Waking up was always hard to do a day after thread fall but waking up after an injury in threadfall was harder to do Lana realised as she stirred a little. She squeezed her eyes harder which only make the stitches along her eyebrow and eyes hurt more.
}: You are awake and it’s not yet sunrise :{ Kalaith said sleepily.
*** I know. I hurt*** Lana said, groaning a little as she slowly swung herself up and smiled at the man sleeping beside her as his hand fell back on the bed from where it had been resting against her back. Lana unsteadily got to her feet and pushed herself into the bathing chamber to clean up better and to find the box of healer things that Thalia had provided.
A'ren had stayed up late into the night watching over Lana. He knew the injury wasn't life threatening but he still worried. Thankfully his Threadscore had just been down his arm and easily tended if still sore. Now though he finally slept as Zarminath had pretty much ordered him to bed which the bronze didn't usually have to do.
):He worries,:( Zarminath yawned from his place beside the gold.
}: I know but mine is okay. She is just in pain and awake :{ The gold replied as she settled back down to go back to sleep even as she felt Lana’s shock as she started at herself in the mirror and saw the bruising and trauma coming out on her face.
The bronze snorted a bit. Humans didn't make sense to him at all. ):they are both being silly.:(
A'ren moaned a bit as he rolled over. His hand touched cold furs and he was instantly awake. “Lana?” He asked sleepily.
“Bathing chamber,” Lana called softly as she tore her gaze away to retrieve a glass of water, quickly coming back to the darkened bedroom. “Go back to sleep.” She suggested taking a sip.
He looked toward her voice, blinking in the dim light to wake up more. “Are you okay?” He asked, not able to read her expression in the dark.
“Yeah, just woke up hurting a little so i need to get some pain relief.” She could put up with a lot of pai,n but it felt relentless at that moment when she was trying to sleep and rest.
A'ren cringed a bit. That didn't sound good. He knew the injury hadn't been life threatening but he knew they had to be painful. “I can get that if you want to crawl back in bed,” he offered.
“It is okay. You are warm in bed, and I am already up.” She said disappearing out to the living area of the weyr past the curtain. She glanced around the cool living area and smiled at the box on A’ren’s desk, and looked through it. She was thankful that Thalia had put it all in tablet form for easy swallowing.
A'ren wanted to argue but Lana was already headed off before he could say anything. He yawned a bit as he waited for her to come back, still worn out but knowing it would be a busy day.
Lana slowly came back, swallowing down some painkillers, hoping that they would kick in soon. “I look awful, by the way.” She said as she came back and sat on the edge of the bed, drinking the water.
The Weyrleader shook his head. “Never,” he answered, pulling the furs back for her to climb back in. “You're perfect to me. Scars and all,” he smiled.
The woman rolled her eyes, which just hurt, so she settled to climbing under the furs, relieved they had them on the bed for once, as it was a little chillier than normal. “Thank you, but I am not so sure about that. I scared myself looking in the mirror.”
A'ren nodded. He knew how fortunate she had been when her goggles exploded. “It will heal,” he promised her, pulling the furs up over her again.
Lana nodded. She knew that, but would she looked how she normally looked was important to her. She was not vain but being pretty helped being a weyrwoman sometimes with council meetings and being approachable.
He reached out and gently brushed her cheek. “It will get better. I am just grateful it didn't hurt your eyes,” he said softly, not sure how a blind dragon rider would fare.
She closed her eyes at the gentle touch on her cheek. “Me too. I would have had to stop being Weyrwoman.” Lana said softly. She would have had to open the Weyr up to other queens and let them juke it out to be the senior pair.
A'ren shook his head. “We would not want that at all. You keep this Weyr together.” He couldn't imagine Lana not being Weyrwoman and he didn't want to be Weyrleader with anyone else.
Lana shook her head at the together part as she had no idea how she did it sometimes but as long as he and the Weyr thought she did that was what mattered. “I was really lucky.” Lana said sadly.
He gently reached out to run a hand through her hair, being careful of her injuries. “You were and I am grateful. I don’t want to think about losing you.”
“I escaped death again.” Lana was pretty sure that one day her luck would run out, but it was very unusual for a weyrwoman to die in fall due to them flying at lower levels.
“You did, and I am very grateful for that,” he answered, laying back down and yawning. “I'm also glad we don't have anywhere to be.”
Lana bit her lip as she wanted to murmur that her luck might one day run out. “Go to sleep, my love,” Lana said, smiling as he lay down, bringing her with him. She snuggled against him, laying her head on his chest, relieved it was her non-hurt side.
A'ren could tell she wanted to say more but he was grateful that she just settled back down against him. “I'm okay,” he promised, running his fingers down her arm.
}: You should tell him how you feel :{ Kalaith said sleepily still as she stirred, feeling Lana’s emotions whirling.
*** I know, but not now.*** Lana said quietly. It would not change the emotions right now or the worry.
“Better be. Only one of us can be hurt.” She whispered.
A'ren has no idea of the turmoil going through Lana’s mind as he was half asleep again and Zarminath was asleep beside his mate again. “I would rather it was me then you though,” he said softly, hating when she was hurt.
“No… It’s too close to Kalaith rising.” Lana said firmly. She did not want to go through what had happened for F’cone to get the Weyrleadership again. She had been too young and inexperienced in relationships and leadership to handle it.
A'ren nodded a bit. He was not messing that one up. He had done that when he and Zarminath had been injured. They had lost that flight, and things had gone bad quickly.
}: I told you I will only allow Zarminath to fly with me. :{ Kalaith said with a sense of amusement at Lana’s worries. She did not understand her rider sometimes.
“Go to sleep, Weyrleader, we are safe and secure right now.” She said quietly enjoying the darkness still.
“Alright,” he finally agreed, yawning again. He stayed snuggled against her not wanting to move.
