friend. “Really? You don't think I can hold my own?” He asked before nodding. “Yes let's.”
“Not where she is concerned no,” Nikolai said leading the way. “Nerlyn would fight dirty.” He added opening the door and letting them both in. Nerlyn looked around silently. It had been a long time since she had been in the infirmary for change and things looked a little more organised which was nice to see. “Sit down.”
“I am a little wet,” Nerlyn admitted with a blush.
“Sit on the cot then.” Nikolai laughed not at all bothered.
K'ron considered Nikolai's words. “You are probably right,” he laughed. He stepped into the infirmary and looked around. It was nice to be here and not be injured. K'ron took a seat, letting Nerlyn decide where she wanted to sit.
Nerlyn sat on the cot and looked at Nikolai. “So we came to get me checked over because like I said to you at my duty watch medical I am pregnant,” Nerlyn explained making the man smile.
“Finally admitting it properly huh?” The healer said happily. “And how are we both feeling?” He wondered looking between the pair trying to gauge them both.
The bronze rider was all grins. He couldn't be more excited but was worried as well. He had no doubt that Raen would enjoy a sibling. “Think it's finally sinking in,” he answered.
Nikolai knew that feeling well as it had took awhile to sink in with Marika’s pregnancies. But it had never been quite as intense as Nerlyn’s labor with Raen. “And yourself?” He wondered looking to the dolphineer.
“Nervous.” She admitted. “Last time I was not in a good place and well lots have happened in last four turns.”
Koda cheaped encouragement and nuzzled Nerlyn’s cheek in comfort.
K'ron nodded. Things had been bad at that time. He hoped this time they were both in a better place.
“But you are now.” Nikolai said not phrasing it as a question more as a fact as he knew it to be a fact. He held up a file with Nerlyn’s on. “You're healthy, you have not ended up here other than when you got the decompression sickness last summer from that salvage operation. I do not see any issues right now unless there is more Something I am not seeing?” Nikolai wondered looking between the pair.
K'ron had to agree. This time was much better and he didn't feel as nervous as he had with Raen. Ooh that decompression sick had been awful to watch. “Is there anything we should be extra careful of?”
“Stress. Not being too sick, fever, cramping.” Nikolai listed off the usual symptoms that he thought they would be looking for. “No diving more than 60 ft.” He said pointedly knowing her craft and what she was like. “No going between until you are four months.” He glanced at the man with the Bronze dragon. “Eating healthily. Drinking as little sea water as possible.” He teased just a little. “Lie down let’s see if I can figure out how far along you are but as the dolphins saw it I would say at least six.”
K'ron listened closely, wanting to make sure they did everything right. He wanted Nerlyn to have a smooth pregnancy this time around. He tried not to laugh. “Okay no salt water,” he grinned at his mate.
Nerlyn rolled her eyes and turned around lying back on the cot as the healer moved quickly washing hands before coming over pressing on her stomach carefully. “Definitely pregnant.” He laughed as if there had been any doubt. “I would say you are about 10 weeks Nerlyn.” Nerlyn winced as she did some calculations in her head about how many silly things she had done in the first month or so before they had realized. “You’ll need to work out your last moon cycle but I would hedge my bets that you’ll be due around harvest time.”
The bronze rider chuckled, knowing Nerlyn wasn't thrilled. He bit back a remark as to being pregnant. “That will be an interesting harvest time,” he smiled.
“I can already see the conversation when I try to help with the harvest.” Nerlyn said with a wink glancing over at K’ron.
“Me too. But apart from nerves, how are you feeling?” Nikolai asked standing back up sitting in his chair writing a few things down in Nerlyn’s file.
Nerlyn knew this part of the conversation was going to happen and she supposed K’ron and Nikolai had discussed it already when she had been running late. “I think I am okay. Up and down but mostly up. K’ron?” She asked sitting up.
K'ron rolled his eyes. “Yeah so not happening,” he answered. He knew she was only teasing him.
The bronze rider nodded. “Definitely more ups,” he agreed. The biggest down had been regarding her timing it as a weyrling.
“And you know if anything starts getting too much to come back and talk to me right?” Nikolai checked quickly. He was trying to be more approachable so people came and spoke to him before he had to track them down and it became a thing. It was easier before people got into crisis to help than after when things had gone wrong. Nerlyn nodded quickly.
“I am safe.” She promised. It was her mantra that she spoke when discussing it. Reaffirming to herself and everyone that was in a good place.
“Thanks Nikolai,” K'ron answered. He would keep an eye on Nerlyn and he would come down himself if he had to. “Yes love, you are safe.” Koda cheeped his agreement.
“So everyone can relax. I am okay.” She said firmly looking at both men. Nikolai offered a salute and a smile.
“Okay then come back tomorrow morning for prenatal herbs.” He advised sharing a look with K’ron for a moment before he stood to guide them out.
Koda moved to snuggle back around Nerlyn's neck and shoulder. K'ron grinned at Nikolai. Maybe for once things would go smoothly. “And we’ll make sure you staystay that way.”
Nerlyn grinned at the fire lizard and shook her head. Moving her collar up over him so he would be safe. Nikolai smiled at the pair, the relief evident on everyone’s faces that things were going smooth. “Without a doubt.” Nikolai assured as Nerlyn stepped out into the main infirmary nodding. She would be back her duties to grab them. “I’ll get this sent to Master Jameas too.”
“Thanks, Niko.” The woman was thankful to him.
