Mission: 3531 AL

Kelsa shivered a bit as she got out of her jacket. Vyiath was sound asleep on her ledge after a hard Fall. Kelsa didn't know if anyone had been hurt, but all she cared about at the moment was making sure S'ven was alright. This would be the first Fall without their Wingleader.

S’ven eventually came back in and looked exhausted with a dirty face and several spots of numbweedes cuts on his chest that were visible through his open shirt. “Hey you.” He grinned happy to see her for a moment before he sobered and realised this was the first time he was returned to her after fall

Kelsa turned when she heard her mate and Vyiath greet her mate. She smiled when she saw S'ven but cringed at the cuts on his chest. Thread was not kind to anyone. “hey,” she smiled, moving to hug him.

The man quickly wrapped her up in his arms and kissed her hard. “Hello.” He said softer that time as she caressed her cheek. “How was your wing?” He asked softly.

She snuggled against his chest, not caring if he still smelled like Firestone. “Good. no major injuries that I heard of,” she answered. “How about yours?”

“One death.” The man admitted thinking of the green who had been six months out of weyrlinghood. “Wind shifted on our tip and blew the thread right in her face. She had no chance.” He sighed wrapping her closer against his aching chest.

“Oh S'ven,” she whispered, snuggling close to him. “I am so sorry. How are you holding up?” How had she missed that? Her poor mate.

“I’m okay. The same thread got me as I went to help.” K’ron had been devastated and G’len like how he imaged high reaches snow to be but he suspected that the man would be in the cavern that night drinking hard before he found a bed partner.

Kelsa gently touched his chest where he had been scored. “I am so glad you are okay but so sorry for the loss of that rider.” Unfortunately Thread didn't play fair and there were times that it won.

He was sorry too. She was barely 18 and lost her life thanks to a wind shifting thread right into her face.“I am okay.” He assured looking down where she was touching his chest and slowly worked it off so she could see properly. “I was just peppered.” He added looking down awkwardly at his chest where the numbweed was.

Kelsa hated Thread. Even though she knew that dragonriders fought Thread and saved countless people it never sat well with her when they lost one of their own. And from the looks of it she had nearly lost S'ven this time. “Still not good,” she said softly, resting her hand over his injuries.

He winced at her hand on his chest and then frowned at the stinging. “Gently baby. Still stings a little.” He whispered as he chucked the damaged shirt in the pile of items to sort out. “Plus I am all dirty.” He said not sure if she had washed up or not yet.

She quickly pulled her hand away, letting it drop back to her side. “Sorry,” she whispered. Kelsa raised a brow. “You really think I care that you're dirty?” She asked with a chuckle.

The man smirked at the look on her face. It was the same look she gave him when he was worrying about the wrong things. “Sometimes. But I’m not exactly the right kind of dirty right now am I.” He laughed a little bit before he sighed and leaned down kissing her softer this time.

“Love, I was in the same Fall you were,” she pointed out. She hadn’t gotten a chance to clean up either if she was honest. Besides she didn't care as long as he was there. Kelsa leaned into his gentle kiss.

“I couldn’t tell if you had cleaned up or not.” He breathed running his hand down her arm as he slowly backed her against the wall. “But in that case…” he whispered against her lips as he bent close and kissed her again.

“Not yet,” she assured him. She had been waiting for him to come back before getting cleaned up. Kelsa moaned softly, surprised by his actions but loving it. She wrapped her free around his neck, being careful of his chest.

If today had taught him anything it was to savour the moments that he could cause a threadful as short as todays one could change it. He might not turn to wine and ale like G’len was going to but he would turn to his mate and forget all about to all before going to rescue him.
