Milayna yawned a bit as she stepped into the weyr. The kids were at the creche playing since she had spent most of the day honing sewing skills as an apprentice. It was fun but a lot of work. Now a warm bath sounded nice.
As she stepped into the bathing chamber she tugged her shirt over her head, hissing slightly. Sharding scar on her side still hurt from time to time and today she knew she had strained some muscles. Milayna glanced down at her healed side, hating the look of the Z carved into her otherwise smooth skin.
F’cone came into the bathing chamber and stopped dead as he saw Milayna there looking at the scar. He hated the reminder of all that she had been through but it faded more and more as time passed. He hoped one day it would be nothing but a horrible memory that had been pushed to the back with all the fantastic things she had done since. “Looks like we both had the same idea Mil.” He said smiling as his hand covered the scar blocking it from her view as he slid up behind her.
The young woman hadn't heard F'cone slip in and squealed a little when his hand touched her side. She quickly settled back down and grinned up at her mate. “I see that,” she said, wishing she could feel his hand more. There was no feeling in the scar but at least she could feel the warmth.
“Drills finished early as a Weyrling got hurt.” He said sadly. The kid had not done anything wrong but had gotten tangled up and free fallen in confusion over the order. Thankfully Kalaith and Lana had managed to stop anything disastrous from happening by catching the young pair but it had certainly put a damper on what had been successful drills until then. “They are fine thanks to Lana and Kalaith but had been a moment…” he let that thought drift off.
“Oh, F'cone that's awful. I am glad the pair are okay though.” She had heard keening a few times and she never wanted to hear it again if she could help it. Milayna slowly turned his arms, glad he hadn't really commented on her awful scar. “I am glad you are back. The kids are still at the creche for a bit.”
The man just smiled sadly down at her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Me too.” He agreed before grinning at her comment about the kids being in the creche for a little longer. “I gathered when I heard no sound other than your footfall. Caladoth is sunny himself in the bowl so I came back via the stairs.”
}: And the sun is very nice and there are lots of new people to watch.:{ The bronze declared making F’cone smile fondly with that far away look.
“True,” she laughed. “They are rather noisy. Mian keeps talking about the dolphins and Falayna keeps babbling about Caladoth.” It was actually cute and very special as Milayna never figured her children would get to enjoy such a life.
“That would explain why I didn't hear you. Glad Caladoth is enjoying the sun. Does that mean I get to keep you for a bit?”She asked, smiling up at him.
“At least a candlemark or so.” He breathed turning her around and pulled her back against him just enjoying the closeness for a moment. He buried his head in her neck and just sighed. Threadful and Drills were stressing him out more than they normally had recently and they had been his life for far more turns than he wanted to think about now. “Fancy a bathe together?” He wondered quietly.
“It's a start anyhow,” she whispered. She would take whatever time with him that she could. She giggled softly as he turned her back around in his arms. Whatever let her stay close to him was good. “That sounds like a perfect idea.”
“It’s been a while without having our children around.” He murmured savouring the moment of having her close. It had been awhile, he wanted to ask her about her day and how weaving had been going but the questions were forgotten as he kissed her neck quickly and stepped back to start taking off his shirt.
“It has,” she agreed. It put a bit of damper on any idea of romance but she loved having the children around. And F'cone had taken to Mian so quickly. She remained against him a few seconds longer before reluctantly moving to finish getting undressed.
The man smiled and touched her shoulder as he grabbed her clothes and tossed them behind them. “Beautiful.” He stated simply.
“Hey,” she laughed as he tossed her clothes out of reach. Her face flushed a bit, but the smile remained on her face as wisps of blonde hair fell around her face. “Thank you.”
He smiled at her protesting. “For?” He wondered wrapping his arms around her slowly to bring her back to where she had been previously against him.
“Just being you,” she whispered. Shards she loved the silly bronze rider. She snuggled back against him, letting his warmth keep her cozy and safe.
“I am trying to be the man you need.” He breathed, pressing a kiss to her temple. He knew he was a mess a lot of the time but he had strong affections for her and wanted nothing more than to keep her safe and happy. He wanted his family with him despite his mood shifts.
Milayna smiled up at him. “Love you are doing fine. I know we are safe with you and the children are thriving.” She knew they still had their ups and downs but lately they had figured out how to work through them and she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
“You are.” He whispered. “Dragon Hold is gone. Caladoth helped burn the place to nothing but dust.” He said moving in front of her lifting her chin up to him. “We have nothing but the future in front of us.”
“There are times I still can't believe Dragon Hold is gone,” she admitted. It had been her whole life. A tear of happiness slid down her cheek. “you have no idea how happy that makes me.”
“Me and Cal can take you any time you want to see how gone it is.” He said gently wiping the tear away gently. He knew it was happy and not sad but still, it did not have a right to be on her cheek. “I do. It is a relief to me that I won’t have to wake up worrying that someone has gone in the night.”
A smile touched her lips. “Thank you for that offer.” She closed her eyes at his gentle touch to wipe the tear away. “Never again. I never want to leave you.”
“I just mean I can show you from above.” He said quietly bending to kiss her softly as she closed her eyes. A’ren and himself had been very singular in how they had destroyed the place with the other southern weyrleaders. It was one of the few times they had been on the same side with the same goal other than Lana’s safety. “But it's not a single offer… it’s open forever.” He
She nodded. She knew the riders had made sure the place was totally destroyed. Right now she was just glad that her and her brother had managed to escape and actually start a new life with loving and caring people. Milayna snuggled against his chest. “I know. And if I ever start doubting I'll let you know.”
“Good.” He looked down and smiled at her snuggled against him. “Come on. Bathing pool.” He encouraged knowing they were losing time together before the children needed to be retrieved.
“Yes sir,” she giggled, moving away from him. They both definitely needed cleaned up before they retrieved the kids.
