Zirieh sighed as she walked around the Gather. It was a nice day but at she hated not having G'vat there. He had promised he would try to make for the evening but she knew he had other pressing things as well. She couldn't fault him for that. Mesha cheeped softly from her shoulder.
Nerlyn looked up as she saw Zirieh walking towards her and smiled as she saw the gold fire lizard on her shoulder. She leaned up but forgot Koda was not there as she had left him behind with K’ron as she had to have a breather. “Hello Zirieh.” She greeted softly.
Zirieh quickly looked up and actually smiled when she saw Nerlyn. There was no sense in bringing everyone down because her mate couldn't be there. “Hi Nerlyn,” she said, changing course to walk over to her while the gold firelizard chittered a greeting of her own. “How are you enjoying the Gather?”
“Yes. I was just having a walk to see if I can clear my head a little bit. You look like you are doing the same? No G’vat?” She wondered surprised that the young bronze rider was not there with her but he had been making himself very forgettable with the influx of northern riders who might know him from Fort.
Zirieh sighed a bit. “No, he said he would try to come later but I don't really think he'll be able to.” She understood why he wasn't there, but it was still hard not to have him there with her. “How bout you? I'm sure K'ron has to be around here somewhere.”
“I am sure he will give up hiding soon.” Nerlyn commented amused slightly but the difference of nearly six turns made to the man from the bronze rider egocentric and opinionated to someone broody and guilty about his former life. “And yes my bronze rider is somewhere with his brother as I escaped to get some alone time.”
The green rider blew out a breath. “I sure hope so. I don't like watching him try to hide.” he had explained it to her but she had never seen that side of him before. She chuckled a bit. “Oh I can imagine needing some air with those two,” she smiled.
Nerlyn nodded. Hopefully it got better for the pair, The bronze rider had been a pain in rear for her when he had first arrived but he had soon levelled out. “There is only so much … protection I need.” Nerlyn commented quietly as she looped her arm through the younger rider.
Zirieh sighed softly before smiling a bit. “Men. They think they are helping but sometimes they are over zealous.” She was sure that Nerlyn felt that way with K'ron sometimes.
“Certainly something like that but I cannot blame him.” Nerlyn admitted and that is what hurt the most sometimes. She needed him a lot more than he needed her.
Zirieh glanced over at Nerlyn, hearing the tone shift in her voice. “you okay?” She asked gently as Mesha cheeped at her. Zirieh hadn't meant to bring up anything bad.“Just lots happened recently.” Nerlyn said quietly with a sad smile as she leaned out to caress the little gold. “So yes I am okay,” she quickly assured before Zirieh worried.
Mesha leaned into Nerlyn’s soft scratches. Zirieh pressed her lips together but didn't push. “Okay. If you're sure.”
“Come on. Walk with me a little?” Nerlyn requested squeezing her arm looped through hers. She was trying to reconnect with people she had pulled away from when to had lost Leaneth.
Zirieh nodded. “Sure.” anything to get her mind off of G'vat not being there. Not to mention she hadn’t had a chance to talk to Nerlyn in a while.
“I nearly caused a bar fight and K’ron came in as I was about to glass a miner and then I ran off whilst R’kig distracted him.” Nerlyn commented as they started walking further away from the tavern and the chance she’d be found anytime soon.
Zirieh stared at Nerlyn in disbelief. “You did what?” she repeated, not sure she had heard right. “A bar fight? Really?” She couldn't imagine how K'ron had felt about that.
“Oh, do not stare at me like that. They were being mean to R’kig over being a blue rider. You know I hate that.” Nerlyn murmured softly, looking uncomfortable with the shock. She was not going to let some take a pop at her brother even if he would.
“Ah, now that makes a lot more sense,” Zirieh answered. “Yes I do not like when people do that either.” The blue riders she knew had always been kind and she didn't understand why people had to be so mean.
“I might be pregnant and no longer a rider but I still have my morales and standards.” Nerlyn assured quietly smiling up at the sunshine beating down on them.
Zirieh nodded. “Definitely don't doubt that. I'm sure R'kig appreciated it even though I am sure K'ron had a fit.” she knew how protective K'ron was.
Oh boy did he have a fit, she realised seeing the anger she only ever saw when he fought thread. “He ended it so hopefully his ego will survive the fit.” Nerlyn said, smiling at the man. She did not need him being quite as protective but she did appreciate his timing.
Zirieh chuckled a bit. “I'm sure as long as you are okay he will be just fine,” she assured her friend. K'ron didn't have an ego like the other bronze riders.
“Really? You think my ego is still in tact?” K’ron asked walking up.
Nerlyn winced at the man appearing. She was not ready to speak yet. “For sure.” Nerlyn said quietly, unlooping her arm from Zirieh.
K'ron raised a brow, leaving Zirieh confused. She glanced at Nerlyn who still seemed upset. “Alright Mr. Bronze Rider, off you go. Find your brother. We're having girl time.”
K'ron blinked at Zirieh in surprise. He hadn't expected that. “Okay okay,” he finally agreed.
“Love you.” Nerlyn called after the bronze riders retreating back even as Koda swooped down and settled on her shoulder. “Thank you.”
Mesha cheeped a greeting to Koda who happily snuggled against Nerlyn. Zirieh smiled at Nerlyn. “Of course. You didn't look ready to face everyone yet.”
Nerlyn nodded. There was so much going on and there was not really anyone she could share any of it with which was frustrating but the fact the other woman had spoke up for her meant the world. “Not quite. I … I keep finding myself drifting a little bit today.” She sighed softly.
Zirieh left Nerlyn talk. She didn't really know what the other woman was going through but she would listen if that is what Nerlyn needed. Koda nuzzled Nerlyn’s cheek. “Some days are like that.”
“They are.” Nerlyn said sadly knowing the woman did not understand it but she was at least trying to. Nerlyn kissed the fire lizard softly glad to have him there when she was wobbly.
The little brown cheeped softly, staying close. Over the Turns he had been able to pick up on Nerlyn’s moods.
“If you ever need to talk or just talk my door is always open.”
“I know and thank you.” Nerlyn assured quietly. She knew that everyone’s door was open but she also did not want to burden them with anything. She took a deep breath and stood a little taller if it was possible with her short height. “I think I might wander by myself for a little bit, Zirieh. Try and perk myself up,” She did not want to bring anyone down.
The green rider nodded a bit. She wasn't going to argue as she could see Nerlyn needed time to herself. “Alright. Then I guess I will see you later.”
Nerlyn squeezed the woman’s hand before nodding. “Enjoy your day Zirieh.” Nerlyn begged her as she stepped back looking the best way to head. She just needed to breath and figure out her head and what she was thinking.
“I'll try,” Zirieh promised, giving Nerlyn a smile. She then turned to go exploring some more and maybe find G'vat.
