Mission: 3531 AL
Location: River Cove Weyr
Timeline: M2 D7

T’mil grumbled under his breath as he glared at Meinirth. The brown didn't seem to care at all though as he splashed around in the water. T'mil sighed and gripped his left arm to his chest. Cathlyn was going to kill him but right now though he needed to get it cleaned and bandaged.

The brown rider quietly slipped into their weyr, heading for the bathing chamber and water.

As he came in, Cathlyn was coming out wearing clean flight gear looking as if she was heading out. She stopped as she saw her mate clutching his arm. “What you doing?” She wondered eyeing him up suspiciously.

T'mil slid to a stop, not having heard his mate. He cringed though at her question, dropping his arm which didn't help as blood now trailed down his arm. “Just going to get cleaned up.”

“Shards T’mil.” The woman asked stepping forward to help him gathering up a clean shirt as she went to stem the flow. “I can see that but that does not explain what did you?” She firmly pressed the shirt to the wound. She might not be as firm as her older siblings but she could be with T’mil when she needed to be.

He hesitated, trying to decide how to answer. A hiss escaped his lips though as she pressed the shirt to the wound. “Managed to find the sharpest rock in the lake,” he answered. “And Meinirth tossed me.”

Cathlyn resisted the urge to laugh, but laughter was in her eyes as she touched his cheek. “Now, why would he do that?” the woman asked, knowing Brown would feel bad once he realised that had happened. He must have known he hurt you in his enjoyment.”

“Go ahead and laugh,” he grumbled, looking up at her touch. “I was only trying to bathe him. Don't think he realized I was hurt,” he admitted. T'mil had tried to keep that from his dragon as it hadn't really been Meinirth's fault. It was just a bad landing.

“I am laughing with you and not at you.” The woman assured as she tugged him to a chair and set him down moving his free hand to hold the shirt as she got several items to sort it out. She sat down in front of him with a bowl of water and several clothes, retwort and numbweed. “I am sure he will be kinder next time.” She assured knowing that Onith had done it several times to her.

“Yeah yeah,” he grumbled. It had just been wherry headed but of course, now he had a nice gash to remember it by. He collapsed into the chair knowing it was pointless to argue with Cathlyn. at least not when she was in this mood. “I'm sure. We'll see,” he actually smiled.

The woman set to work quietly cleaning up the gash smiling as she noticed it was not quite as bad as he had thought. “It’s more a scrap than anything.” She promised pouring the redwort onto it winching as the smell mixed with the numbweed in her nose. “Stay still and let that set a little whilst I wash my hands.” She rose steadily to her feet trying to not touch anything as she went.

T'mil tried to keep still. “That's good at least,” he said, glad it wasn't as bad as he had thought. He twitched his nose when he smelled the mixture. “That is an awful smell,” he commented, trying not to move so it had a chance to dry.

“One of the many reasons why I do not believe I could be a healer.” The woman commented from the bathing chamber as there were sounds of splashing. She glanced out and smiled at him staying extra still.

“Never wanted to be a healer,” he agreed. He couldn't imagine dealing with this kind of thing daily. He looked at his arm, still not believing he found a sharding rock.

“I’d considered a craft if I did not impress but that was being a Harper. Being a Healer looks and feels about the same stress as fall constantly.” She did not know how Terilyn, Thalia and Nikolai did it constantly without burning out.”Should be dry enough to wrap up now.” Cathlyn declared coming out wiping her hands dry to gather up a bandage.

“Definitely not a Healer. I would have to agree. They seem under constant stress.” T'mil really didn't want to do that. “Oh good,” he laughed, lowering his arm a bit to reach for the bandages.

Cathlyn smiled and started to wrap his arm tightly pressing the numbweed against his skin to make it last longer. “You should be fine my love.” She assured as she did a knot at the end that would be very hard to undo. “So apart from a soaking in the lake what have you been up to?” She wondered thinking that she had been on her way to lunch when he had come in.

He winced just slightly when she tightened the bandage but the numbweed helped. “No much really. was trying to get Meinirth a bath,” he laughed. “You see how that turned out.”

The woman laughed and leaned forward pressing a kiss to his forehead. “I did but I sorted you out.” She said softly, starting to sort out the supplies and put them all away to tidy up the place easily. She glanced at the bloodied shirt and shrugged chucking it towards the bathing chamber to soak in cold water to attempt to get the blood out.

“That may be a lost cause,” he chuckled as she chucked his shirt. “and you did. I thank you.” Now maybe he could finish up some things for the day.

“It is not a lost cause until I have given it a chance.” Cathlyn smiled. “So what did you have planned for the rest of the day?” She asked not having had time over breakfast to ask as she had drills at dawn and had been in no state to ask.

He chuckled, knowing not to argue with that one. “Some food and then I have sweeps later,” he answered.

Cathlyn looked at him and then at the wound. “Might want to get that looked at by a better healer if you have to between.” She advised with a smile and caress to his cheek as she thought about things. “Shall we have lunch together then?” She offered thinking it might be nice to have a mid-day meal together for once. They normally did not have that opportunity with different wings but seeing they had only had a quick breakfast and dinner would be missed by his sweeps.

“Hmm good point,” he agreed. He would do that before sweeps. He returned her smile before nodding. “That sounds like a great idea. Don't get to do that too often.” It was hard to get meals together sometimes.

“We do not, which is why I suggested it.” She said looping her arm through his good one and started to lead him out to the stairs. “We normally have breakfast or dinner together but never lunch.” They weren’t in each other's pockets which was nice especially when things happened to surprise her and change her day meaning they got to enjoy some time together.

“Very good suggestion.” He grinned at her before heading toward the Dining Cavern. This was a nice change. Something that they didn't get to enjoy often. But he would take the time they could get.
