Mission:
3531 AL
Location: River Cove Weyr
Timeline: M2 D16
K'vin dusted off his hands as he jogged back up to his weyr. He had spent the day helping build new pens for the herd beasts and was now tired. Not to mention he hadn't seen Jena that day yet which was surprising. Hopefully he could find her after he cleaned up a bit.
The bronze rider stepped into the weyr, tugging his sweaty, mud-caked shirt over his head. A quick bath and clean clothes and he would go find Jena.
Jena came in as she watched him taking his shirt off. She leaned against the door and just watched him for a moment before the queen snorted loudly and revealed herself “Hey bronze rider Why are you all sweaty and muddy on your rest day?” She wondered, laughing a little at what he could have been up to whilst she had been getting all cold and wet.
K'vin jumped a little when he heard the gold and then spun toward his mate's voice. He grinned at her. “Just building pens,” he answered, dropping his shirt on the floor for clean up later. “I was just thinking I needed to find you after I cleaned up a bit.”
She smiled as she started to wiggle out of the rest of her wet clothing to find new ones to put on just in case the Weyrleaders decided they were going to leave there and then. “Yet here I am.” She chuckled smiling at the mud that was on him. “Why are you building pens?” She asked interested in what had led him to that activity on his rest day.
“Why are you so wet?” He asked now noticing how damp she was. “And i’m glad you’re here.” he shrugged a shoulder. I was headed back from the dining cavern when I saw them struggling with some wood. wherry brained me offered to help,” he answered with a chuckle.
“So you just decided to help the best crafters.” The woman could not understand his thought pattern sometimes but smiled at him and how sweet he was. It was likely he saw Marika or someone he knew and it had just happened. She glanced down at her trousers and shrugged. “It is raining at Farsite. I was on a sweep.” She explained finally shimming the trousers off so she could sit on the bed and get the boots off without dampening the furniture.
K'vin shrugged a shoulder. “Yep guess I did,” he grinned. Of course he didn't mention that he had just stopped to talk not really help. “Shards no wonder you're so wet.” He reached over to grab a fur to drape over her shoulders.
The woman shooed him off and shook her head. “I am okay. The Weyrwoman made sure me and T’tarel had klah on return as we had to stop after 2 candlemarks as we got distracted by something in the ground they we are going to investigate.
“Distracted by what?” he asked curiously as he gave up on the fur. If she claimed she was okay then he would believe her unless he saw her shivering.
”Thank you though.” She smiled at his sweetness. She really had made the right choice with him despite what queen riders were meant to be. It was not her at all and she was not sure it was Lana either despite the expectations. “We are not sure but it’s all to do with the ruins.” She sighed thoughtfully, not at all sure what to make of it all. She
“The ruins? There's still something there?” That was hard to believe but he trusted Jena. If she said she saw something then she definitely did. “Are they going to investigate?”
“Possibly. Weyrlings used to go there all the time but the Weyrleaders are being a little strange about it all.” She admitted untieing the boots and throwing them out into the living area to dry off before they smelt. “Hopefully tomorrow but I do not know something has happened between Lana, A’ren and K’ron involving the ruins and stuff.” She shrugged not at all sure how to explain it without sounding mad.
K'vin shook his head. It was strange that the ruins had such a strange vibe around them now. “Really? Wonder what about? Not much usually gets to K'ron. That seems really odd.” He wondered just what was going on.
Jena smiled over her shoulder at him as K’ron was mentioned and he didn't even bat an eyelid when the other bronze rider was mentioned despite him winning her flight. It proved that he loved her and not the position which meant the world to her.
“Nerlyn is related to it.” Jena was really confused around the situation so bouncing it off K’vin was helpful as usual. After 3 turns together he was not even phased by anything Queen Rider related. She finally got out of the trousers and the remaining damp clothes and grabbed up the offered fur with a grateful smile wrapping it around herself. “It's complicated and stuff from more than ten turns ago but I do not know how to help anyone.”
“Ooh that explains a little bit better as to why K'ron is upset.” That man was fiercely protective of his mate. K'vin smiled as Jena finally accepted the fur and wrapped up in it. He shook his head a bit. “I don’t know what happened then. It must have been important though to bring it up after so many Turns.”
“It does but it just sounds lije something has been dug up. I know the current Weyrleaders would never cause problems but...” Jena sighed. Nothing was really making sense but what could she do to sort it all out when she had no idea what was going on.
}:You can’t.:{ The queen dragon commented with a sleepy snort from her ledge.
***But I want to help my friends*** She replied.
}: Kalaith’s says not to interfere and she and the Weyrleader will explain.:{ Jena sighed wondering what was being said between her Queen and Kalaith for Zalyith for her to relay that.
K'vin nodded in understanding. “I get it but sometimes it's better if we don't know” he said gently. There were some things that they just couldn't fix.
“You sound just like Zalyith.” Jena teased softly as she stood up wrapping the fur around herself more as started to search for spare flight gear through the chests.
“Oh no. I've been around you queen riders too much,” he laughed as he moved to pulled her into his arms.
Jena stopped her quest looking in a chest when the man grabbed her from behind and held her against his chest. “It is never a bad thing. But Kalaith has instructed Zalyith to stop me inquiring further.” She grumbled. “It makes me feel uneasy that things are going on that I cannot work out and unwrap to help.” She finally decided to reveal her worry. She worried about her friends and how they were not allowing her to help.
K'vin held her close and let her talk. He could tell she was still upset. “I can understand that. You want your friends to be happy and there is definitely something going on. Perhaps they will say more as time goes on or after that visit to the ruins,” he suggested, resting his chin on her head.
The woman nodded. It was what she was hoping for but it did not mean at all that she liked it. “I do not like just sitting and waiting.” Jena reminded him but nodded, taking what he said to heart. “But you are all right.” She soothed him and herself that she would take a step back and think things through properly.
“I know you don't. It's not easy to sit by and do nothing.” He understood completely. K'vin just held her close, glad that it seemed like she was starting to agree.
It really was not something that sat well with her at all. She wanted to be up doing things which was why she was so active all the time. “It is not.” She had been the same at weaver hall before being searched.
He considered it. “Well let's find something you can control while we wait to hear the next steps,” he suggested.
“You are far too calm.” She murmured smiling as she turned to look up at him. He had mellowed her in their turns together which was nice and frustrating some times. She wanted to be quick tongued and quick to action but neither the bronze rider or queen allowed her to get ahead of herself now without thinking. “You need a bath and I can control that.”
“Only sometimes,” he assured her. He over reacted at times but tried hard not to. “Oh you can control that huh?” He teased, looking down at her with a grin.
The only time she had seen him less than cool and composed had been the day she had left him on the beach after turns end when she had panicked about her feelings for him. she still regretted leaving him there naked and alone, it had not been her finest moment. “Mmmhmm.” She assured looking up at him with a smirk.
He raised a brow. “And what are you planning?” He asked curiously. Knowing her she had something in mind. Her mind never seemed to slow down.
The curious tone was endearing as he looked at her and she stared back innocently. “Nothing. Nothing at all.” The woman leaned behind him and retrieved a glass of water from the side that she had poured in the night thirst and dumped it on his head. She stepped back grinning at the way it rolled down his face and then on to his chest.
“I don't believe that one.” She had that look about her. A surprised shout escaped his lips though when she dumped the water over his head. “Really?” He asked wiping the water from his face before moving to snag her in his arms.
“Really. You looked like you could use some help cleaning off.” The woman’s reflexes kicked in and she dove for the bed but let out a surprised gasp as the momentum sent her flying off the other side and she ended up laughing in a heap.
K'vin started laughing as he jumped up on the bed. “That didn't work well,” he laughed, looking down at her.
“And very much proves why I need you in my life.” The queen rider confirmed standing slowly as she shook herself off grinning. “Thankfully I took all the furs with me.” She said quietly looking at the mess she had made of the bedroom in her impulses.
The bronze rider pushed back to his feet. “Good padding at least,” he grinned, moving around the bed to snag her up in his arms. “And it's a good thing I'm not going anywhere, gold rider.”
The younger woman was easily snagged up and held against him again. She wrapped her arms over his just feeling the warmth of him despite the dampness that was there. “Good. I did mean that you calm down some more of my more… erratic impulses.” She breathed.
“And you keep me from being too uptight,” he whispered, kissing her. shards she had been the best thing that had happened to him.
“I try.” Jena grinned pulling back from the kiss with a laugh as she tickled his side. “Come on love of my life. Bath time.” She tempted trailing her fingers along his side as she gave up on the fur and just headed into the bathing chamber.
He shifted slightly away from her touch as it tickled. “If we must,” he huffed before laughing. “Right behind you.” K'vin followed Jena.
