HR: Meeting
Posted on Sun Oct 5th, 2025 @ 1:32pm by Gold Rider Lana & Bronze Rider K'ron
Mission:
3531 AL
Location: High Reaches
Timeline: M3 D19
Lana one moment was staring at the sun rising across the southern ocean and the next she was between and the second after that she was surrounded by white snow. She let out a squeal and pulled up her mask that Ni’hau had helpfully given her.
}: It is cold:{ Kalaith complained instantly despite the greeting all around for the trio that arrived.
***It won’t be for long sweetheart and we will be back with A’ren and Zarminth*** Lana assured as she hoped that as they swooped down to the bowl as it was hard to see properly but she could understand why people said High Reaches was one of the most striking of all the Weyrs.
K'ron had made sure to do his jacket up as tightly as he could and layer up in as many layers as he could. Despite his best effort though when they appeared over High Reaches he was instantly cold.
}:let's go home,:{ Tyreth grumbled. }: It's too cold here.:{ K'ron smiled at his bronze’s complaints. It was cold and he would rather be home. Koda poked his head out of K'ron's jacket but instantly disappeared again.
Neadeth had the same reaction as the other too but he responded to the watch pair's confusion and then realisation of who they were }: He says straight down and the Weyrleader in waiting :{ Kalaith instructed the pair leading the way. Lana smiled as the weather got better as they got into the bowl and she could see make out the bowl properly and figures waiting for them.
Tyreth followed Kaliath down to the Bowl, folding his wings as he made a gentle landing, blowing up a bit of snow around his feet. The bronze grumbled a bit at the cold. K'ron patted the bronze's neck, knowing the feeling. “It is pretty here,” he commented.
Lana landed and saw several people coming out of the lower caverns dressed similarly to the group but looking much more relaxed surrounded by snow and the wind ripping over the Seven Spindles. She climbed down and slowly approached them before she lowered her mask and reached out to the taller of the group to shake his head. “S'cir.” She greeted.
K'ron shoved his goggles up on his head as he slid down Tyreth's shoulder. He couldn't believe how cold it was. Although he was sure Raen would love playing in the snow.
S'cir inclined his head. “Good day, Weyrwoman,” he smiled, returning the hand shake. “Welcome to High Reaches.”
“Thank you for allowing me to come and look in your records,” Lana said smiling a little more at the older man's relaxed smile. She knew she most likely looked at fright thanks to her hear sticking to her face and the cuts still visible. “It has been a few turns since I last came here and it was a lot warmer.” She said formally as she indicated the 2 men. “V’ros and K’ron.”
“Of course. Hopefully you will find what you are looking for.” S'cir shook his head a bit. “You definitely picked a bad time of Turn to come up from the south.” even after being at High Reaches for Turns it was still cold. “Bronze riders,” he said. “Welcome.”
K'ron stood next to V'ros trying not to shiver. It did help having Koda pressed tight against him. “GGood day, Weyrleader.”
V’ros bowed his head and nodded at the older man. He did not have much to say on the subject other than observing until something changed. “Needs must Weyrleader. We need a little bit of information and the Weyr’s in the north have records that go back further but perhaps we should get out of the snow?” She suggested hopefully already regreting the time of year she was visiting in.
“Of course. Right this way,” S'cir said, motioning them toward his office. At least they would be inside that way. he led the way up the stairs and pushed the door open, motioning them inside.
Lana followed quickly and smiled as they were ushered inside by the blue and brown riders that were with the Weyrleader. “Your watch pair told us to come down as it was impossible to find the right weyr.” Lana grinned taking off her helmet and gloves properly stowing the gloves in her belt as she finally got a good look at everyone.
“Is that so?” The weyrleader asked, leaning a hip against his desk. He hadn't considered that before. “So when would you like to go to the records weyr?” he asked, not really sure what Lana had in mind.
K'ron stood quietly. This Weyr was certainly a lot more formal than River Cove. No one had really even said anything to them.
“I think they took pity on us when we looked so startled from coming from blue skies and the sea to snow. But whenever you are happy for us to go there? Did you need something from us?” She wondered, smiling at S'cir. This all felt a lot more formal than she was used to with A’ren but she was not out of her league after eight turns of being a queen rider.
“Hmm that is true enough. I am sure it was quite a shock to the three of you.” S'cir shook his head. “I do not believe so. Is there anything you need from me?”
K'ron glanced at V'ros. This was very odd indeed. He couldn't wait to go home.
V’ros raised an eyebrow and noticed the other pair noticed it too. “Not in the slightest other than to have dinner this evening together. A’ren would never forgive me if I did not ask, seeing you have been so hospitable in letting us come here.” Lana said, sensing the tension from the man. It was unusual when he was normally open and friendly.
S'cir nodded. “Of course. Do you still remember where the dining cavern is or I can collect the three of you before dinner,” he offered. “How is A'ren? Feels like I haven't seen him in Turns.” The Weyrleader knew he wasn't being as hospitable as he should be but right now he had too many things on his mind.
“Feels like it but it’s not been that long. Unhappy that I am here but looking forward to my return.” She stated glancing at V’ros and K’ron seeing their confusion around the older man. “I believe we can find our way and if not I am sure we shall find a weyrbrat or someone willing to help.” Lana had no doubt of it.
He chuckled a bit. “He didn't want you coming?” He asked. That surprised him. Of course that might have been because A'ren couldn't come himself. “Alright, you have a point. Would you like a guide to the records weyr?”
“Of course not S’cir. Would you have let Leanoa come south without you happily?” Lana wondered quietly, glad to see the older man relaxing a little. She glanced at the two men with him. “I am sure your brown rider here can show us if you have other business to attend to. I would also like to meet your Weyrwoman at some point when she is not at her studies.”
“That is a good point. I would not have,” he agreed. S'cir nodded a bit. “Then I shall leave you in his capable hands while I finish up some things. Our young Weyrwoman should be finishing up her lessons in about a candlemark if you would like to speak with her then.”
Lana inclined her head to the man and watched him leave before the blue rider turned to the group. “Follow me Weyrwoman, wingleader, Weyrlingmaster 2nd.” The man said politely now seeing all their ropes signifying their ranks. No wonder the dragons were all excited.
K'ron let Lana go first but stayed close. Things still seemed a bit odd here but maybe that was just him. It wasn't like he traveled to other Weyrs or anything. River Cove was just so easy going.
V’ros offered an easy smile. He was as uneasy as K’ron but he knew how to mask a lot easier. “Sorry there are a lot of steps Weyrwoman.” The blue rider apologised softly as he started up the steps.
K'ron quietly followed. Koda had finally decided to make an appearance and had decided to climb up on K'ron's shoulder. The brown flit cheeped softly as he looked around.
