“Seriously?” S'laten grumbled as Dirith splashed him again. The bronze was having way too much fun splashing his rider. Thankfully it was a warm day. “How am i supposed to get you washed and oiled with you playing around?”
):you could join me,:( the bronze tempted. ):it's fun to play.:(
Lana watched from the path and laughed as she spotted the bronze rider getting splashed again by the bronze. She slowly approached seeing how frustrated the rider was getting. “Is Dirith winning this argument S’laten?” She wondered smiling a little.
The bronze rider turned in surprise, not realizing anyone else was there to witness his battle with his dragon. He sighed in defeat. “Just a bit,” he agreed as Dirith splashed him again, completely drenching him this time. “Dirith,” he groaned.
The bronze was unrepentant as he continued to splash around.
Lana pursed her lips together against the suprise on his face. “Would you like Kalaith to step in?” She wondered as she could see Kalana walking towards them looking tired. It was unusual to see many people around this early but Lana had gone for a jog along the coast.
S'laten brushed the water out of his face, a slight smile touching his lips. “Nah. He's just being more ornery then normal,” he answered. The bronze would settle down sooner or later. And he was already drenched so it wasn't like he could get any wetter.
“What brought you out so early?” Lana wondered as Kalana reached them, waddling a little with her rather large bump in front of her . It was too early and to hot . When was it going to cool down?
“Trying to avoid the heat,” the bronze rider admitted. He was getting a bit tired of the heat. It was insane. He grinned when he caught sight of his mate. “Hey Kal,” he grinned as Dirith bugled a hello to both women.
Kalana smiled at the bronze’s greeting. Her green was sound asleep on the ledge. “Avoiding the heat?” Kalana demanded fanning herself. “It’s boiling. Why is it so hot? It is far too early in the day” the pregnant green rider demanded. Lana said nothing but looked at S’laten expectantly.
S'laten held his hands up in surrender before Dirith splashed him again. “Well you could join me in the water. That will help cool you down,” he assured her. The water actually felt good.
“It’s taken me nearly a candlemark to get dressed with this…” She indicated the bump in front of her and the fact she was so top heavy.
“But you are looking great Kalana.” Lana assured quickly knowing the woman was trying her best but she was too large to fly Verith right now. Kalana turned to look at the Weyrwoman and blushed as he realised her bad temper had been seen by the woman.
The bronze rider pressed his lips together. He knew she was having a hard time with this. “I'm sorry. I should have been there to help,” he apologized.
“I am fully capable but I would like to keep dry so you do you I am going to sit here on this bench and watch and admire you.” Kalana said grinning as she flirted just a little. Lana smiled at the pair. They were adorable and she could see why the man was so deeply in love with the small normally shy rider.
“Do you want some help?” The Weyrwoman offered.
S'laten raised a brow. “Admire huh?” He teased. He always felt at ease with Kalana but had completely forgotten Lana was there until she offered to help his mate. His face colored a bit in embarrassment.
“No, I think I can admire him alone, Weyrwoman.” Kalana assured Lana with a grin.
“I meant your mate with his bronze but point taken. I will continue with my run.” Lana said laughing as she walked away amused by the care free ways of the pair. It was soothing.
He grinned. “Thanks. I think we got it.” He then turned back to Kalana. “Do you need anything before I try to wrangle Dirith again?” He offered.
Kalana shook her head. “I need nothing S’laten. Go and wrangle him then we can go and have breakfast.” She said waddling to the bench and carefully sat herself down and rearranged her dress a little.
“Alright,” he agreed. S'laten turned to his dragon who was still in a playful mood. Dirith splashed him again as he approached to finish scrubbing the bronze.
Kalana leaned back a little looking up at the sky. It was a little nicer now that she was sat down and not having to track the man down. She looked over and smiled seeing the man getting splashed again, he would need to change part of his clothing to get breakfast she realised with a roll of her eyes.
S'laten finally managed to get Dirith to cooperate long enough for him to get the bronze washed. Of course he was already drenched but at least Dirith was clean now. S'laten slowly splashed out of the water. “Finally,” he chuckled.
“You are more water than man,” Kalana advised with a smirk as she heard the squelching sound he made as he came closer.
he rolled his eyes with a laugh. “You think?” He asked, pretty sure he could wring enough out to fill a bucket. “Goofy out there apparently felt I needed a bath.”
“Well you were all hot and sweaty.” She teased, grinning still. She loved how easy going the man was sometimes even when he looked like the bronze dragon had tried to drown him. “He is just trying to help. Keep you healthy.”
“Please don't take his side,” he groaned as Dirith trumpeted happily. S'laten laughed though. “Now though I feel like a puddle,” he admitted.
“Why not?” She wondered awkwardly getting up from the bench grinning at him a little as she saw the water coming off of him.
“Because you're going to encourage him to do it again,” he pointed out. “And next time.” He wrapped his arms around her. “You'll be joining me.”
Kalana did not think Dirith needed encouragement but if he did she was most likely going to encourage. “Get off.” Kalana cried as the man pressed close and made her wet. “Noooo.” She laughed trying to push the larger man away from her grinning.
S'laten laughed, making sure to keep his arms loose around her so he didn't hurt her. “But you look hot,” he teased, kissing her quickly.
“Mmm… Pretty sure that was the line you used just before we made this one.” The woman laughed as she finally got away and looked down at her dress with a laugh. “This really isn’t the type of dress you want to get wet S’laten.”
He laughed again. “That is probably true,” he agreed, touching a hand to her swollen belly. “Okay I'll behave,” he promised.
“No you won’t but you will regret it when this dress sticks to me.” She grinned as she felt the baby kicking hard. She moved his hand to the spot so he could feel it.
His eyes widened before a smile lit up his face. “Shards. That still amazes me,” S'laten whispered. Even being their second it still amazed him.
“I know.” Kalana grinned at the look on his face. He always got excited and the smile on his face made everything seem perfect for a few moments despite her grumpiness and bad temper in the morning.
“How are you feeling?” He asked her. He tried not to worry too much he knew he always would. “And I guess I should go get something dry on before we eat.”
“Tired but that is standard when I am carrying your huge child.” She grinned, stepping back to look him over as she felt Verith wake up and stretch in the sun. Thank goodness the dragon would not rise when she was this pregnant but it was very much like a day that she would after all the stretching in the sun. “And possibly. Tula would be cross if you brought all that water in.”
S'laten pressed his lips together, trying not to laugh. “I do apologize you are dainty compared to me. But I love you that way and you know anything you need.” Dirith finally padded out of the water and spread his wings to go join his mate. “I can try to wring it out here.”
The green in question shot Dirith a look before making space on the ledge. “I love you very much this way.” She assured quickly before he could doubt her. She laughed and shook his head. “Go and change. By the time I’m in the cavern you’ll be done with the speed it takes me to get anywhere.”
Dirith crooned softly at his mate before curling up. “And I love you,” he smiled. S'laten nodded. “Alright. Then I'll go get changed and meet you in the dining cavern.”
Kalana grinned as she leaned up and kissed him softly. “Meet you there handsome.” She assured watching him walk away before she started herself. How did she get so lucky to have that man in her life?
