Analees woke in a cold sweat, feeling awful. She started to tremble a bit as she quietly slid out of bed, trying not to wake V'ros. she knew he had a busy day with the weyrlings in the morning. She grabbed up an extra fur and padded out to the couch where she buried her face in the fur and curled up, trying not to shake. what was wrong with her?
V’ros sighed as he reached out to snuggle against his mate but only caught air. He blinked a few times as he tried to wake up a little more to see where Ana was. It was before dawn and there was no way she should be awake. Where was she? He slowly stood up from bed and saw that there was a glow lit in the living area and ventured out pulling on his trousers awkwardly as he went.
Analees looked up at the sound of soft footsteps. She managed a wobbly smile when she saw her mate. “I tried not to wake you,” she apologized, snuggling deeper into the fur. Sweat still slicked her brow though as she shivered.
V’ros rolled his eyes as she leaned over the sofa to look her over before promptly picking her up. He strode back into the bedroom and put back in the bed and silently put the covers back over her. “You wake me every time. I’m going to get you a healer.” He said quietly returning back to the living area and bellowed down to the cavern to send someone up.
She should have known he would hear her even if she tried to keep quiet. She squeaked in surprise though when he lifted her into his arms like she weighed nothing and headed back to their room. “But…” she started to protest but was too late as V'ros disappeared to do just as he said he would. .
The man returned and sat by her on the bed and leaned over feeling her forehead. “You are burning up.” The bronze rider said softly as he stood again to get her some water and to check that Rosan was sound asleep and Ana being unwell had not stirred him.
Analees flinched slightly at his gentle touch. “I'm so cold,” she admitted. Why was she feeling like this? Carrying Rosan hadn't made her feel like this. Was it the worry and dreams? She didn't know.
“Which is impossible in the south.” V’ros said frowning at the way she flinched. He hated how poorly she looked.
“Hello?” A soft female voice called from the main entrance as someone knocked and pushed open the door. Thalia slipped in and smiled as she found the bronze rider in the doorway. “Well what do we have here Analees?” Thalia did not know the woman well but she knew her well enough to know her name and that her shivering in bed was not normal.
V'ros was right there. It was impossible to be cold in the South but that's just what she was. Very cold. She managed a shaky smile for Thalia, having seen the healer around the Weyr. “Ah,” Analees tried, tugging the furs close. “Cold and shaky.”
V’ros hung back turning a few of the glows over higher as he allowed the healer to sit down and start to examine the woman. “And that is not good when we live in the south. And how long have you been feeling like that?” She wondered picking up her wrist to check her pulse.
Analees pressed her lips together. She knew it wasn't good. “A couple sevendays I guess. This is the first bad day since the day before V'ros went north,” she answered quietly. Why did she feel like this again?
“Any other symptoms?” Thalia wondered counting under her breath before she glanced back at V’ros.
“She is correct.” V’ros said mid-yawn, making the woman laugh a little. “Sorry. Long day. Long night.” He said trying to not guilt Analeeswhen she had left the bed to avoid waking him up.
Analees's shoulders slumped when V'ros yawned. he was awake because of her. “A bit nauseous,” she finally admitted. “Most cold and shivery. A bit weak.” She hated admitting it.
V’ros moved and sat behind Analees on the other side of her. “Sounds like a virus. It’s the time of turn when everyone gets poorly if they are not careful.” She said kindly as she offered a reassuring smile.
The dark haired woman pressed her lips together. A virus? Was it wrong that she would be happier about that then the possibility of a baby? She glanced back at V'ros. “And the baby?”
“Baby?” Thalia had not know about a pregnancy but you never knew. “Lie back and we can see?” She said recovering her composure a little as the older woman lay down and Thalia shifted the furs and clothes to touch her stomach pressing firmly.
Maybe she was wrong. she hoped. Analees carefully laid back, fighting back tears of fear and anger at herself for hoping not to be pregnant. “I'm sorry,” she mouthed to V'ros. She felt awful.
The Weyrlingmaster shook his head firmly and leaned out to touch her hand as Thalia patted the furs back down. “Certainly not pregnant. Your uterus is normal sized.” The healer assured.
Analees blinked before letting the tears roll down her cheeks which only made her feel worse. She was happy, sad, and unsure all at the same time. She gripped V'ros’ hand tightly.
“Hey it’s okay.” Thalia said sitting on the bed again asV’ros bundled the woman close to him. He knew why she was crying and it was okay. “Things seem worse before dawn.” She said gently as she started to look through her bag for something to bring her fever down and make her feel more comfortable.
Analees buried her face in V'ros’ shoulder, not able to stop crying. “I…i,” she tried but to no avail. She was honestly so relieved but it made her feel bad. She had been so scared though and the nightmares had shown it. “so it's just a virus?” She whispered.
“I suspect so.” Thalia said gently as she stood up. “Can you walk?” The healer wondered softly. “I’d feel more comfortable if you were in infirmary for the day.”
Analees slowly nodded as she reluctantly unburied her face. “I think so,” she whispered. She had made it out to the couch after all. Although spending the day in the infirmary wasn't something she was looking forward to.
“We can take it steady.” Thalia said grabbing up the woman’s jacket and put it around her as she stood up.
“I’ll come visit you in the morning.” V’ros said looking concerned, wishing he could leave to take her to the infirmary but he had to stay for Rosan. He followed the pair tot the door watching as Thalia supported his mate.
Analees carefully got to her feet. She was still shivering badly but the jacket helped. “it's okay. I know you have lessons in the morning. I'll be okay,” she tried to assure her mate. At least she hoped she was telling the truth. She felt lousy.
“She’ll be fine.” The healer assured gripping the woman just a little harder to make sure that she didn’t fall. If only she had an apprentice on night shift to help with this. It didn't help V’ros’ mood at all.
She hadn’t meant to lean on Thalia so much but apparently staying on her feet was harder than she thought. Her head was starting to pound as she walked, making her a bit unsteady.
“You are going to be fine Analees.” Thalia assured. She was sure that it was just a virus and she’ll be okay with a little bit of rest and some assistance for herbs. “Well get you some medication and then rest.”
“Thank you,” she said softly. And she meant for a lot more than just the offer of the medication. Maybe she would sleep now without the nightmares.
