Mission: 3531 AL
Location: River Cove
Timeline: M3 D21

Laliy stood in the middle of the Weyrling Barracks, Mirage cuddled in her arms and Micayith bouncing around exploring everywhere. Laliy bit her lip. How had things changed so suddenly? Shards, would she be able to get situated here? At least she noticed she wasn't the only gold rider here. That was a big plus.

V’ros smiled as he indicated the area that would be hers and Micayith’s for the next couple of months . “There are a few female Weyrlibgs but you can easily spread out a bit.” Kirala came in carrying a pile of items for her. “Lighter clothes and other practical clothes that you will need,” the green rider set them on the locker for the gold rider to look through.

So many new things. Laliy didn't even know what to think. So much had changed and happened all in a short time. “Thank you,” she told Kirala. “How many others are there?” She asked curiously as Micayith sniffed at a rock and then made her way toward the weyr.

“20 other female junior weyrlings. 17 green and 3 blue. There were 47 at the last clutch from Kalaith and Zarmianth” Kirala said gently as she watched the little queen amused at her sniffing and the way her eyes were whirling. V’ros stayed quiet accessing the situation better now the girl was safe in the barracks.

Laliy blinked in surprise. “That is a lot,” she answered. But then she knew clutches were big. Micayith's clutch had been big. The little gold soon wandered back over and sat beside her rider, clearly okay with her new surroundings.

“Standard clutch size.” Kirala said thinking on the numbers in her head of the last couple of clutches. “You’ll see the newest one in 2 sevendays or so. Zalyith should clutch very soon.” The queen had been looking heavier than usual when she had observed Jena washing and oiling the queen.

The young gold weyrling nodded a bit. “So much to take in,” she answered. she could see there was a lot to learn. “Two sevendays? That soon?” This place amazed her already. She hadn’t seen a clutch except the one that Micayith had been in.

“Roughly. Zalyith is looking a little egg heavy, probably too much to fight thread next fall.” The Weyrlingmaster finally spoke up as he heard several voices coming in that direction and a group of young girls roughly around 15-18 came in and stopped dead taking in everyone.

Laliy nodded a bit. This was great. She was already learning more than she had before. Not that she blamed anyone. They had been trying. She spun toward the voices as Micayith swiveled her head around.

“Ah Cadera, Gily and Thila this is Laliy and Micayith. They will be joining the junior wing.” V’ros said firmly, letting them look over the girl and the gold Weyrling. They had never seen a gold dragon up close like that before and were intrhappen.

Micayith instantly puffed up to as big as the little gold could get. Laliy tried not to laugh. “Hello,” she greeted them.

The girls smiled and started making introductions around themselves and their green dragons who were out sunning themselves after feeding. The girls had been coming to get their supplies for classes. “We will show you where the feeding area is and the you can join them for the afternoon class.” V’ros said smiling calmly.

Micayith pranced around a bit, enjoying meeting new people. Laliy looked at V'ros in surprise. she was jumping right into lessons? Well that was probably a good thing. “Okay,” she agreed.

“See you later.” Cadera called after the girl. V’ros looked at the rider and offered a smile once they were outside.

“What surprised you?” He wondered trying to figure out what was happening. This was just a normal day for the Weyr in opinion.

Laliy waved before looking back at V'ros. “Sorry. I just wasn't thinking about lessons when I was looking around. And to think there will be a clutch soon. It's just amazing.”

“We are a Weyr that has Queen Riders. There are normally at least 2 clutches a turn if not more depending on need. We won’t need quite as many now with our rank bolstered by the north but our clutches are still quite big.” Kilena assured throwing her braid over her head as she led the way to the feeding area and the herd beasts hung up waiting to be cut up for dragonets. .

Laliy blinked. “Really?” She asked. That was exciting. She wouldn't wait to learn more. Micayith happily bounced next to them but stopped when she saw the meat. The gold weyrling mewed a bit as if she were starving.

“Just in time.” V’ros said smiling as the dragonet looked starving. “Have you done this before?” He asked starting with the basic as if Micayith and Laily were first day for a moment.

Micayith continued to eye the herdbeast. Laliy nodded. “That much I did learn,” she promised. Growing up on a ship she knew how to gut the fish so the herd beasts hadn't been too bad.

“Have at it then, gold rider.” V’ros instructed stepping back with Kirala watching.

“She at least doesn’t look quite as quesy as you did doing this,” V’ros commented smiling at Kiraka making the woman smile back before she looked away.

Laliy stepped up to the meat and set to work on cutting up chunks for Micayith. The gold watched, her eyes whirling in hunger. Laliy laughed as she made sure the meat was small enough for her gold before feeding it to her.

Kirala smiled at the girl. She looked at ease and that was enough for her and the fact she was not as far behind the other weyrlings without a little help from an assistant to catch up.
