Theeressa loved early mornings just sat watching the sun rise on the back door of the cottage in the small garden they had that was filled with herbs and vegetables that somehow she had kept alive for a whole season. It would nearly be nice to harvest some of them if her farmer crafter friends calculations was anything to go by. She loved the easy pace of life and the fact she had 2 daughters and a husband to love. She smiled as the fire lizards zoomed past her to enjoy the morning flight of another day as she drank her klah.
Riklan yawned a bit as he walked outside with a mug of klah. It seemed like there was never a dull moment as a healer, but he couldn’t imagine his life any other way. He loved his little family to pieces. “Good morning, love,” he smiled, catching sight of his wife.
“Oh hello.” She had not thought anyone else was up yet as he had been sound asleep when she had stirred with Kassa to feed.
He sat down beside her, enjoying the morning air. “How are you this morning?” He asked. Riklan hadn't even heard her move to Kassa that morning.
“Awake. How about you?” She wondered smiling as he came and sat down on the bench with her. It was nice to have a moment like that before the day began and separated them.
Riklan chuckled a bit. “Fair enough,” he smiled. “Still waking up. Those late night call outs are miserable,” he admitted, but he wouldn't give up his time with her.
The woman smiled and lay her head against his shoulder. He did not care that she was sitting there in her night dress and robe. “You get some more sleep sweetheart. How many were there?” Theeressa wondered softly as she had woken up a couple of times to being alone.
He sipped on his klah, content to have Theeressa close. He blew out a breath. “Three,” he answered. “They're all okay, but it made it hard to sleep.” He shook his head a bit. “I'm okay,” Riklan promised.
“When will you being on call end?” She wondered quietly. That explained why he had been gone a lot.
Riklan thought about his shift. “Only a couple more days,” he answered. He didn't mind night shift but it was hard with having a family.
“I think I prefer when you aren’t on call.” She laughed a little as she thought about it but he did what he could to make marks to support them until she could go back to work.
He nodded. “It was a lot easier to be on call before I had a family. Now I just want to be here with you guys.” Riklan hated leaving them.
“I can understand why there are many crafters unmarried.” The woman admitted thinking of the beastcrafter she had met a few days ago. “But I understand.” She quickly countered, wanting him to know he had her support no matter what.
Riklan shrugged. “Might have made it easier, but I wouldn't trade this life for anything,” he smiled at her. He loved his family.
The woman laughed a little at his thoughts. “Not giving you back.” She assured him as she refused to move from his shoulder. “Like I said, no Harper for miles around will give you a divorce.” She reminded.
“Definitely don't want a divorce,” he smiled, putting an arm around her. “And definitely don't want to be given back,” he assured her. He loved his life.
The woman laughed a little as he put his arms around him and pulled her a little closer. “I won’t go back.” She told him. “But I do want to help you wherever I can because it's me and you.”
“You help me just by being here,” he said, kissing her hair. “I know you and the girls are safe. That means I can do my job.”
“Of course, we are safe. We are no one now.” She commented softly, taking a sip of the klah. “And I love being no one with you.” She told him softly. There was comfort in being no one with the love of your life.
Riklan smiled. “I like being no one and having you,” he whispered. He didn't want to be away from Theeressa. He loved his life with them.
Theeressa stayed quiet for a moment, letting the sunshine hit her face as the sun properly rose. “But eventually I will have to go back to the tavern.” She commented, reminding him softly. “Or something.”
Riklan gently rubbed her arm, sipping on his klah. “I know. But right now we can just enjoy the time together.”
“Kassa will eventually have to go to creche.” The woman commented and smiled as his thumb traced a pattern on her arm. “We can when we are together. When is your next rest day?” She wondered, thinking maybe they could do something nice like a walk to the pool and take Kassa further into the Hold.
He nodded. Hopefully that would not be for a bit yet. “Three days from now. After I get off night shift,” he answered.
“Not long then.” Theeresssa said quietly. They could all wait a few more days for them to spend a bit more time together.
“No, not at all. It will be nice.” He was looking forward to spending some time with his family. The girls were growing so fast.
The silence was comfortable and exactly what she wanted after all the trouble with Sophida. “I'm going to have to learn to share the bed properly.” She teased him a little as she pulled away to drink some of her klah.
Riklan closed his eyes, breathing in the fresh air. It was a beautiful morning. He laughed a bit. “Yes you are,” he grinned.
“I am sure you can remind me.” She flirted just a little with him as she watched him smiling. He looked so at peace and settled for the first time in a long time.
He turned to smile down at her. “And I look forward to doing just that,” he assured her. He hated having to leave her in the middle of the night.
“Promises promises.” She teased him. She loved how easy it was between them and looked forward to reconnecting again. They had kissed and made out but any further had been impossible until Theeressa recovered.
“Oh I definitely plan on making good on that promise,” he grinned, kissing her hair. He had never expected to be this happy or have someone like Theeressa in his life.
The woman laughed a little and turned her head to kiss him properly. “Well we shall have to see if you remember how it all works. Been months .” She laughed as she heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
It had been months but he had wanted her healthy before they tried anything. “Think I can remember,” he teased, before looking over his shoulder.
“Mmmhmmm. You used to be all sweet and innocent until I got my claws into you.” She said as a small voice called out mummy. “Out here sweetheart.” Theeressa called to Laressa who promptly appeared to stop her parents flirting.
“You are a bad influence,” he laughed just before Laressa appeared. “Morning baby girl,” he smiled at their eldest.
Theeeressa said nothing as she pulled the girl up onto her lap relieved that she had her strength and that it no longer hurt. “Good morning to you.” She greeted as Laressa wiggled a little to get comfortable.
“What are you doing out here?” She wondered.
Riklan moved his arm when Theeressa moved to pick up Laressa. “We're enjoying the sunshine. What are you doing up so early baby girl?”
“The firelizards all left me.” The girl explained.
“Ah, were they in your bed again?” Theeeressa wondered and looked at Riklan expectantly as the girl looked up and tried to look innocent.
Riklan pressed his lips together, trying not to laugh. “I take that face as a definite yes,” he said, ruffling his daughter's hair.
“Which is why they shouldn’t be in your bed.” Theeressa said, rolling her eyes. Laressa was not a naughty child she just loved forelizards far too much and they loved her back.
“Sorry mummy. We all were cosy.” She explained. “Until they realised it was dawn and wiggled out.”
“Just like you then my little wiggle bug.” Theeressa said tickling the girls side.
Riklan shook his head. No matter what they tried, the firelizards always found Laressa. It was cute if they didn't wake her up all the time. “Someone is going to need a nap later.”
“I don’t nap anymore daddy.” The girl laughed.
“Tell me about it.” Theeressa commented over her klah.
“Well daddy likes naps,” Riklan said. The older he got the more he liked naps.
“Mummy certainly like naps.” Theeressa assured. She loved her afternoon nap with Kassa whilst the house was still.
“Wouldn't you like to take a nap with us?” Riklan tried to tempt his daughter. They all needed the sleep.
“I can’t when I am with the harpers.” She laughed, still finding it amusing.
“Maybe this afternoon once I get you hone we can see if you want to snuggle with mummy and Kassa and have a nap.” Theeressa offered. The little girl did not commit but she nodded.
Riklan chuckled. Leave it to his daughter to be practical. “That sounds like a good afternoon to me,” he commented.
“Well you can join mummy if you are home daddy.” Laressa commented back as she stood up. “I am hungry.” She realised.
“Can I now?” He asked with a laugh. Leave it to Laressa to point that out. “Alright let's go find some food.”
Theeressa smiled as she awkwardly rose off the bench. “Porridge will be a few minutes.” She said not having started it before she came outside. The woman had thought she was going to have to more time.
“I can do that,” Riklan offered. He wasn't due back to his shift til that night unless someone needed help.
Theeressa raised an eyebrow at the man. “You know how to cook?” She teased as she easily picked up the Laressa and held her close to her chest.
“Seriously?” He asked, pretending to be hurt by her words. “I did have to cook for myself,” he added.
Theeressa laughed and kissed him softly making Laressa cover her eyes. “Feed me husband.” She demanded softly grinning up at him.
Riklan laughed. “I can do that,” he assured, leaning into her kiss. It would be nice to do something special for her.
