Lana winced as a knock sounded at her Weyr and carried on several times before she finally got herself up from the couch where she had been lying down trying to rest as A’ren and Thalia had told her firmly to do. She knew her face would be tender for a while. The weyrwoman had been listening for once, but she also really did not want to be facing anyone at all, but someone seemed to be really eager to speak to one of the Weyrleaders. She pulled over the door and looked at the man standing there, confused, before turning away so he could stop looking at her face. “What do you want F’cone?”
He knew this probably wasn't his best idea but he needed to know she was okay. At least for his own sanity. He knew A'ren was out so at least there wouldn't be a battle. He hoped. He stood outside the door, waiting for Lana to answer. “I wanted to check on you,” he answered when she finally opened the door.
Lana kept her face turned away from him. He had seen her in worse states she was sure but she didn’t want to be seen by anyone with a bruised face and stitches. “Battered and bruised but alive.” She assured.
F'cone frowned a bit as she made sure to look away from him. When he had originally heard what happened he had thought the worst. Thankfully that wasn't the case. “That's good to hear.”
“I am okay.” She assured quietly as she glanced back at him, seeing the frown on his face. “Was there something else you needed, F’cone?”
The wingleader considered his former lover. “Just worried about you. You haven't been seen since the accident.”
“I am fine. I need to hide and lick my wounds like a feline for a little bit.” Lana assured as she opened the door more. “But you look like you need some reassurance that Kalaith and Caladoth could not assure.” She knew the bronze would have asked.
Caladoth had tried to reassure him countless times, but when Lana didn't show herself, he got worried. He slowly nodded. “I did. I know Cal kept saying you were fine, but I needed to know for sure.”
“What did you think happened? A’ren was holding me hostage or that Kalaith was lying?” Lana sighed and nodded as she stepped back to let him inside.
}: Caladoth’s rider turned up? I told him you wanted to be alone.:{ Kalaith assured as she stuck her snout into the weyr as Lana backed up a little to give them the space.
*** I know you did, but here he is.*** Lana said gently.
F'cone frowned as he stepped inside. “No, I didn't think that.” He didn't always see eye to eye with the other bronze rider but he didn't think A'ren would ever stoop that low. “I just needed to see with my own eyes that you were okay.”
“And here we are. How do I look?” She asked looking at him so he could see the stitches and bruises properly.
}: Caladoth’s rider's opinion does not matter. You are you.:{ Kalaith said firmly as she snorted making Lana go over to her another hand over her snout to stop the Queen getting further into the weyr.
“You look like you've been to the Red Star and back honestly. But you're alive and can still see so that's what matters.” F'cone shook his head slightly. He had seen his fair share of injuries but nothing like the goggles exploding.
“Thanks for being honest. I feel like it too.” Lana admitted leaning her unhurt face on Kalaith’s shiny hide. “I was lucky. I’m going to have to keep a better eye on my goggles.” Lana knew that the weyrling who had dropped the sack felt terrible and had been spoken to firmly by C’dan and V’ros but Lana had forced them to stop there. No punishment just training.
F'cone nodded. He had always tried to be honest with Lana even if at times he messed things up. “Think it was a good lesson for all of us. I am just glad it wasn't any worse.” He smiled slightly at Kaliath. The gold was protective of her rider.
“Me too.” Lana did not want to think of the power struggle that could have been created but it was over now. She just needed to heal up enough to get herself back to normal. Lana looked at the man. “Are you okay?” She demanded quietly.
F'cone didn't want to think about what could have happened. It didn't and that's what mattered. He slowly nodded. “Yeah. Just a lot going on,” he answered.
Lana raised an eyebrow before she realised how much it would and lowered it quickly. “How so?” She wondered. The man did not know any of the timing stuff or any of the other problems that the Weyrleaders had.
He shook his head. “Nothing for you to worry about. The wing is doing great.” It was his personal life he was sorting out still
Lana nodded. The Weyrwoman did not worry over F’cone, he was not her problem. She cut all ties with him because she was not prepared to be second best and it was not healthy for either of them. “Good but that would be A’ren’s problem not mine.” Lana countered before Kalaith snorted.
He rolled his eyes. Yeah this was messed up. He shouldn't have come but he had to make sure she was truly alright. “Nope, not going there either.” He was not talking to A'ren, thank you very much.
):stop that,:( Caladoth grumbled at his rider.
“One day you will have to accept that A’ren is your Weyrleader.” Lana said sharply before she put her hand over her mouth and shook her head. She had never been so sharp with the man even in her office when he had come seeking her attention before the gather she had been kind.
F'cone stared at her in shock. He knew A'ren was the Weyrleader and would more than likely stay that way but it didn't mean they had to be friends. “He is Weyrleader but i don't have share wine with him.”
“No but you do need to show respect and treat him how he treated you when you were Weyrleader. He backed you in everything even when people… even when it all went wrong and I was poisoned he still backed you.” She said firmly, feeling her voice shake at the memories.
“All I did was come check on you. Nothing more,” he growled. “Why are you getting so angry?” How had this gone from just a friendly check in to getting his head torn off by Lana?na.
“Because you never go anywhere. You never process anything.” Lana winced. “Thank you for checking on me but I am fine just obviously in pain and lashing out.” She sighed, backing up a step to bump against Kalaith.
F'cone shook his head. “I'm never going to understand you, Weyrwoman,” he said lowly. “I do apologize for caring enough to check on you. I shall never do it again.” Caladoth growled at his rider.
Lana nodded. She deserved that but maybe it was for the best that they ended it like this so there was no mistakes or confusion. “As you wish, Wingleader.” Lana said just as formally.
He spun on his heel, sick of trying. It seemed like he just kept messing up. Well fine, she was on her own.
}: Well that did not go to plan but maybe it was for the best:{ Kalaith commented as Lana watched the man leave and slam the door behind him.
“It was. Me and him were together so much that it was toxic for everyone and A’ren…. Well he… I love him.” Lana said, kissing the dragon's snout before she moved to where she had been sitting sulking. Kalaith let out a puff of air that scattered papers but said nothing else as she went back to the ledge and curled up in the sun already telling Zarminth about what had happened.
