Location: River Cove Weyr

Lana had woken up in the middle of the night feeling like she was rested even with A’ren snuggled against her she had not been able to fall back asleep. She had tried to what felt like nearly a candlemark before she quietly slipped out into the quiet Weyr dressed in a long dress and flight jacket against the early morning chill and fog. Her plait thankfully had survived the night so she would at least look respectful despite the way she felt. She decided that some Klah was needed before she worked out what to do with herself and what she was going to do about what she now knew about the dragon and their abilities.

K'vin hadn't been able to sleep. Jena had wanted to know everything and he still wasn't sure how much he could say. He finally decided on just grabbing some klah and hopefully wearing himself out. He stopped though when he saw Lana. “Weyrwoman.”

Lana glanced up at the soft voice and offered a smile. She had presumed the foot steps had been the night drudges attending the night hearths or a rider on way for watch but she knew that K’vin was not neither. “Still awake or awake early?” She wondered gently as she held her cup closer. She had not got any further in her thoughts over what she was going to do but it was nice to see someone who knew what was going though her head.

“Still awake,” he admitted. “Once Jena finally stopped asking questions I couldn't get to sleep.” K'vin knew he needed sleep but at the moment that was still a ways off. He stepped over to the hearth to get a mug of klah. “Did you get any sleep?”

“Passed out about a candlemark after A’ren stopped yelling at me.” Lana admitted softly. He would probably yell at her again when he woke up without her and worried but she at least could face that. “Jena has been known to ask questions. I am sorry I have put you in that position we and A’ren are going to speak to her in the morning.” Lana could at least take that pressure off his sfaithfully.

He gave her a crooked grin. He knew A'ren had been worried about her. “It's okay. Jena has always been curious. I just did not want to say too much,” he admitted. He was glad Lana and A'ren were going to talk to her.

“If I had been awake she would have known so my apology is still valid.” Lana assured as joined her finally and sat opposite her. It felt strange to be sat on the benches but in the middle of the night she did not care. ”Is that all keeping you awake?” She wondered.

K'vin nodded. He didn't blame the Weyrleaders at all. There was a lot going on and Lana had needed her rest too. “Mostly,” he answered. “Just still processing everything we heard there. It is a lot.”

“It is. I did not expect any of you to find out.” Lana did not blame the blue rider at all, he had not realised the extent of the lost knowledge. “How can I help you process Bronze Rider?” Any other Bronze rider apart from K’vin and Lana might have been accused of having something sneaky going on with them sat there just talking in the middle of the night.
.
K'vin shook his head. “I just never realized something like that was possible and then to find out the north has known about it all along. It is just a lot.” K'vin knew it was going to take some time to let it all sink in. “I think once Jena knows it will be easier. I won't feel like I'm hiding something from her.”

Lana nodded and savoured a long draught of the klah feeling its seeping into everything that was cold and tired in her. She really should have tried better to stay awake but she felt drained from staying awake looking through records and the adrenaline had worn off the moment she had calmed down and A’ren had stopped yelling. “I did not know myself until Nerlyn revealed it.” The woman said quietly.

K'vin listened quietly. That had to have been scary to time it for the first time. “She had to be scared,” he said quietly, sipping on his klah. “That sounds like a very scary thing if you didn't know what you were doing.”

“She did it from the age of 15.” Lana said seeing the reflection of what she had felt at the time of the revelation. It was a horrible situation that had created Nerlyn but had also left her half a person.

“15?” K'vin repeated in disbelief. “she had to have been just a weyrling. That poor girl.” Now some things made sense. Poor Nerlyn.

“She was. Just discovered it on her first flight between.” Lana commented knowing that it would become common knowledge soon enough.

“Shards,” K'vin gasped. Timing between sounded sketchy and scary enough without it being your first time between. “And she kept doing it?”

“Nerlyn took the approach of Dragon Men must fly when thread are in the skies.” The Weyrwoman said sadly. She gripped the mug hard before putting it down so she did not accidentally smash it.

He scrubbed at his face. It was a good motto but one that could have gotten her killed. “Guess I shouldn't be surprised knowing Nerlyn.”

“Nope none of us should be but…” Lana let the thought go as she could not be angry at the past when Nerlyn had done it to keep the Weyr safe. She would forever be in her debt for how she had made sure every search was success.

“It is just a lot to take in,” K'vin said quietly. He had no idea how Nerlyn had kept it up for so long. No wonder he had heard stories about her being exhausted all the time.

“It is. And I’ve had a month or so to process.” Lana said gently wishing she had known to order the green to stop doing it and then deal with Nerlyn’s self worth and why she felt she needed to risk it all. She was just relieved that K’ron had involved more with her.

K'vin shook his head. “Jena is going to freak when she hears,” he admitted. His mate was going to be talking his ear off as she tried to figure it all out.

Lana smiled softly. Jena was certainly going to have a less than favourable reaction to this situation. At least the woman was practically grounded now thanks to her egg heavy queen. “She will react like a gold rider.” Lana assured. It would be the after effects of the situation that was going to be an issue.

He raised a brow. Was that a good reaction? “If you find me hiding here you'll know why.” He couldn't quite guess what Jena's full reaction would be.

“K’vin you are a bronze rider. You do not hide.” Lana snorted seeing the raised brow and his tone. “She is close to living on the sands for a month. I will try and make it easier for her and you.” Lana assured. She hated her dragon going to the sands with tension with A’ren.

He laughed a bit. “True enough. Not that it might not cross my mind,” he smiled. He loved Jena too much to hide anyhow. “Ooh that is going to be rough. She does not like being grounded like that.”

Lana nodded. No queen rider liked being grounded but needs must to keep the dragon population high for fighting thread and to maintain the Weyrs. “Neither do I but maybe go back to bed and enjoy her company while you can?” She suggested softly. Not that she minded the company but she also wanted him to get some rest.

K'vin nodded a bit. “If you are sure you're okay then maybe I'll do that. Think I might be able to sleep now,” he agreed. And snuggling back with Jena sounded good to him.

“I am fine.” She assured him quietly. “I am frazzled but I have slept.” She did not want him staying up when he needed his sleep.

“Alright,” he finally agreed. “But if you need to talk you know where to find me,” K'vin smiled.

“I will Bronze Rider.” The Weyrwoman quickly. She was not at all unhappy, she was stressed but the stress was nowhere near as bad as she was when Dragon Hold.

K'vin pushed to his feet. “Take care Weyrwoman,” he said softly.

Lana nodded and saluted him with her mug. She would take care but she needed to do something with her time now, she just did not know what she was going to do with it.
