As soon as he had the bronze’s straps off he darted back toward his weyr. Dirith happily glided up to the fire heights as he was tired. S'laten refused to crash until he knew that Kalana was safe.

“Kalana?” He called, running into their weyr.

Kalana came rushing out of the bedroom as fast as her bump would allow her and smiled as she saw him rushing towards her. She leaned up smashing her mouth against his in a hard kiss. “You’re safe. I’m safe.” She soothed caressing his cheek.

S'laten was breathing hard as he wrapped his arms around her, trying to be careful of the baby. He moaned against her lips, trembling a bit. “Thank Faranth,” he whispered, looking into her eyes.

“Hey… hey… hey S’laten.” She whispered, caressing his cheek still as stared at her breathing hard. “It’s okay… I am here. I helped the women of the lower cavern.” She remembered as she leaned up kissing him again.

He couldn't stop shaking as the trauma from the Fall started to sink in. “I was so scared,” he whispered. He was afraid and he couldn’t remember the last time Thread had scared him so badly. He leaned into her kiss, just needing to reassure himself she was there.

Kalana melted against him, kissing him back with the same intensity. This is why they worked so well, she might be the shy former artist to others but to this man she was passionate and tough. “I am here.” She repeated as she leaned back against the wall.

S'laten closed his eyes, just needing to be close to his mate. He had been so worried he wouldn't get back to her. “Don't ever leave me,” he whispered, his voice cracking.

Kalana was surprised by the declaration and stroked back his sweaty hair as she worked on his jacket ties. “I am not planning to.” She assured pushing the jacket off his shoulders satisfied by the thud on the floor.

He knew he was being way too emotional but he just couldn't help it at the moment. “Thank you,” he whispered, closing his eyes at her gentle touch.

She leaned up kissing him again but it was softer that time. “What happened out there?” He was always emotional after threadfall, they all were but she hadn’t seen him like this in over a turn.

The bronze rider slowly shook his head. “patterns shifted,so many injured,” he said softly. S'laten closed his eyes wishing he could forget.

That made sense from the people that had numbweed applied. “But you are not. You are here and holding me.” She reminded him softly running her hands down his arms.

S'laten blew out a shaky breath. “You're right,” he said softly, trying to get himself to calm down. The two of them were safe. That was what mattered right now.

“How can I help right now?” She wondered squeezing his arms a little harder before poking him. “Always right.” She reminded him with a smirk.

He actually laughed shakily. “You are helping. All I could think about was getting back to you,” he answered. He had been so worried about her.

“Silly bronze rider. I am always here.” Kalana was not sure what he thought could have happened to her helping the women of the lower cavern. She had learned to not worry about the man in fall, he was a good rider and he would be on or he would not be, there was no use in worry.

“I know. I think seeing so many injured and caught off guard by the Thread patterns threw me a bit. All I could see was not getting back to you.” He knew it sounded foolish and he also knew that could happen with any Fall but this one had shaken him.

“But you are and that could happen any fall.” She said, poking his broad chest looking up at him. She sighed laying her head on his chest and just held him close.

“I know,” he agreed. He knew it could. Any Fall could be their last. He chuckled just a bit when she poked him. “I'm sorry,” he whispered, wrapping his arms around her.

“Don’t be but you don’t need to worry. I am right here.” She whispered, turning in his arms so she could press against him better without the bump between them.

S'laten finally managed a smile. “I know you are and I am so grateful for that,” he said, kissing her hair. She had helped him start to settle down.

Kalana smiled at his kisses in her hair. She gripped both his hands in hers and wrapped them around her. “Stuck with me, my bronze rider.” She whispered.

“I wouldn't want it any other way,” he assured her, keeping her close. Just having her close was helping settle him down.

Kalana kept his army wrapped around her for a long time before she felt him relaxed against her back and his posture changed . “Better?” she finally asked turning back around to look up at him seeing the passion and worry around his eyes had faded.

S'laten rested his head against her back, taking slow breaths to calm down. When she finally moved he felt almost normal. “I am. thank you.”

“Good cause my next approach was to seduce you.” She teased a little as she leaned up and kissed him softly. “Go and bathe and then come and sit on the sofa?” She tempted stepping back out of his arms.

He chuckled softly. “That would have worked,” he agreed. He nodded a bit. “I like the sound of that.” Getting clean and relaxing sounded very good.

“Still time for that later.” The green rider assured him with a laugh as she poked him in the direction of the bathing chamber. “Go on. I will wait here.” She promised pointing to the sofa. She had cleaned up when she had come in after Tula had sent her home, concerned that she might go into labour.

S'laten grinned. “Now that sounds good,” he agreed, heading for the bathing chamber. He definitely needed to get cleaned up and settle down with his mate.
