Zirieh shook her head as K'ron tried to give her a couple of coppers for the egg. She just handed him the basket with the precious firelizard egg nestled safely in the warmth of a blanket. With K'ron, Zirieh knew she didn't have to explain how to care for the baby.

K'ron carefully cradled the basket as he headed back to his weyr. He wasn't sure when Nerlyn would be back, but he couldn't wait to show her. Of course Koda was the first that greeted him and the brown cheeped at the basket in question.

“It's okay, Koda. You are still my favorite.”

“Well at least I know where I stand.” Nerlyn declared, grinning as she rushed in carrying several books, a rebreather and a covered plate. “Oh Tula said this is what you requested. It’s hot. Did you miss lunch?” She wondered putting the plate down as she continued on to the table where her dolphineer studies were.

K'ron turned around quickly as Koda cheeped a greeting. The bronze rider started to explain but grinned when he saw the plate.

“Maybe,” he answered, pushing the basket towards her. “See for yourself.”

Nerlyn looked at the man confused as he pushed a basket towards her. She put her items down, knelt down moving the blanket aside, still confused for a moment before it made perfect sense. “K’ron?” She questioned realising the plate was obviously meat for when the egg hatched.

The bronze rider smiled. “It should hatch any time now,” he said. Koda sat on K'ron's shoulder and studied the egg, still trying to figure it out. “I got it for you,” he explained. “Thought it could be with you and Oceania.”

Nerlyn slowly stood up and burst into tears, emotions coursing through her as hugged K’ron being careful of Koda. They had discussed it turns ago after the first Queen flight when she had stated she had missed that type of connection. “Thank you.” She whispered.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her forehead. “You're welcome.” It had taken him a while to finally find a firelizard egg but he had been thrilled when he had overheard Zirieh talking about Mesha's clutch.

“We had that conversation 2 turns ago.” She whispered wiping at her tears awkwardly. It was not like her to be so easy to emotions like that but she was feeling it this sevenday.

“I know,” he whispered. “It took me that long to finally find a clutch. The little one's dam is Zirieh’s Mesha.” He kissed her hair again, just holding her close. Koda cheeped softly before gliding down to sit next to the egg.

“I… I never…” The older woman was stunned a little for words so simply pressed her lips against his in a hard kiss. The moment was broken by a noise from the egg making the woman turn and knell by the basket as the egg started to crack.

K'ron didn't get a chance to respond as she kissed him. Then the egg started to Crack. Koda instantly started to hum, watching the little occupant trying to break through.

Nerlyn waited patiently holding a small piece of meat in her hand as she waited for the shell to finally break. As it did a little green poked her head out chirping and confused as much to say I’m hungry. Nerlyn understood instantly and held the meat out to the dainty firelizard.

Koda continued to hum in excitement. K'ron kept his distance as he wanted Nerlyn to be the first one the little firelizard saw. He smiled as a little green finally poked her head through the shell.

Instantly the green gobbled up the meat and the next couple that Nerlyn offered until the little green climbed up out of the basket to easier get to the offered meat. She shook her wings out and chirped at Nerlyn who smiled wiping at her tears a little. “Hello, little one.” She whispered holding out her hand to the green who instantly climbed onto it looking for meat.

The bronze rider had to fight back his own tears. He hadn't seen Nerlyn that emotional in a long time. He wished now he could have found a firelizard egg a lot sooner. Koda moved away and flitted up to K'ron's shoulder.

“I am sorry. There is plenty of food for you.” She assured the small green as she shook her wings out again as she took another piece of food and several more before she looked at Nerlyn and promptly curled up on hand. “Well that was certainly… did Koda do that?” She wondered, intrigued by the little green breathing in and out on her hand.

K'ron smiled as he watched Nerlyn and the little green. He chuckled. “Koda ate about twice as much,” he answered. “And yes he fell asleep just like that.” He was so glad to see her happy. Koda shook his wings out and grumbled at K'ron.

Nerlyn smiled still teary as she settled her new friend on her chest and held out her hand to Koda. She waited for him to join her before she spoke. “You will always be my friend but you are also K’ron’s and he needs you too.” Nerlyn quietly stroked him exactly where she knew he would like it.

Koda considered her before he finally stepped onto her offered hand. He chirped and leaned into the stroke.

K'ron smiled. “He'll be fine. Just a little jealous right now.”

“No reason to be jealous. You are still my favourite brown firelizard. You kept me alive…” She said quietly as she thought on the ledge and the night she nearly lost herself fully. “and there will always be scraps for you,” she said to prove her point and gave him several of the meat pieces. “Just think more time to snuggle with Raen.” She commented knowing the flit loved the little boy.

Koda accepted the offered meat with a cheep. The brown had been there for Nerlyn and still would. He perked up when the little boy was his favorite little person and he loved him.

K’ron smiled as he watched. “looks like I still lost Koda,” he laughed, knowing Koda would be with Raen a lot. “so any idea for a name for the little one?”

Nerlyn offered the brown a kiss on his head before she shifted to sit on the sofa with both durelizards on her. “Sorry. Part family man now and Koda is the family pet it seems.” Nerlyn teased. “Not in the slightest.” Nerlyn admitted Looking at the dainty flit. “Maybe see what her personality is like.”

The bronze rider pulled up a chair and plopped into it so he could face Nerlyn. “It does seem that way. I don't think he minds,” he chuckled as Koda curled up happily. He nodded. “That's a good idea.”

Nerlyn smiled and decided to tease him just a little. “Do you mind?” She wondered, smiling as he pulled up a dining table chair so he was sat in front of her. Nerlyn had no idea what to call her, she had never had a pet before so it was completely new ground for her.

“What? that Koda watches over you and Raen? I don't mind at all. I know you guys are safe then.” He smiled, watching her. It was cute seeing her with the two firelizards.

beryn rolled her yes as he turned her teasing around. “Here I am teasing you and you are all family man and I worry about you both on me.” She shook her head grinning as she leaned over and touched his knee. “Thank you K’ron. Thank you for always listening and loving me.”

The bronze rider chuckled. “Oops. Didn't even realize you were teasing me,” he admitted. he did love his family and having Koda keep an eye on them when he couldn't made him feel better. “Of course. I love you and will always listen.”

She had to admit the man really did listen better than she gave him credit for. Maybe they were just getting more in tune with the other. The woman nodded before she turned white as she remembered where they were meant to be tonight. “Shards and shells, the dolphineer celebration.” The woman breathed looking at the sleeping firelizard and the other one just content to be close.

K'ron groaned. He had completely forgot about that in his excitement to get the egg to Nerlyn. “Ty can get us there quickly. Do you want me to hold your sleeping beauty while you get ready?” He offered. “and we can get Raen after we're ready?”

“No. I can manage this.” She scooped up both firelizards and scrambled off to the bedroom. “Are you changing or staying as desirable as you are now?” Nerlyn called as there was a lot of confused chirping and Nerlyn’s hushed tone before it settled back down. The dolphineer appeared minutes later one green lizard tucked into the pocket of her pale blue dress and the brown perch on her shoulder.

K'ron laughed as she disappeared. “Well,” he teased. He did walk in to at least change into a clean pair of pants and shirt. He didn't know what this meeting was about but he at least wanted to be presentable. “That was quite talented,” he commented, smiling at the pair of firelizards.

“I can do anything given enough time Ki. Thought you knew that by now. I am a woman of many talents.” Nerlyn grinned up at him as she leaned up to kiss him quickly as she set about gathering the rest of her items as well as jackets for herself and Raen.

“I never doubted that,” he chuckled. He enjoyed seeing this side of her. They were finally in a good place. “How can I help?” He offered, getting his own jacket. Koda refused to leave Nerlyn.

“Just get your dragon ready. I have the fire lizards and I’ll go grab Raen and meet you in the bowl” She prompted grabbing up her satchel full of items to distract Raen and other items that they might need. It was hard to tell what they would need when aye only knew she had to turn up.

“On it.” K'ron spun on his heel and headed for the ledge where Tyreth had his head through the opening and had been listening. The bronze was excited to fly. He didn't get to take the whole family very often. The big bronze lowered his head and let K'ron get all his straps on and buckled.

Nerlyn just smiled at the man turning on her heels to get Raen and work out what was going on at the celebration.
