?V’ros had slept far longer than he had liked after keeping watch over Nerlyn and K’ron on his return so much so that when he woke up Anna and Rosan were gone for the day. It meant he had to track them down in the cavern for lunch. He grinned and quickly got food and joined them at their table snuggling close to Rosan first having missed his son the previous night as he had been asleep.
Rosan giggled as his dad snuggled close. “Daddy,” he smiled.
Analees smiled at her mate and son. She was glad to have V'ros home. She knew he had had to go but it hadn't made it any easier. “Finally decide to join us?” She teased him.
“Sorry. I guess I needed the sleep.” He murmured not wanting to go into it with Rosan there. He wrapped his arm around his son just enjoying the moment he never thought he would get with being a rider but thanks to Analees he did.
The young woman shook her head. “It's fine,” she assured him, brushing wisps of dark hair out of her face. “I'm glad we didn't wake you when we left.”
“I do not think even a queen flight or thread full could have stirred me.” He admitted messing the boys hair for a moment before he started to eat up his stew.
Rosan giggled again. Analees shook her head. “Yeah I think I would agree. You were definitely sleeping,” she agreed, nibbling on her stew.
“Was tired. High Reaches is a few candlemarks ahead and then I stayed awake with K’ron and Ner.” He mumbled with a smile at Analees wishing he could do something to comfort her other than touch her arm.
“I can definitely see why you're tired,” she said softly. He had been through a lot. “How are they?” She had only heard bits and pieces of what had happened. Rosan stayed snuggled against his father, refusing to move.
“They’ll survive. If I had not brought him back there was no guarantee of his survival and I was not going to be the one to tell Nerlyn of all people that.” He muttered smiling at Rosan snuggling closer and closer by the second.
Analees shuttered at that thought. “Yeah that would have been bad all the way around.” She gave him a tired smile. “Does that mean I get you back now though?” She had missed him being there.
“Sure.” He said grinning at her. “It’s all still complicated but I am back and have no plans to go off again but none of it was the Weyrwoman’s fault. High Reaches is not doing great right now with a weryrling queen.” He whispered so no one else could hear. “Why we now have her as she volunteered to leave and come here.”
“Never blamed her,” Analees assured him. She knew he had only done what he had to do as a rider. She blinked in surprise. “Oh that is awful. How is the girl doing?”
“Okay I think. I left her with Kirala and C’dan whilst I slept and dealt with K’ron.” He admitted with a shrug. He had to be a little selfish sometimes in getting his own rest in especially after all the hide work.
She nodded. “Sounds like she is in good hands.” Analees took another small bite of stew as Rosan refused to leave his father's side. “Are you feeling better now after some sleep?”
V’ros nodded. “I am feeling tons better now.” He admitted. “Not looking forward to the paperwork from last couple of days.” He might have to work later than he expected after sleeping so long but he knew the woman would not mind. “How has your day been so far? Creche treating you well?” He wondered.
Rosan wrinkled his nose. “No crèche,” the little boy said. “Stay with daddy.”
Analees chuckled. “We've both been doing good,” she promised. She didn't need him worrying over something simple.
“I have to work unfortunately. So it is either mama, creche or both.” The bronze rider admitted with a smile. “Better be good. I do not need you guys out of sorts.” He said quietly thinking of all the issues that could have happened whilst he was away.
Rosan huffed unhappily. “Fine,” he grumbled.
Analees tried not to laugh. “You don't have to work all night do you?” She asked worriedly. They needed to talk but it wasn't something she wanted to discuss in front of Rosan.
The bronze rider pressed a kiss to Rosan’s hair in an attempt to appease him slightly but the little boy did not seem to notice as he carried on grumbling. “Not all night but I do need to work a few candlemarks tonight as I have missed most of the morning and eating stew for breakfast.”
Analees slowly nodded in understanding. She knew he was busy. Their talk could wait. Nothing was going to change in a few candlemarks. “Just don't wear yourself out again.”
“I will try my best.” He was not planning to be there all night and he was sure Kirala or C’dan would kick him out before that especially with no new weyrlings due for a few months things were pretty steady right then and there. It would only be the wing ready reports and the monthly reports for the Weyrleaders.
“Good,” she answered. “I really don't want to have to come track you down,” she smiled, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. She still wasn't feeling well but she wasn't going to let that get her down.
The man raised an eyebrow as he noticed the smile not reaching her eyes but there was nothing he could do to change it there and then but tonight was not far away. “Can track me down any time baby.” He pointed out softly.
Analees nodded. “I know,” she promised him. And she might just do that. but only if he was gone too long. She would have to get Rosan to bed anyhow before she considered tracking V’ros down.
“But I will try my best.” He said leaning around his son to squeeze her shoulder. He was starting to think there was something she needed to talk to him around but did not want to mention properly with their son around.
“I know you will,” she smiled, reaching up to squeeze his hand on her shoulder. She had to admit she was a bit scared about what she needed to talk to him about.
“So let’s eat up and then we can get to our afternoons and then catch up this evening.” He said quietly glancing to Analees wondering about her for a moment before he smiled more as Rosan hurried up.
